Bosňácké politické elity mezi Evropou a islámem (1990-2008) / Bosniak political elites between Europe and Islam (1990-2008)

Oravec, Radek January 2009 (has links)
Following diploma thesis is focused on the position of Islam in the politics of Bosnian Muslims alias Bosniaks. It examines the period from the first multiparty elections to the declaration of independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina and war till the process of europeization in the 21st century. The author of this thesis is focused on the revival of Islam in society and politics in this time period of modern history after forty years of communist rule. Due to nationalism of all ex- Yugoslav nations becoming acute this process of revival was followed by radicalization and signs of extremism. Islam was also used in politics and tightly connected with it exactly in the spirit of older Bosniak ideological concepts. The presentation of these tendencies is the content of the first part of diploma thesis. In the second part the author is focused on activation of the policy of western democracies and International Communities which subsequently rolled back the influence of Islamic countries on Bosniak political leaders. In the survey of postwar development is also introduced the Office of High Representative of UN and its essential influence on the laicization of Bosniak politics resulting to disappearance of radical displays of Islamization. The outcome of the activation of western diplomacy was then slow...

Politický vývoj postsaddámovského Iráku. Šíité mezi sektářstvím a nacionalismem. / Political development in post-Saddam Iraq. The Shia between sectarianism and nationalism.

Klasová, Pamela Markéta January 2011 (has links)
This thesis examines the Iraqi Shia community's evolving approach towards and their position in the Iraqi state, especially after the American-led invasion in 2003. The focus is on concepts of nationalism, sectarianism, and identity within the Iraqi state and the Shia community. This thesis is subdivided into two main parts, the first of which considers the time period before 2003. Contemporary Shia identity and standing in Iraq was forged in the crucible of pre-2003 Iraq, so a thorough background in this time period is essential for understanding events after the invasion. Since the founding of the modern Iraqi state, and even during Ottoman times, Shias have traditionally been excluded from positions of power. This political division reflected the socioeconomic divide between the wealthier Sunni and poorer Shia communities. This situation resulted in sharp barriers between Sunnis and Shias. Although the Sunni-dominated monarchy was not actively trying to incorporate the Shias, economic and educational progress eventually reached some in the Shia community beginning in the 1930s and 1940s, and several of these sectarian barriers faded. Partly due to a secularizing trend, the 1950s and 1960s (the "intermezzo" republican period) witnessed the greatest amount of intermingling between these sects in...

Číst Pekaře. Čtyři interpretační cesty k jednomu textu / Reading Pekař. Four Interpretations of one Text

Fapšo, Marek January 2013 (has links)
Reading Pekař. Four Interpretations of one Text Marek Fapšo Abstract of Final Thesis Following thesis is an empirical contribution to the theory of historiography. It starts with analysis of current situation in the historical sciences, which can be epistemologically called as methodological pluralism. That means, there are many equal but often antagonistic points of view on the past. In the center, the thesis offers four analytical interpretations of Josef Pekař's text Czechs as the Apostles of Barbarism, which was written by this famous Czech historian in 1897. Four analysis are based on four methodological concepts: Émile Durkheim's sociology of religion, Alexandre Koyre's history of science, Roman Ingarden's phenomenology of literature and Walter Benjamin's philosophy of history. This quasi-empirical part is finished and completed by theoretical reflection of the four attempts. It leads to a theory of historiography inspired by philosophy of Hans-Georg Gadamer. The main task of following thesis is to consider relation between chosen method and historical knowledge (of truth).

Idea of banal nationalism from Michael Billig as a force which sustain and reproduce national states was examined in next part. Last theoretical basis of thesis is consisting of mythological level of media content with focus on sociocultural phenomenons of modern age. Lepič, Martin January 2012 (has links)
The subject of research of this presented diploma thesis is the evaluation of the factors that influence the genesis of nationalist aspirations and separatist tendencies on two scale levels: the level of Spanish Autonomous Communities, and between comarcas in the Basque Country and Catalonia. Emphasis is placed primarily on the differentiation between the influence of economic aspirations and ethno-national identity. On the theoretical level, the thesis discusses approaches to nationalism, its typology, resources and activation, as well as the development of social organization and the asymmetrical division of powers in Spain. For the purposes of analysis, two indicators of intensity of expressed nationalism are used - constitutional preference and voting behavior - and then each are tested in relation to socio-economic characteristics, ethno-cultural manifestations, or relevant demographic characteristics. The thesis also evaluates the system of set fiscal redistribution between regions and central government.
