Tikinčiųjų bendruomenės galimybės vykdyti paauglių delinkventinės elgsenos prevenciją / Faith - Based Community's Possibilities to Play the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency

Paauglių delinkventinė elgsena – svarbi socialinė problema šių dienų visuomenėje. Tikslingai veikianti tikinčiųjų bendruomenė gali tapti vienu iš efektyvių tokios elgsenos prevencijos šaltinių. Šio darbo tikslas - teoriškai ir empiriškai išanalizuoti paauglių delinkventinės elgsenos prevencijos vykdymo galimybes tikinčiųjų bendruomenės kontekste. Tyrimas parodė, kad paaugliams skirtos tikinčiųjų bendruomenės veiklos iliustruoja delinkventinės elgsenos prevencijos principus, taip pat buvo atskleista, kad ypatingai didelis vaidmuo tikinčiųjų bendruomenei tenka vykdant pirminę ir antrinę delinkventinės elgsenos prevenciją. / Delinquent behaviour of adolescents is an important social problem in a modern society. A religious community acting persistently may become one of effective sources of prevention of such behaviour.The conclusion is, that the social role of a religious community is based on the history of the church, while a modern religious community unites believers belonging to organization based on various religions who use different forms to solve problems of people feeling social exclusion, among them – adolescents of delinquency risk. Manifestations of delinquency arise from biological, psychological, social and pedagogical, social and economical and ethical and moral reasons that (except for biological reasons) may be effectively influenced and eliminated by activities carried out in a religious community, therefore primary, secondary and tertiary prevention possibilities get expressed here. The study showed that activities of religious communities meant for adolescent’s illustrate principles of prevention of delinquent behaviour, it has also revealed that a religious community plays especially significant role in primary and secondary prevention of delinquent behaviour.

Vår startpunkt inför denna c-uppsats var att vi hört talas om personer som arbetar med socialt arbete inom kristna organisationer. S:ta Clara kyrka kom i fokus. Syftet men uppsatsen formulerade vi så småningom till att öka kunskapen om anställdas och volontärers upplevelser av deras tros betydelse i det sociala arbete som de utför inom S:ta Clara kyrka. Studien har genomförts utifrån tio kvalitativa, semistrukturerade intervjuer med personer som är anställda eller volontärer inom S:ta Clara. Resultatet av studien har vi analyserat med hjälp av tidigare forskning samt teoretiska resonemang knutna till de teman som formats av våra intervjuresultat. Vi har även analyserat våra slutsatser utifrån Aron Antonovskys teori om Känsla av sammanhang (KASAM). Resultaten visar att våra intervjupersoner upplever att deras personliga tro har betydelse i det sociala arbete de utför inom S:ta Clara. Kristen tro är både ett motiv till och drivkraft samt ett stöd i arbetet. Även bönen har betydelse. Utifrån Antonovskys beskrivning av KASAM teorin skulle informanternas tro kunna sägas ge dem en ökad känsla av sammanhang. Detta genom den meningsfullhet som följer av att använda den kristna tron som motiv till arbetet, känslan av hanterbarhet, som ökar genom att använda bön i arbetet och begriplighet till följd av att de kan tolka upplevelser utifrån sin tro. Svårigheter med att använda sin tro i arbetet kan vara att det kan bli svårt att sätta gränser i arbetet, då tron används som motiv och drivkraft. Andra svårigheter kan vara att bön inom arbetet kan innebära etiska problem, som att bönen kan leda till att lägga över sin tro på andra människor, som inte är intresserade av detta.

