E como podemos falar de uma nova filosofia – ou filosofia do futuro – nascente da dissolução da religião, pautada na valorização da materialidade? Feuerbach afirma que a religião é própria à essência humana e o sentimento religioso é o primeiro estágio de consciência de si no homem. A filosofia feuerbachiana está preocupada em descobrir o que está por trás da religião – sua essência – que nada mais é que a própria antropologia. O fundamento antropológico da religião é, portanto, a identidade entre a consciência de deus e a consciência de si do homem. Para além desse sentimento religioso básico, veremos uma preocupação com a teologia – a racionalização desse sentimento – que inverte a lógica da criação (deus passa a ser o criador) e faz com que o homem siga e se submeta a um espectro criado pela sua própria abstração, se desvalorize enquanto ser humano sensível e ainda, desvalorize sua vida e a natureza. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo investigar o papel da materialidade no projeto de nova filosofia que Feuerbach traz à tona em princípios da filosofia do futuro (1843), tomando por base a noção de religião (e suas críticas a ela) trazida pelo autor em sua Essência do Cristianismo (1841), Essência da Religião (1846) e Preleções sobre a Essência da Religião (1851). Assim, oferecemos uma interpretação dessas questões, expondo seus pontos de cruzamento com a religião cristã e com a natureza, podendo tratar dos desdobramentos do assunto com os argumentos oferecidos por Feuerbach. Trata-se de relacionar o papel da religião na vida humana questionando suas consequências (positivas e negativas) para o homem e para a natureza. Trazendo à luz o problema religioso, poderemos entender como Feuerbach engendra o projeto de uma nova filosofia, que terá sua prioridade no homem que valoriza sua sensibilidade (Sinnlichkeit) e está em consonância com a sua comunidade e com a natureza. Destarte, poderemos realizar uma reflexão sobre a relevância desse pensamento na atualidade.

In this essay I make a comprehensive presentation of Après la finitude by Quentin Meillassoux. The basic concepts of the book are introduced and the main lines of arguments are exposed. The focus lies on the relationship between science and philosophy, understood on the basis of a presumed conflict between on the one hand what Meillassoux calls the ancestral statements of science and on the other what he calls the correlationism of modern philosophy. Finally, I discuss the response of two prominent scholars of continental philosophy, Martin Hägglund and Catherine Malabou, to the ideas developed in Après la finitude, and thustry to assess Meillassoux’s contributionto contemporary philosophy

Esta dissertação trata da mulher no pensamento materialista de Denis Diderot (1713-1784), tendo em vista dois aspectos principais: a constituição psicofisiológica feminina e a maneira como o enciclopedista vê a mulher no seu contexto moral e social no Século das Luzes. Tomaremos como base para esta análise as seguintes obras do filósofo: Diálogo entre DAlembert e Diderot, O Sonho de DAlembert, Continuação do Diálogo, Sobre as Mulheres, A Religiosa e, por fim, o Suplemento à Viagem de Bougainville. / This dissertation deals with the woman in materialistic thought of Denis Diderot (1713-1784), in view two main aspects: the constitution psychophysiological women and the way women see encyclopedic in its moral and social context in the Enlightenment. We will take as a basis for this analysis the following works of the philosopher: Dialogue between D\'Alembert and Diderot, D\'Alembert\'s Dream, Continued Dialogue on Women, The Religious and finally, The Supplement to the Journey Bougainville.

The purpose of this project is to examine the visual rhetoric of one online community. Drawing heavily from the work of Laurie Gries (2015), I track the evolution of an image as it circulates through a forum of photo manipulators in the group “PhotoShopBattles.” While Gries’ work traced the evolution of the iconic Obama Hope poster and its iterations in various media, this project restricts its observations to the images posted to one webpage, focusing on one evolutionary chain. By narrowing the focus to one internet forum page that evolved over the course of one week, we can observe linear evolution that occurs quite rapidly. While the study of Obama Hope covered years, the works in this study were constructed in a matter of days. Additionally, the site records the step-by-step progress of the reformed work. The Obama Hope work offers guidance to the work in this project. Using this method, an image’s evolution is broken down into steps and principles noted in the life of the image or multiple-image. By recreating a slightly modified version of Gries’ method, this work seeks to decode the meanings and outcomes that are created and changed around one set of evolving images. New materialism offers a way to explore the visual rhetorical moves of members of an online community and discuss the outcomes associated with those moves. With a deeper understanding of the environment surrounding image creation and the outcomes derived from an image, we can better understand the way image is used rhetorically online.
