Konstrukce "Heimat" v oblasti slezských Krkonoš, organizace a diskurs (1880-1914) / Constructing Heimat in the Silesian Giant Mountains, Organization and Discourse 1880-1914

Schlosser, Ludovic Bernard Nicolas January 2017 (has links)
in English Germany has a long history of political fragmentation, with local and regional identities playing a crucial role in the making of Germanhood. In the last decades, historical scholarship has depicted the process of rallying local identities to the national cause. Dealing with this issue is essential because it shows the variety of the concept of Heimat [home or local homeland]1 in various territories of imperial Germany. Nevertheless, this process on the local level was not yet thoroughly examined in the case of the Giant Mountains' region before the First World War. Due to to its geographical position and the strong local cohesion shaping the homeland, this case study enables to further such historical researches, which often concentrates on the German historical regions, and not on the study of a local territory shaped by tourism. The object of the following thesis is to question the meanings assigned to the notion of Heimat in the Silesian Giant Mountains for the local activists and inhabitants, and thus, to write the history of the construction of Heimat. By using a methodology based upon different disciplines (respectively, the French "géohistoire", literary theory, sociology), the research analyses many phenomena attached to other and recent historiographic domains, such as...

Zahraniční politika Itálie na přelomu tisíciletí s důrazem na bezpečnostní problematiku / Foreign policy of Italy at the turn of the millennium, with an emphasis on security issues

Turečková, Iva January 2008 (has links)

This thesis describes history of Catalan nationalism and analyzes the motives that lead to separatist tendencies in Catalonia. It also focuses on the impact of devolution and separation on Catalonia and Spain. Catalans are a historic nation with their own language and traditions. Since the establishment of the Kingdom of Spain they have sought a greater autonomy within pluralistic Spain until now. In the history, they experienced numerous efforts of assimilation and suppression, mostly during the dictatorship of General Franco. But the Catalans defended their uniqueness and during the transition to democracy and with the new Constitution of 1978, they gained considerable portion of autonomy. In the history, Catalans did not demand independence, they wanted to be part of the federal Spain. However, due to the economic crisis and the rejection of the greater autonomy, Catalan nationalism converted to separatism.

Válka a nacionalismus. Formování bosňácké a srbské národní identity / War and Nationalism. Formation of Bosniak and Serbian national identity

Žaba, Jakub January 2019 (has links)
The thesis analyzes formation of Muslim nationalism identity during the 20th century and then its radical discursive transformation in the context of the Bosnian war between 1992 and 1995 and the conflicting struggle with neighboring Serbian nationalism. Internal redefinition of the Muslim/Bosniak national identity is examined in the context of a number of structural, institutional and discursive continuities and discontinuities, as both a contingent and determined event at the same time. As a result of these heterogeneous processes, the current Bosniak national identity is mainly homogenized around the symbols of Islam and the national myth of eternal suffering of Bosniaks and the age-long genocidal endeavor of Non-Bosniaks that resulted in the "Serbian genocide/Holocaust" over Bosniaks between 1992 and 1995. Key words War, nationalism, national identity, ethnic conflict, nation-building, Bosniak nationalism, Muslim nationalism, Serbian nationalismm, Islam, genocide, Holocaust, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian war

Demokratizace na Ukrajině po Majdanu v období 2014-2019 / Democratization in Ukraine after the Maidan in the period 2014-2019

Honda, Myroslava January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with Ukraine and its political transition to democracy, which is linked to the declaration of independence in the 1990s. Presently, the political system in Ukraine, despite its liberalization efforts, is ranked among hybrid regimes as it fulfills the elements of both, democracy and competitive authoritarianism. Key terms: democracy, liberalism and neo- liberalism, for this one-case study, are defined in the theoretical part of the thesis. These concepts are used in a practical part that deals with political development since the declaration of independence to the Maidan and the subsequent five years up to the presidential elections held in March 2019. In conclusion, it is shown whether the political system in Ukraine inclines towards the liberal democracy, or, on the contrary, if it has turned back to the authoritarian and nationalist regime.
