En studie om ungdomars uppfattning kring demokrati, rättvisa & framtidstro i Värnamo kommunFält, Hanna January 2006 (has links)
In the end of the last century the interest for youth politics increased in Sweden. The causes for the increased interest were the more obvious youth politics questions and problems, for example the increased youth unemployment. In 1998 the government wrote down national goals and instructions for the youth politic work in a government bill (1998/99:115). This government bill describes how the youth politic work should be carried at a local level in the municipality. The purpose with this study is to investigate young people, in Värnamo kommun, view of their own situation. The study´s focus lies om three main concept; democracy, justice and faith in the future. To carry through the study, I have used a qualitative method; literature studies and empiricism, in form of interviews with young people and municipal council in Värnamo kommun. In the result of the study you can see that young people in Värnamo kommun quite well are satisfied with ther situation. The young people in the municipality believe in democracy but they really don´t know how to influence in the society. The municipal council tells that politicians are working for better information about how to influence for young people. They are also working to get young people to get more interest in politics. The young people have different background and they are conscious about how that effects their chances in life. The most of the young people have good faith in the future. They are not afraid of the unemployment.

Effects of StrengthsQuest on Community Congregations at Bandina Christian Youth Camp in TexasBassham, Clay R. 2009 August 1900 (has links)
A quantitative research study was conducted with teenagers attending Bandina Christian
Youth Camp for one week in the summer of 2008. Students were divided into two
groups; a control group and an intervention group. All participants were given a Self-
Reflective Survey immediately prior to and following the week of summer camp. In
addition to the pre- and post- Self-Reflective Surveys, the intervention group was
required to complete Gallup's StrengthsQuest assessment (to determine his/her five
greatest strengths) and e-mail those findings to this researcher before the first camp
session.
Once at camp, the intervention group participated in a five day Faith Based
Strengths Training class one hour a day. The intervention group recognized and
identified all 34 strengths, learned the uniqueness of his/her top five strengths, identified
and related to famous individuals and their strengths and explored optimal career fields
that best correlated to the participants' top five strengths.
Strengths Training proved to be an effective tool in changing the intervention group's self confidence, sense of direction and his or her personal desire to learn more
about Strengths collectively with a .03 p at an alpha level of .05. Youth based national
organizations such as Boys & Girls Club, Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes (FCA) and others could greatly enhance their programs by
incorporating Strengths Training into their curriculum, as Strengths Training builds on
the development of core values, positive self image and character development that all of
these national organizations strive to provide the youth of today.
The summer camp experience offers a distinct opportunity for learning and
exploration. This unique educational atmosphere sets up a positive cognitive
environment where youth are typically more receptive to learning new concepts and
ideas. The intervention group outcomes for this quantitative research study resulted in a
positive outcome with only five hours of training. This infers a positive impact to not
only the Y generation, but future generations to come and raises the need for more
research in how these youth based national organizations can not only implement
Strengths Training into their existing programs but network Strengths Training.

Faith Based Organizations In The Struggle Against Poverty Deniz Feneri Welfare And Solidarity Association Sample Of Ankara BranchAksular, Arda Deniz 01 September 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Along with the power loss of welfare regimes in Europe, the problems which have always existed in the field of poverty started to reemerge as the one of the primary matters of humanity. However, in this period, the state whose intervention to economy was being already argued was deprived of the ability of intervention to the issue of poverty. After 1980s, the new generation social aid organizations emerged in the area of welfare, which was covered by the modern state institutions before. Some of these organizations can be titled as faith based organizations (FBOs) which are the organizations that refer directly or indirectly to a religion or religious values, and they function as welfare providers or as political actors. Today, faith based social aid organizations disperse into a wide area, from the sub groups of armed organizations to worship centers of several religions. These organizations perform a welfare function by carrying a number of activities. This study examines the FBOs in the sample of a non-governmental organization, Deniz Feneri (Light House) Association in Turkey. In this regard, the study opens a discussion for a new concept for the world as well as for Turkey.

Spirituality in the salesperson: the impact of the golden rule and personal faith on workplace job attitudesSmith, James Garry 17 September 2007 (has links)
Do salespeople who follow the Golden Rule or let their faith influence their
behavior serve their customers better or like their jobs and employers more than other
salespeople? The Golden Rule is a quote from Christ found in Matthew 7:12 NIV and is
considered a universal ethical principle taught by all major religions. It is also a
behavioral standard for many in business. A review of the sales, marketing, and
organizational literatures, however, failed to uncover studies which assess the
relationships of following the Golden Rule or a personâÂÂs faith or spirituality with key
business outcomes. Salespeople impact the performance and perception of their firms,
yet are regarded as highly unethical by the public. Therefore, an investigation of how
these variables influence their behavior seems justified.
A Golden Rule Disposition (GRD) is conceptualized as a higher-order
personality disposition which influences the traits of agape love, forgiveness, gratitude,
humility, and selflessness. Personal faith is defined as a higher order personality trait
blending a desire for a personal relationship with God (the Divine or Supreme Being)
with core personality influences on the behaviors of an individual. A comprehensive model was developed and tested using structural equation
modeling to investigate a GRDâÂÂs relationships with job satisfaction, organizational
commitment, propensity to leave, life satisfaction, and customer orientation. Personal
faithâÂÂs influence on these relationships was tested using moderated multiple regression.
Completed questionnaires were collected from 142 members of an automobile
dealerâÂÂs sales force to provide the data for this study. A GRD influenced all proposed
lower order traits except for selflessness and humility. A GRD had a positive effect on
all dependent variables except propensity to leave and life satisfaction.
Faith was not a moderator of any relationships, but was found to be positively
related to forgiveness and gratitude. A surprising result was the lack of a relationship
between job satisfaction and life satisfaction. These findings should be important to
organizations that practice the marketing concept. The combined effect of following the
Golden Rule and personal faith leads to more satisfied customers and a more stable
workforce to meet organizational goals.

Study on mutual fund investor's investment behavior and risk preference after financial crisisHsu, Shih-pin 09 September 2009 (has links)
The subprime mortgage of America caused the global financial crisis. Most invest bankers and brokers were hurt deeply by the financial crisis.
Due to the collapse of the financial system, the value of the investor¡¦s assets reduced rapidly. Those investors who invest in the mutual funds are exposed to the high risk. The mutual fund investors become the victims of the herding behavior. People invest in the hot investment market like Brazil, China, Russia etc..
The undue sales of the variable universal life (VUL) and the structure notes have destroyed the faith relationship between the investors and the financial consultants. However, the financial consultants did not show up the investment risk entirely in the process of sales. Therefore the investors neglected the risk which they could bear. For this reason, the risk of their investment behavior also exceeded the limit.
Consequently, we discuss the change of the investors¡¦ investment behavior and risk preference of the mutual fund investors.
