Alfredsson, Tim, Selin, Anders January 2017 (has links)

Chvátal, David January 2021 (has links)
Title: Relation between selected off-ice tests and performance in on-ice Illinois Agility test of ice hockey players between 14-17 years old in Czech elite category. Objectives: The main goal of this thesis was to determine whether the somatotype and selected off-ice tests are significant predictors for performance in the on-ice agility test in ice hockey players in the youth elite category. Methods: The research group consisted 28 ice hockey players (8 forwards and 18 defenders) x̅ = 14,88 ± 0,57. Players played highest youth league during the measurement period. The method of Heath and Carter (1990) was used to determine the somatotype. Squat Jump, Countermovement Jump, Free Arm Countermovement Jump, Sit and Reach, pull-ups and off- ice Illinois Agility with a ball were used as off-ice tests. The Aspin-Welch two-samle T-test with Effect size (ES) Hedges' g was used to evaluate the degree of difference in performance between forwards and defenders. Pearson's correlation coefficient with ES coefficient of determination R2 was applied to determine the tightness of relationships between selected variables. Evaluation of the significance of predictors for performance in on- ice agility tests was performed through multiple regression analysis. The significance of the model was assessed according to the...

Title: Relation between selected off-ice tests, somatotype and performance in on-ice Illinois Agility tests in junior ice hockey players from Czech elite category. Objective: The aim of this thesis was to verify whether the somatotype and off-ice tests are significant predictors for performance in on-ice agility tests in junior ice hockey players from Czech elite category. Methods: The research sample consisted of 32 junior hockey players (17 defenders and 15 forwards) ̅ = 17.64 ± 1.02 from Czech elite category. The Heath and Carter (1990) method for measuring of somatotype was used. The off-ice tests included Squat Jump, Countermovement Jump, Free Arm Countermovement Jump, Broad Jump, Five-Jump test, Sit and Reach, Pull-ups and off-ice Illinois Agility with (small size) ball. Further, on-ice Illinois Agility with puck and Illinois Agility without puck were used as dependent variables. The differences in performance between defenders and forwards were analysed by Aspin-Welch's two-sample T-test with Effect size (ES) Hedges's g. The degree of significance of the predictors for dependent variables in on- ice agility tests was assessed by multiple regression analysis with significance of model at the level of p<0.05 and ES described as adjusted R2 . Results: Comparison of the results achieved by...

Arnošt, Daniel January 2021 (has links)
Title: Development of speed skills in ice hockey in categories U11, U13, U15 Objectives: This master thesis is mainly focusing on verify whether the development of speed skills on the ice in ice hockey is effective off-ice training. Another goal of the thesis is to experimentally verify if the development of speed skills has a different impact on selected age groups according to the same intervention program. Methods: In this master thesis was used the method of quantitative analysis of results. The measurement took place in the form of motor tests, which were compared between two research groups. Results: All categories were divided into two research groups, which completed a six-week intervention training program on-ice and off-ice or only on-ice. In the 20 m direct sprint test and test stop and start, there was a significant improvement more in the experimental group of all categories, which we assessed according to Cohen's d. In the reaction test, only the experimental group U15 improved. In the last agility Illinois test, experimental groups U13 and U15 improved. For the other groups, the players either did not improve significantly or both groups improved equally. Subsequent comparisons between categories showed that the younger categories improved more than the older ones. Keywords: Ice...

Squats as a predictor of on-ice performance in ice hockey

Edman, Sebastian, Esping, Tobias January 2013 (has links)
Introduction: The National Hockey League Entry Draft Combine (NHLED Combine) is considered one of the toughest physical fitness tests an ice hockey player has to go through. The NHLED Combine consists of several fitness tests evaluating the athlete’s aerobic- and anaerobic capacity; lower body power, upper body strength and power, flexibility and anthropometrics; no lower body strength test are employed. Squats are the only exercise used by all National Hockey League (NHL) strength and conditioning coaches yet it is not included in the NHLED Combine. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine which off-ice test correlates best with on-ice performance measured as forward skating speed. We hypothesised that squat one repetition maximum (squat 1RM) would be a better or equal predictor of on-ice performance compared to the current NHLED Combine tests standing long jump (SLJ) and Wingate anaerobic test (WAnT). Method: Eleven male subjects, aged 17.8 ± 0.8 years, performed an on-ice sprint followed by the off-ice tests SLJ, WAnT and squat 1RM. Results: A correlation was found between sprint time on-ice and SLJ (r= -0,727, p= 0.006), Wingate anaerobic test mean power/ body weight (WAnT MP/BW) (r= -0,607, p= 0,024), squat 1RM (r= -0,600, p= 0.026) and squat 1 repetition maximum/body weight (squat 1RM/BW) (r= -0,609, p= 0.023). Conclusion: The results indicate that squat 1RM and squat 1RM/BW are equally good predictors of hockey performance as SLJ and WAnT MP/BW. / knäböj, hockey, is, nhl, skridskoåkning, skridskoskär, sprint, horisontalhopp, wingate, styrka, kraftutveckling, fystest

Samband mellan benstyrka och skridskoprestation hos svenska juniorishockeyspelare / Relationship between leg strength and skating performance in Swedish junior ice-hockey players

Persson, Joakim January 2017 (has links)
Skating is a key factor for a successful ice hockey player and strength in the lower extremity is therefore a crucial factor for determination of a players speed on the ice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between power, tested off-ice, and skating speed on ice. Seven male ice hockey players aged 19.5 ± 0.5 years were recruited from a local highschool. They completed a test battery consisting of the Swedish Ice hockey associations strength tests and power measurements in squat. In order to determine which strength variable is the most relevant to skating speed the strength variables were correlated to the results in a skating test called Acceleration and Speed. The results showed significant correlations between 1RM in clean and time on total distance (ρ=0.77, p&lt;0.05) and velocity (ρ=0.77, p=&lt;0.05) in the skating test. A significant correlation was also found between relative strength in clean and velocity (ρ=0.71, p&lt;0.05). The conclusion of this study was that parts of the testing battery is relevant for use when collecting information on a players maximum skating speed.
