Mediální výchova z hlediska jazykového vzdělávání na příkladu vyučování francouzštině / Media education in terms of language learning using the example of teaching French

The aim o f the thesis is to elaborate the methods o f education o f future teachers in the field o f reception and analysis o f media texts (especially o f the printed media). Even if the school subject media education in the Czech republic has been newly introduced (as well as frequently discussed), the present topic did not find a due place in the curricula at the faculties o f education (preparing the teachers for secondary schools, in particular for grammar schools). The media education may be considered either as a particular school subject or as a component o f relative school subjects, e. g. o f mother or foreign language teaching, civics, history etc. Its contents includes a large scale o f topics - media institutions, functioning o f media channels and media market, critical reading o f media texts, analysis o f the forms o f media manipulation and stereotypes, publicity etc. It is mostly this interdisciplinary approach which situates the media education within the wider picture o f a rather complex study o f language acquisition. The main theme of the work is content analysis of advertisements in magazines for children and youth and the inclusion of this issue into a cross-cutting theme in Media Education (for 2nd grade of primary school), including applications in the teaching units. The characteristic of these journals is followed by an analysis of individual advertising messages, including their evaluation. The practical part is focused on the design of educational activities designed for use in lessons of civics and art education in the cross-cutting theme of Media Education. Teaching units are designed based on previous implementation and subsequent evaluation at a primary school in Lhenice during the academic year 2011/12.

This thesis deals with the way of use of children and children elements in commercials, promoting products for children, services that children can use and the products used to care for them. For this purpose, the advertising material was systematically collected. Subsequently, it was analyzed with focus on selected thematic areas: use of cartoon (animated) characters, animals and toys in advertising, use of child in advertising, specifics of the language of advertising and the strategies of communications in advertising. The theoretical part of this thesis first briefly deals with advertising in general terms. However, with regard to the aim of the thesis, it is focused on children's recipients of mediated communication as a specific target group. In the second part of the thesis, the analysis of the collected advertising material is processed. Specific characters and specific roles of the participants, communication methods and strategies of advertising creators are identified in detail. All statements referred in this thesis are verified on the particular examples of advertising. Key words: children, advertising, media education

The media play an indisputable role in human life. Thus, we come across media communication daily in today's world. Online social networks have had a significant role in such communication over the past decade. The Facebook social network presents an example of such a phenomenon, which does not have a rival in terms of its size in the Czech Republic. It has rapidly become a communication media through which millions of people around the world consume various content. In recent years, this platform has been applying and continually adjusting its algorithm to provide users with personalized content. The personalized content is provided on the basis of the algorithm which evaluates what might be appropriate or interesting for people. From this point of view, this thesis called Filter bubbles on Facebook social network is examining the existence of a so-called filter bubble phenomenon. The information bubbles present information isolation in which people lack a diversity of information which would help people to get into an opinion diversification, and therefore to have an opportunity to have a new point of view about a certain phenomenon. This diploma thesis deals with the involvement of the cross-curricular theme of media education in the Czech language teaching. The first part defines the basic concepts of media literacy and media education and describes their development and concepts in education. It also deals with the form of media education in curricular documents, especially in the framework educational programme, and the characteristics of the thematic areas of the cross-curricular theme of media education involved in this document. Subsequently, it deals with the possibilities of media education realization and with the use of textbooks and other methodological and teaching materials and projects. In the second part of the thesis, the school education programmes of three selected grammar schools are analysed, on the basis of data obtained by own qualitative research, by answers of respondents from semi-structured interviews and by specific teaching situations. The aim of the research part is to provide information on the implementation of media education and on the state of the relevant cross-curricular topic integration into teaching at selected grammar schools. The focus of concern is also whether the topics defined in the Framework Educational Programme for Grammar Schools are fulfilled in media education.

This Diploma Thesis deals with the problem of cyberbullying at basic schools and its place in the lessons of media education. The theoretical part is divided into two parts. The first part handles with the specification of lessons of media education as they are defined in the ?RVP ZV?. It also mentions the recommended expected outputs which in the field of media education include also the problem of safe using of the internet and mobile phones at schools. The second part handles with cyberbullying considering its actuality and differences from the classic bullying. The methods of preventing and possible solutions are emphasized as well as the introduction of some stories from the reality. The practical part describes the circumstances of creating the lessons. This is followed by the description of six linked lessons and the evaluation of the process of the education. The evaluation is based on the feed-back from the students and their suggestions. The aim of my Diploma Thesis is to show a possible way of the realisation of lessons including the problem of cyberbullying in the lessons of media education. I also wanted to refer to the importance of bringing this problem to basic schools.

This thesis deals with gender stereotypes in media. It is divided into two parts, one of which {--} a theoretical part {--} presents several theorethical concepts of gender in advertisement and media by some experts like Erving Goffman, Judith Williamson or Libora Oates-Indruchová. This part deals also with problems of media education and opportunities for realization of practical exercises as far as gender is concerned. The second part of this thesis is created for a practical purposes. It consists of seven practical activities focused on gender stereotypes in media which can be used at primary school as a schoolwork. A practical exercises aims to extand a students` knowledge of gender stereotypes which are presentated in media and at the same time find out how these stereotypes are percieved. At the end of the second part is described a feed-back which will be gained at the primary school Bezdrevská in České Budějovice.
