A goal-setting intervention with motocross racers : a case study investigating the effects of an intervention on perceived motivation, confidence, and self-efficacy

Fleming, Tracey Laura January 2014 (has links)
This study aimed to investigate the effects that a specifically tailored goal-setting program would have on two motocross racers in terms of their self-efficacy and motivation, as well as the process of designing this intervention. This case-study approach involved a mixed methods approach, consisting of pre-intervention and post-intervention assessments, interviews, and performance profiles. The tools used include Vealey’s (1986) Competitive Orientation Inventory (COI), Gill and Deeter’s (1988) Sport Orientation Questionnaire (SOQ), performance profiles, and semi-structured interviews. The goal-setting intervention lasted a total of five weeks. The results from the preintervention and post-intervention assessments were compared to determine whether any changes in motivation or self-efficacy occurred during the intervention. For the first participant, significant changes in both motivation and self-efficacy were present in addition to significant changes in competitive orientation. For the second participant, there were no significant changes in either motivation or self-efficacy. However, for the second participant there was also no change in competitive orientation. Findings suggest that the focus and competitive orientation of an athlete have a significant influence on the types of goals set, and consequently on positive changes in motivation, confidence, and self-efficacy. The influence of the competitive orientation in athletes also highlighted the importance of attaining a balance between performance and outcome goal-related activities. It was also discovered through qualitative assessment that this program is suitable for particular groups of athletes such as those who are injured, display an external locus of causality or are otherwise not performing at their prime.

"REBELLEN ROUTE"

Becerra Carrasco, Milagros Patricia, Becerra Carrasco, Fabiola Katherine, Castro Meza, Anderson Josué, Rojas Santiago, Doris Pieryna de Los Ángeles 01 March 2022 (has links)
In the present document a project was developed on the development of an application for motorcyclists in Peru. With an innovative presentation in the Peruvian textile industry, where the appropriate clothing for motorcyclists has not yet been industrialized. The aim of this application is to offer users of motorized two-wheeled vehicles more offers and to make them aware of the danger of not acquiring the right clothing for motorcycle riding. First, we will talk about the market study where the analysis of the target public, the possible competitors that are in the current market, a survey was conducted to detect potential customers and strategies were proposed to properly and optimally execute the product. Subsequently, an organizational, tax, legal and financial study was carried out to help evaluate the viability of the project with a five-year projection. This allowed us to make adjustments regarding the amounts of investment needed, as well as costs, expenses and profits. / Trabajo de investigación

Coupables d'être vulnérables, les motocyclistes face aux politiques de sécurité routière en France et en Europe / Motorcyclists facing road safety policies in France and Europe : guilty of being vulnerable

Berger, Denis 08 April 2015 (has links)
This thesis is devoted to an aspect of road safety policy, an almost universal public policy, and to a particular category of drivers, namely motorcyclists. They represent both a distinct road users' group, subject as such to specific regulations, and, at least when there are and do consider themselves as motorcycle riders, a social group. When the French road safety policy was designed, in the early 70's, motorcyclists turned out to be an unexpected problem. After vanishing during the 60's, the motorcycle was back in large numbers with new and young users. The state therefore invented a way of dealing with the unprecedented risk they represented. Among several options, it chose a repressive policy whose evolution we will trace from the 1970s to today. This policy was grounded on moral justifications and strengthened by an inadequate, incomplete and sometimes fictitious statistical body. This policy endangered a social group ready to defend itself, thus creating an organized opposition able to reorientate it partially. To this day, motorcycles remain an opponent the state has to cope with. To deal with this subject, it seems relevant to use the findings of interactionist sociology and to analyse this policy from a diachronic point of view, starting in 1972. We will study this subject at different scales and proceed to various comparisons between countries or capitals. Furthermore, we'll see how it compares to public policy that deals, in a very different manner, with users of another two-wheel vehicle, the bicycle.
