Role a postavení ROH v ekonomice ČSSR v 80. letech 20. století / The Role and Position of the Revolutionary Union Organisation in the Economy of Czechoslovakia in the 1980s

Wolf, Vojtěch January 2014 (has links)
The paper's objective is to analyze the work of the Revolutionary Union Organization (ROH) in the Czechoslovak economy of the 1980s. The basic thesis of the paper is the assumption that ROH bodies preferred the interests of the representatives of the Czechoslovak Communist Party to those of workers. The relationship is analyzed on the basis of the employment legislation of the time and the impact of the union organization in its drafting. The paper also examines the contribution of the union organization in the course of the revolutionary changes in Czechoslovak society in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The analysis is based on a critique of sources from that era and a comparison of the role of the ROH in the 1980s and the role of the unions during Prague Spring. On the basis of the objectives set for this paper, the conclusion is that the ROH did have an impact on the work lives of working people, but its leadership lacked funds and, above all, the willingness to effectively protect the interests of working people. Hence, until December 1989, the ROH remained an organization serving, above all, the interests of the Communist Party.

Mnichov jako legitimizační prostředek normalizace v ČSSR. Příspěvek k vlivu masových médií v ČSSR v 70. letech 20. století / Munich Treaty as a legitimizing means for normalization in Czechoslovakia - Contribution to the influence of mass media in Czechoslovakia at the end of the 60' and beginning of 70' of 20th century

Provazníková, Jana January 2012 (has links)
This magister thesis is focused on relationships between mass media, political power and society in Czechoslovakia in the late 60' and in the beginning of 70' in 20th century and desribe the transformation of media atmosphere during the era of political changes in Czechoslovakia, that means the transformation from "liberalized" 60' due to the normalization. I find answers to these questions: What were the most important changes in medial atmosphere in the Czechoslovakia in late 60' and beginning of 70'? Were media and politics connected? How important was the influence of mass media due to the political changes and normalization? Did comunists mass medias have such great power to influence society and persuade people about the rightness of intervention? As a main hypothesis there is the claim, that mass media under the comunists influence wanted to and actually managed to manipulate with people and their opinions. The answers for questions and hypotesis are verified on the basis of a general theory of media history and studies and then specifically analyzed on the concete historical example -- Munich Treaty. Methodologically this work come out of the new political history and discussion that lead to the role of mass media in modern sotieties, and also from the latest scientific literature and archival materials.

Kompozitní indikátory: konstrukce, využití, interpretace / Composite indicators: the construction, usage and interpretation

Hudrlíková, Lenka January 2014 (has links)
This thesis brings a comprehensive view on the construction, usage and interpretation of composite indicators. Methods and techniques, which can be used for constructing composite indicators, are introduced. The focus is on their contribution to the transparent solution of the problem of correlation and compensability among underlying indicators. Transparency in construction of composite indicators is a crucial requirement for obtaining reliable results and their correct interpretation. The thesis consists of two main parts. The first part is theoretically oriented. First, the problem of adequacy and subsequently a measurement of the phenomenon by means of statistical indicators are discussed. Different methods for data normalization, setting a weighting scheme and aggregation are introduced and compared. These three steps are considered to be crucial in a process of constructing a composite indicator and thus, they are the core of the thesis. The aim is to investigate an interaction of normalization methods, weight-setting and aggregation methods, since these steps are not separate. The second part of the thesis consists of two comprehensive cases. Theoretical findings are applied and empirically verified in these cases. I investigated a robustness of the composite indicator depending on a combination of selected methods of normalization, setting weights and aggregation on a set of Europe 2020 indicators. Whereas this first case dealt with the comparative analysis of methods, the second case is focused purely on one issue -- university ranking. The proposed method reacts to criticism of currently published university rankings and takes into account specifics of the particular university as well as the exogenous background characteristics. The main added value rests in a contribution to a discussion about the improvement of construction and overall quality of composite indicators including their interpretation. I pointed out the main concerns and difficulties of composite indicators that often remain unnoticed by users and even constructors. The conclusion brings several beneficial findings, which can be used for the construction of a composite indicator and an interpretation of final scores and ranking. This work can also serve as a scientific ground for further research and development of the methodology of constructing composite indicators.

