Nacionalismus v architektuře: Opava/Troppau 1900-1938 / Nationalism in architecture: Opava/Troppau 1900-1938

Graca, Ivo January 2011 (has links)
This Magister Thesis called "Nacionalism in Architecture: Opava / Troppau 1900-1938" is focusing on a specifically Central-European issue typical to a town situated in a cultural peripherie - merging of national tendencies originally formed as a sort of animosity between national majority and national minority, and vice versa. These tendencies are maped especially on the field of architecture. The wider cultural-historical situation of the era is characterized by the fall of Austro-Hungarian Empire, dawn of modern national states, and last but not least, the former German majority suddenly facing a completely new political ambiance. Therefore, the manifestations of architectural nationalism are closely linked to the defensive efforts of given nations. They all strive to preserve their traditional or newly fought positions. Thus, the major goal of the thesis is show how the political interests are demonstrated by the artistic means in the realm of architecture. Key words Nationalism Architecture Opava Silesia

Význam Velehradských poutí vrámci českých moderních dějin / The Pilgrimage to Velehrad and its significance during the Modern Era of Czech History

Valentová, Anežka January 2018 (has links)
The Pilgrimage to Velehrad and its significance during the Modern Era of Czech History The purpose of my thesis is to introduce pilgrimage as a phenomenon that can expose various discourses; strengthening and framing collective identity and manifesting various interest groups in the foreground of changeable historical contexts. To explain this religious tradition, I am using a concept of so called, 'social drama': Pilgrimage has a cohesive function as well as being a platform for social and political expression. With the help of archival sources, I focus on the pilgrimage to Velehrad in the period between the second half of the 19th Century and the latter period of the 20th. In the era of the Habsburg monarchy, we can see in Velehrad especially, a realization of the official state and church discourse in competition with nationally motivated tendencies for manifestation. During the First Czechoslovak Republic these events are used to present a newly Catholically based national identity under the influence of state and church. In the Communist era interest groups expressed their orientation against the state, but tendencies to manifest the ideology of the regime persisted unerringly in the background.

Ženy a otázka irské nezávislosti / Women and the Question of Irish Independence

Blažková, Olga January 2011 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with women who played an active part in the struggle for Irish independence in the years 1890-1921. The women who I mainly focused on weren`t mere auxiliaries to men. Even though Ireland at that time was a highly conservative country, where the role of both sexes was strictly divided, these women managed to challenge social conventions. They founded their own national organizations, which (perhaps in their size, definitely in their prominence) had then no equivalent in other European countries. They used every opportunity to assert themselves in political as well as military fields and some of them even took up high political posts. Therefore besides depicting the actual activities of women on behalf of the national movement, this work is trying to evaluate the mutual relationship between nationalism and the question of women`s emancipation. The main events of the Anglo-Irish conflict then provide the background for this work. According to this the diploma is divided chronologically into three main chapters, which deal with the periods before and after the first world war. That is because the world war contributed largely to the breakout of the Easter uprising and the following rise of a mass revolutionary movement in Ireland. The diploma ends with gains of a dominion...

Edelmannová, Petra January 2008 (has links)
