The main objective of the thesis was to define and analyze key aspects of managerial work in multicultural environment, in one of the Shared Services Center department, of multinational company based in Prague, Czech Republic. Further thesis aimed to define essential competencies of the successful manager and leader driving performance of multicultural department and provides recommendations to improve managerial performance in key aspects of manager s work such as communication, motivation, performance management and cross-cultural leadership. It is argued that presence of intercultural interactions between managers and their subordinates, impacts effectiveness of the managerial performance. Thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. First part of the thesis explores theoretical concepts regarding culture, communication, motivation and leadership with respect to multicultural environment specifics. In the second part, used research methods, conducted research analysis and outcomes are presented. Further in practical part recommendation towards analyzed aspects of managerial work that would lead to higher overall department performance are defined.

The diploma thesis deals with the content and specific features of the multicultural education in the USA. It describes the evolution of the country's migration processes and its multicultural education together with current issues of the country in this field. The second part of the thesis engages in the examination of American teachers' real experience with the multicultural education, discrimination and racism in American schools via interviewing. Their experience is used as inspiration to propose a school project, which is a part of this thesis, that would be applicable in the Czech educational environment. It focuses on the important Afro-American personalities presented to high school students in an interactive and entertaining way.

This master's thesis is concerned with the understanding of identity in the multicultural education in the Czech educational system - more precisely by the construction of identity. Multicultural education is the main educational stream, when it comes to the education against racism, xenophobia, intolerance or discrimination. In the Czech Republic, the multicultural education is one of the cross-subjects defined in the Educational Framework Programs. Lately, there have been many criticisms and concerns regarding multicultural education's tools including the identity politics due to its inability of reaching the proclaimed goals and objectives. Sometimes, it does quite the opposite - it reproduces dangerous stereotypes in the society and perpetuates discrimination. Identity is the key element in the multicultural education. How we perceive ourselves and others, influences many spheres of our lives. Whether the groups are constructed positively or negatively influences for example the allocation of benefits. Within this regard, through the discursive analysis, the construction of identity in the multicultural education is examined. Romani music and its incorporation into the school education is the theme of this thesis. The aim is to provide fundamental information about Romani culture and music and to inspire teachers to include multicultural and ethnic topics into their lessons. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part (first and second chapter) deals with Romani people and their value system, language and its pronunciation. It describes the main characteristics of traditional and contemporary Romani music, while a separate subchapter focuses on Czech songs about Romani people. The following practical part (third and fourth chapter) describes the use of Romani music for both, Romani and non-Romani, children. First, the projects Čhavorenge a Čhavorikano luma are presented, the aim of which is to remind Romani children of their traditional music and the values of their culture. The way of teaching Romani music at a selected elementary school with a large percentage of Romani students is also mentioned. The fourth chapter introduces the possibilities of using Romani music for non-Romani children. It includes songbooks, song collections and arrangements for children and student choirs. Multikulturní výchova na základních školách v České republice / Multiculture Education in Czech Basic Schools

Czech society's attitudes to minorities are relatively negative or xenophobic. Due to globalization is the number of immigrants in our society permanently rising and that's why it's necessary to prepare next generations, via multicultural education, to living in plural society and to respecting different ways of life. That's why I deal with the question, how multicultural education works in practice in my diploma thesis. The aim is trough qualitative research (document analysis and case study) find out activities of state, non-governmental sector and teachers and possible shortcomings in multicultural education. Another aim is to explore results of multicultural education that means knowledge of students and whether the number of minorities in school could affect multicultural education. This hypothesis wasn't validated and the research exposed that different number of minorities in school doesn't affect the education. However, what could negatively affect multicultural education are medium, unsuitable educational materials, unsatisfactory training of teachers and control of multicultural education in practice, causing that students are quite good informed on the one hand, nevertheless they got negative attitudes to minorities on the other hand.