Mediální obraz pražského jara a nastupující normalizace ve vybraných východočeských tištěných médiích / Media image of the Prague Spring and beginning of the normalization in selected east bohemian printed media

Vlasáková, Kristýna January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis named Media image of the Prague Spring and beginning of normalization in selected East Bohemian print media shows the impact of Prague spring and beginning of normalization on chosen East Bohemian print media. Those are regional newspaper Pochoden, district newspaper Zar and magazine Spiritus, which was created and published by students of University of Chemical Technology in Pardubice city. Both regional newspaper Pochoden and district newspaper Zar were organs of Communist party of Czechoslovakia. For better understanding how big the change was I also worked with these three newspapers during the years 1967 and 1969 (beginning of normalization), so readers can understand how much the writing and content of media evolved during the year 1968. When possible (signed article) I tried to focuse on each journalist and his or hers evolve during analysed years. I was focusing not only on articles written by journalists, but during this time the newspapers published letters from readers, so I can compare which letters were published in 1967, 1968 and 1969. I have chosen this theme because I was born and raised at East Bohemia and my bachelor thesis worked with similar topic (Media image of the Velvet Revolution in Pardubice city), only this time I do not focus solely on Pardubice city....

Možnosti vyučování o období normalizace s využitím české beletrie / History Teaching about the Normalisation Era Using Czech Fiction Literature

Martinovský, Jan January 2020 (has links)
This Master thesis examines Czech literary fiction as a historical source, which can be used as a teaching instrument for understanding the normalisation era. In its theoretical part, the thesis summarizes contemporary Czech historical discourse about the normalisation era. It analyzes the influence of culture and memory on historical consciousness, and the goals and methods of contemporary history teaching. More specifically, it investigates how primary sources can be used in teaching and how cultural historical sources-and fiction literature in particular-can be analyzed. It utilizes constructivist teaching methods with the goal of achieving historical competence. It its practical part, the thesis describes five history lessons that apply findings from the theoretical part. In the lessons, pupils first have the opportunity to explore a wide range of sources, and consequently to research, analyze and interpret them. Later, they work with film excerpts, historical documents and literary fiction. In a final section, the thesis connects the theoretical and practical findings in a reflection of the history lessons.

30 případů majora Zemana (filmová verze a vydané filmové povídky) z hlediska mytizačních postupů / 30 cases of major Zeman (film version and short stories based on the film) and its aspects of mythization

Hřibová, Tereza January 2012 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze a number of mythmaking procedures in the narratives of major Zeman. Its main sources are both the TV series "30 Cases of Major Zeman" and the later adaptations o some of these cases into literary form. The thesis draws inspiration primarily from the theoretical concept of modern mythologies by Roland Bathes, the available analysis of the ideological discourse of normalization and the basic terminology of cultural studies. Its goal is to recognize various mechanisms of signification that embed symbolic meanings that establish the secondary mythical level of individual subjects. The interpretative part of the text focuses on an analysis of the modes of representation of "enemies" and the problematization of allusion and intertextuality as mythmaking instruments.

Vystupování neprofesionálních rockových kapel v Praze v letech 1973-1984 / Public appearances of unofficial rock bands in Prague between 1973-1984

Razím, Tomáš January 2016 (has links)
This thesis deals with the issue of public appearances of amateur rock bands in Prague after the introduction of the so-called "requlifications" which basically destroyed professional rock music in Czechoslovakia. This affected especially the capital city which had witnessed an unprecedented rise of this genre only several years earlier. Thereafter, independent rock music could be practiced only as a hobby, and even the amateur musicians had to face extensive regulations and general mistrust. As a result, opportunities to appear in public were very sparse because organizers were worried about the consequences of such events. The research investigates the mechanisms and conditions for durable opportunities to play publicly in Prague before 1984. The effects of the article Nová vlna se starým obsahem - the pinnacle of the media and social campaign against new forms of rock music, were already becoming apparent in that year and the Union of musicians and its sections - main pillars of independent culture in Czechoslovakia - were dissolved. The conclusion is that in such difficult circumstances persistence, creativity and readiness to lose one's job proved crucial qualities. They enabled people to overcome not only the regulations but mainly the concerns about sanctions for nonconformist appearance and...