Darbo tyrimo problema: nepakankamas šiandieninių paauglių dėmesys teologinėms dorybėms ir neaiški jų samprata. Tikslas: atskleisti teologinių dorybių sampratą ir nustatyti jų aktualumą X mokyklos 14-15 metų amžiaus mokiniams. Metodai: darbe naudota teorinė medžiaga išanalizuota literatūros šaltinių analizės metodu. Gauti tyrimo duomenys apibendrinti remiantis kokybinės turinio analizės (content) metodu. Darbo empirinėje dalyje naudotas kokybinis tyrimas, kurio dėka galima tiksliau ir išsamiau atskleisti tiriamųjų požiūrį į nagrinėjamą objektą. Kokybinio tyrimo instrumentas – pusiau struktūrizuotas interviu. Tyrime remtasi egzistencialistinės filosofijos atstovo M. Buber (2001) filosofinės sampratos idėjomis. Darbe taip pat naudotasi Katalikų Bažnyčios katekizmu, popiežių Jono Pauliaus II, Benedikto XVI, bei Pranciškaus enciklikomis, Apaštališkųjų Tėvų, Bažnyčios Tėvų bei vėlesnių laikų šventųjų raštuose pateikiamomis nuostatomis. Pirmoje darbo dalyje aptarta teologinių dorybių: tikėjimo, vilties ir meilės samprata ir reikšmė Apaštališkųjų Tėvų, pasirinktų Bažnyčios Tėvų ir vėlesnių laikų šventųjų raštijoje. Antrojoje darbo dalyje analizuojami Bažnyčios dokumentai ir juose aprašomų teologinių dorybių samprata, reikšmė, ugdymosi praktikos. Trečiojoje empirinėje dalyje atskleista šiandieninių paauglių teologinių dorybių samprata ir požiūris į jas. Objective: To disclose the concept of theological virtues and define their urgency for 14-15 year old pupils of X School. Methods: theoretical materials used in the Paper are analysed using the method of analysis of literature sources. The received research data are summarized using the method of qualitative content analysis. Qualitative analysis was used in the empiric part of the Paper, helping to disclose the view of respondents of the research subject more accurately and detailed. The tool of the qualitative analysis is a semi-structured interview. The research is based on the ideas of philosophy concept of the representative of existential philosophy M. Buber (2001). Catechism of Catholic Church, encyclics of Pope Jonas Paulius II, Benedict XVI, as well as the provisions provided in writs of Apostolic Fathers, Fathers of the Church and other writs of later days. Proper basicality for belief in God : Alvin Plantinga and the evidentialist objection to theism

This study explores how successful Alvin Plantinga is in his contention that belief in God can be obtained and maintained in a basic way that attains and retains rationality for reflective persons. Plantinga indeed calls into question any confident presumption that theistic belief is epistemically irresponsible. He not only seriously challenges the necessity for propositional evidence to be available for such belief to be justified, he also supplies significant support for the conclusion that it remains legitimate even if it faces a preponderance of contrary considerations. However, Plantinga does not convincingly demonstrate that basic theistic belief merits privileged status by virtue of a character sufficiently analogous to paradigmatic perceptual, memory and ascriptive beliefs. Nor does he adequately argue its independence from the bearing of evidentialist concerns, especially regarding its background moorings. He needs to do more work to show the full warrant for theistic belief.

