Mobilidade e acessibilidade de idosos usuários dos serviços  gerontológicos de saúde em Manaus (AM) / The mobility and accessibility of elderly users of gerontological health services in Manaus (AM)

Diniz, Cleisiane Xavier 04 September 2017 (has links)
In the north of Brazil, and specifically in Manaus-AM city, there are no studies on mobility and accessibility of the elderly. This study aims to analyze the mobility and accessibility of elderly users of gerontological health services in the city of Manaus with a perspective of the use of urban space and its repercussions in their daily life, identifying factors related to the determination and the inequalities of use of such services, with an understanding of a 21st century contemporary city, proposing adjustments and adaptabilities of its structures. A prospective and analytical qualitative and quantitative analysis technique, of a transversal and observational descriptive nature, with 1,080 elderly subjects was used. For the collection of quantitative data, a socioeconomic questionnaire was used, and for the qualitative data, an accompanied walking tour was used, as well as the analysis of documents and the records of the spaces constructed in the Comprehensive Attention Centers for the Best Age (CAIMI). This study has identified the innumerable spatial inequalities in the process of mobility and accessibility of the elderly to gerontological health services, and has indicated that there are difficulties in the accessibility and use of public equipment by the elderly in the internal environment of the CAIMIs, as well as in the external displacement up to their residence, given the appearance of limitations, which make them more vulnerable. It is hoped that this research will serve as a subsidy for the implantation of new CAIMIs in other areas of the city, with adequate intervention and access strategies for the local reality; which make reorganizing existing services according to the particularities of each geographical area possible, promoting the mobility and accessibility of the elderly; and that the results found can reverberate and encourage future public policies, new research in the area, and strengthening and fulfillment of rights already established.

Need for speed : towards urban planning for rapid transitioning to sustainable personal mobility

Nikulina, Varvara January 2019 (has links)
The Paris Agreement, the recent Special Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and the Sustainable Development Goals are examples of United Nation’s facilitated calls for urgent climate action and more generally for a rapid transition of society towards sustainability. Since urban personal mobility is a significant contributor to society’s current sustainability challenges, and considering current trends of population growth and urbanisation, there is a strong need to develop enhanced support for urban planning for rapid transitioning to sustainable personal mobility. This thesis is part of a wider effort to develop methodological support for such planning and action. The aim of the thesis is to provide a partial foundation for that wider effort by: (i) identifying and organising prominent research themes related to the above topic; and since previous research points to benefits of a transdisciplinary, multisectoral and multicultural approach, (ii) exploring and addressing the complexity of co-production processes in such contexts; and (iii) analysing the appropriateness of some prominent planning approaches for the desired planning support. The aim is pursued through a systematic literature review, including bibliometric analyses, and two empirical case studies, including workshops, interviews, field studies and feasibility studies. One of the case studies included participants from several countries in the Southern Baltic region and the other case study tested the usefulness of different planning approaches in the local context of Kisumu, Kenya and Gothenburg, Sweden, respectively. The thesis provides a map of some prominent research themes and discusses their relevance to the field of urban planning for rapid transitioning to sustainable personal mobility. The analysis of the identified themes and their development over the past ten years shows that there has been a shift in mobility planning from ’predict and provide’ towards participatory visionary approaches. This, in turn, has led to new challenges, related to, for example, epistemic communities, language and culture. Furthermore, it is seen that sustainability considerations have become increasingly pronounced in the urban mobility planning literature. However, different dimensions of sustainability are often considered individually (e.g. the ecological and social dimensions) and coordinated approaches to sustainable mobility planning are virtually lacking. At the methodological level, the thesis provides a preliminary conceptual framework for analysing complexity in co-production processes with regard to epistemic communities, language and culture, as well as a discussion of the usefulness of four specific planning approaches for the desired planning support, namely the backcasting, transdisciplinary co-production of knowledge, foresighting and SymbioCity approaches. The overall conclusion is that there is a need for research that would show how mobility actors can contribute to resolve pressing issues related to climate change fast enough without compromising other aspects of sustainability, including how temporary trade-offs can be addressed in a strategic way.

Velocity and Steering Control for Automated Personal Mobility Vehicle / Hastighets- och styrningskontroll för automatiserat personligt mobilitetsfordon

Wang, Kui January 2021 (has links)
In this thesis, a Model Predictive Control (MPC) based re-planning and control system is proposed. The MPC re-planner will generate a collision-free path for the controlled vehicle when obstacles are detected, and the controller will make the vehicle move along the reference or re-planned path by adjusting its velocity and steering angle. The MPC re-planner and controller are built based on different vehicle dynamic models, i.e., the bicycle model and point-mass model, respectively. Simulation results show that the trajectory tracking performance when the velocity and steering are controlled simultaneously are better than using steering MPC alone. Then the effects on computational time of two critical parameters, prediction horizon and control horizon, are studied to find reasonable horizons that can enable real-time control. The robustness of the obstacle avoidance function is tested using obstacles with increasing sizes and the results show that the controlled vehicle is able to avoid a 6 m obstacle so that it can overtake other car-like vehicles in the driving process. Finally, a closed-loop one-lane road with some moving vehicles is built as a test scenario for the MPC-based re-planning and control system. According to the results, the controlled vehicle can successfully follow the centerline of the road and overtake other vehicles.

Design dopravního prostředku v systému udržitelné městské mobility / Design of the Vehicle for the System of Sustainable Urban Mobility

Škaroupka, David January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation is a response to the negative trends in urban mobility, which led many authors to conclude on the need for a new approach to personal transport in the cities. The work has creative character, but in the conceptual level, it is taking into account the specific needs of sustainable urban mobility and build on the existing innovative transport solutions. The result of dissertation is a vehicle vision, understood as an element of urban mobility that respects the character of the zones of free movement of persons, but it is also suitable for transport over longer distances.

Exploring the determinants of purchasing behavior in the context of safety apparel : A study of safety marketing

Pociello i Palau, Alexandre-Nikos January 2023 (has links)
The rapid growth and development of cities have brought new mobility challenges, which the emergence of micro-mobility solutions, such as Personal Mobility Vehicles, has addressed. However, the increase in the use of these vehicles has also led to a rise in the number of accidents and injuries due to the inadequate use of protective equipment. Consequently, the sales of safety apparel have increased (Smith, 2022), creating a more competitive market where marketing strategies have become essential to successfully sell the product. This study aims to investigate the purchase behavior of safety apparel products, using the Theory of Planned Behavior as a framework to analyze the factors that affect the intentions of consumers to buy safety apparel. The research considered both product and societal factors that motivate or discourage the purchase of safety apparel. The results of the study revealed that the characteristics of the safety apparel product were the most significant factor that motivated the purchase. Consumers preferred discreet aesthetics and dark colors; low prices were also important factors. In addition, fashion, the influence of specialists in stores and on social networks, and the role of authorities were also found to be significant factors. However, the ability of buyers to carry out this behavior was subject to product compatibility, affordability, and availability. The findings of this research will help manufacturers and retailers to develop better marketing strategies that will increase the effectiveness of campaigns and enhance the motivation, importance, and priority to buy safety apparel. The study's contributions also have implications for other organizations that market safety-related products or want to promote their use. Overall, this study sheds light on the understanding of safety apparel customers and aims to contribute to improving marketing strategies in the safety apparel industry and promoting the safety culture among city commuters.
