As soluções aqui apresentadas fornecem uma alternativa acessível à completa modelagem numérica - utilizada em pacotes comerciais para interpretação de teste de pressão / Abstract: A study on the transient pressure behavior it is presented in this dissertation for slanted well test analysis. From references available in the literature, analytical and semi-analytical solutions are presented for the uniform flow boundary condition at the well. In this study is considered an infinite radial extent reservoir limited with vertical impermeable boundaries. Type curves are presented for different slant angles of the well and dimensionless formation thickness. From the analysis of type curves are observed three flow regimes: early time radial flow, transition radial flow and late time infinite-acting radial flow. For the best knowledge of the author, the transition radial flow regime is introduced in this dissertation for the first time. From the semi-analytical solution, derived in the Laplace domain, asymptotic solutions are developed for early-time and late-time. It is also presented an alternative procedure for interpreting pressure transient data in slanted wells. The development of this procedure was based on the TDS (Tiab's Direct Synthesis) technique, by where it is possible to interpret the pressure data through a direct analysis of the derived curve. The solutions presented here provide a feasible alternative to full numerical modeling - used in commercial packages for the interpretation of pressure tests / Mestrado / Reservatórios e Gestão / Mestre em Ciências e Engenharia de Petróleo

Adapting retail business models for the petroleum industryTait, Hennie Leon January 2009 (has links)
Deregulation as an open market system is likely to be implemented in the Petroleum industry of South Africa. To secure the success of the retail petroleum industry by means of business and job opportunities one has to investigate the current evolution of the industry and what factors will have a measurable impact on the retail petroleum industry.

Market Timing, Forecast Ability and Information Flow in Petroleum Futures MarketsBuchanan, William K. 12 1900 (has links)
Three petroleum futures contracts are examined over a ten-year period from 1986 to 1996. Intertemporal changes in futures prices and the net open interest positions of three trader types are compared to determine what, if any, market timing ability the traders have. Seasonal variation is considered and a simple trading rule is adopted to determine the dollar-return potential for market participation and
shed light on issues of market efficiency.

The Iraq-Mediterranean Pipelines and Power in the Middle East, 1925-1973Pesaran, Natasha Guiti January 2022 (has links)
This dissertation explores the relationship between foreign oil capital, transnational infrastructures, and power in the Middle East through an examination of the history of the trans-border pipeline system that exported Iraq’s oil to Europe via the Mediterranean. Built in 1935 by the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC), an international oil consortium jointly owned by a group of Western oil companies, the Iraq-Mediterranean pipelines ran from northern Iraq to two points on the Mediterranean coast, crossing the borders of five states.
The Iraq-Mediterranean pipelines were the product of large capital investment and were constructed during a period of European imperial rule. They could not be easily moved or diverted once built. This dissertation asks, in what ways did trans-border flows of oil shape and were shaped by processes of decolonization and the emergence of independent nation states? Existing studies of Middle East oil development rarely consider the fact that oil infrastructures extended beyond the territorial boundaries of the nation-state, focusing instead on the effects of oil revenues on the political economy of oil-producing states.
Rather than reading oil as a stand-in for something else, such as revenues, geopolitics, or modernity, this dissertation examines the material structures and technical organization of the oil industry itself. Drawing on extensive research in oil company archives, government archives and published materials in English, Arabic, and French, this dissertation argues that the Iraq-Mediterranean pipelines shaped temporally and spatially uneven and overlapping forms of corporate and state power during successive phases of planning, construction, and operation from the late 1920s to the early 1970s.

Biodegradation of Certain Petroleum Product Contaminants in Soil and Water By Selected BacteriaNevárez-Moorillón, Guadalupe Virginia 12 1900 (has links)
Soil contamination by gasoline underground storage tanks is a critical environmental problem. The results herein show that in situ bioremediation using indigenous soil microorganisms is the method of choice. Five sites were selected for bioremediation based on the levels of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene and the amount of total petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil. Bacteria capable of degrading these contaminants were selected from the contaminated sites and grown in 1,200 I mass cultures. These were added to the soil together with nutrients, water and air via PVC pipes.

Petroleum products supply dynamics and challenges in the Botswana marketMfosi, Sandy Dos Mareko 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MBA)--Stellenbosch University, 2011. / Petroleum fuels energy supply and its availability is an essential precondition for socio-economic
development in any economy. Energy is required in meeting the basic human needs such as food,
shelter, health, education and for economic activities such as transport, agriculture and mining.
Botswana’s energy consumption is dominated by petroleum fuels. The country has no known
petroleum reserves and it has to import all its petroleum requirements in refined form, from the
neighbouring South Africa.
The study focuses on the challenges of security of supply of petroleum products in Botswana.
What is at stake is to identify alternative supply sources and routes of petroleum products to
Botswana, thus reducing the risk of wholly dependence on South Africa for the supply. A major
goal is to develop alternative sources and routes from neighbouring countries. This can be
achieved by the Botswana Government taking advantage of regional cooperation with neighbouring
countries.
The study explores other approaches to reduce the high dependence on South Africa. One of the
possible solutions is for Botswana Government to establish a state owned oil company which could
play a catalytic role in the implementation of many of the steps considered in this study. This
company could, for example, be charged with crude oil exploration in Botswana and with steps to
assist locally owned Botswana companies to establish themselves in the marketing and distribution
of petroleum. Much will, however, depend on the resources that can be mobilised by the Botswana
Government for such a State Oil Company.
The study is based on secondary data obtained mainly from the Division of Energy in the Ministry of
Minerals, Energy and Water Resources. Feasibility studies conducted by consultants engaged by
the Ministry played an important role in the literature underlying this report.