TIKKUN OLAM A FAITH-BASED APPROACH FOR ASSISTING OLDER ADULTS IN HEALTH SYSTEM NAVIGATION

The complexity and lack of coordination of the U.S. health care system is especially challenging for older adults, many of whom have multiple chronic conditions. The faith community is a potential partner to assist them, due to strong religiosity of older adults and specific characteristics of faith communities. This study explores the knowledge and practices of faith community nurses (FCNs) in meeting care coordination needs of older adults and identifies a model of gap-filling by FCN practice. An approach combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches was used. A survey was distributed to all known FCNs in Kentucky. From the 60 respondents, 15 FCNs were selected for personal interviews, and six care recipients were also interviewed. Survey data revealed a relatively older workforce, M=57 years, with 73% in nursing for more than 20 years. All served as FCNs in their own congregations, mostly as volunteers. FCNs relied on informal rather than formal assessments, with little consistency in type of health-related information obtained from congregants. The combined interview data revealed themes including, strong grounding in faith, sense of congregational family, reliance on general nursing assessment skills, intentional empowerment, bridging expanses, trust, and continuity. Findings suggest that FCNs in Kentucky identify and fill significant gaps in health care for older adults. Spirituality and religious rituals were important for FCNs and those they served. Congregants sought out FCNs to answer questions, interpret medical information, and assist with health care interactions. The stability of the FCNs in the lives of congregations was regarded as important; congregants counted on FCNs presence through transitions in health. A model to explain FCN intervention was developed based on integration of a social ecological perspective with the WHO International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health. This model reflects contextual factors that occur throughout nested environments that surround each individual, including immediate family, congregational family, health and social care systems, and societal policies. FCNs serve as a bridge between and among these nested environments, connecting them and facilitating change within each level.

The purpose of the study was to provide training and follow-up sessions for Sunday school teachers to increase the use of inclusive teacher behaviors (opportunities to respond, behavior specific praise, and opportunities to participate) for educating a child with moderate to severe disability. A multiple baseline across behaviors design was used to evaluate the effectiveness of training and follow-up sessions for a Sunday school teacher that had a child with moderate to severe disability in her class. The results showed training and follow-up were effective in teaching inclusive teacher behaviors within a church setting.

Psykoterapins betydelse för patienters gudsupplevelser / Psychotherapy's importance to patients´experiences of God

Inledning: Människans gudsbilder avslöjar något om de möjligheter och problemområden hon står inför. Att öka kunskapen kring hur gudsföreställningar kan bemötas i psykoterapin är viktigt för forskningen, i synnerhet i mångfaldssamhället. Syftet med studien var att undersöka patienters erfarenheter av om, och i så fall hur, psykoterapin påverkade deras föreställningar om Gud. Frågeställningarna fokuserade patienternas upplevelser av vad som skedde med deras gudsföreställningar under en psykoterapi och erfarenheterna kring vilka faktorer som eventuellt bidrog till en påverkan på dessa. Metod: Fem patienter som avslutat en psykoterapeutisk behandling intervjuades. Studien hade en kvalitativ forskningsansats och tillämpade en fenomenologisk–hermeneutisk analysmetod. Resultat: Studien visar att gudsbilderna förändras genom psykoterapi. Stränga föreställningar blir friare och nyanseras. Metaforer framträder, vilket bidrar till en ny livssyn. Patientens utveckling hör ihop med gudsbildernas utveckling och vice versa. Bearbetningen leder till ökad känsla av ansvar, intresse för den egna utvecklingen och ökade möjligheter att relatera till andra. Förändringsfaktorer beror framför allt på terapeutens sätt att vara och intervenera. Diskussion: Resultaten visar möjlighet att arbeta fruktbart med fundamentalistiskt orienterade patienter. Gud som övergångsobjekt uppfattas som falsk trygghet och den ökade känslan av ansvar lindrar depressiva drag. Terapeutens interveneringar har betydelse för gudsbildernas och livstydningens utveckling, liksom terapeutens förkunskap gällande religiös livsvärld. Bearbetning av gudsbilder förändrar självuppfattningen och ökar skapandeförmågan.

The faith dynamic in creationism and evolutionary theory

This study attempts to examine evolutionary theory and creationism objectively without engaging in an apology for or a criticism of either. It compares the presuppositions and assumptions of both systems, and examines the role of faith in religion and in the scientific theory of evolution. After discussing the nature of the scientific method and the development of the theory of evolution, the study explores the dichotomy of faith and reason, the ways in which these operate in theories of intelligent design and theistic evolution, and the question of whether scientific evolutionary theory can be considered to be a secular religion. The thesis argues that acceptance of the scientific theory of evolution is as dependent upon a faith commitment as is adherence to religion, though the type and quality of the two respective faith systems are very different and, therefore, worthy of comparison and contrast.
