Dynamika kavitujícího proudění za clonou / Dynamics of cavitating flow behind the orifice

Kubina, Dávid January 2018 (has links)
Cavitating flow through five perforated plates with different number of holes with preserved constant flow cross-section area in sum were experimentally examined. Dynamic characteristics such as dependence of pressure amplitudes and dominant frequencies on cavitation number in all regimes of cavitating flow: incipient cavitation, partial cavitation, fully developed cavitation and supercavitation are obtained. For determination of dominant frequencies several pressure transducers in two regimes of measurement were used. Results were validated with frequency spectra obtained from picture analysis based on high-speed camera records.

Analýza strukturálních změn nanovlákenných scaffoldů vzhledem k jejich relativnímu prodloužení / Analysis of structural changes of nanofiber scaffolds in relation with their relative extension

Morávek, Martin January 2016 (has links)
The goal of this thesis was to find a suitable method for evaluating structural changes of scaffolds as influenced by external mechanical pressure and to verify the validity of hypothesis which assumes a change of directionality of fibers and also thinning of fibers according to the stretching of a scaffold. Assumptions formulated in these three hypothesis were tested on a scaffold with a plasma surface treatment and without any plasma surface treatment. To examine structural changes an electrone microscope was used to observe the surface of scaffolds. Incurred photos were then processed with the help of automatic software picture analysis and observed data were statisticly evaluated. The result of this experiment is a description of used method which can be used in future for larger studies. It was found that by the effect of external mechanical pressure fibers of examinated scaffolds turn in the direction of the pull. It has also been found that the average thickness of fibers didn't change. Results of this work give insight into the evaluation of structural changes of scaffolds when pressured by an external mechanical power and open possibilities for deeper and more exact research in this field. Key words: scaffold, picture analysis, fiber directionality, fiber thickness.

Mediální obraz ukrajinských událostí ve fotografiích - etické aspekty zobrazení konfliktu / The depiction of events in Ukraine on photographs - ethical aspects of depicting conflict

Šírová, Natálie January 2016 (has links)
The Master Thesis The depiction of events in Ukraine on photographs - ethical aspects of depicting conflict presents a case study focused on depiction of Ukrainian crisis in photographs during a defined period of time of 2014 in five Czech and five foreign newspapers. The first part of the thesis introduces the theoretical concepts that are the basis for the analysis. The analytical part presents the research of depiction of the Ukrainian events in news photographs in the daily newspapers using the technique of content picture analysis. The results let us compare the differences between the approach of the individual Czech and foreign newspapers to the issue of publishing graphic images of violence and its victims. Based on these findings, the thesis tries to define the contemporary trends regarding the ethical issues of photojournalism. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Bilderna i klassrummet : ur ett genusperspektiv / The Pictures in the Classroom : from a Gender Perspective

Lisell, Ida January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to examine what kind of pictures the children encounter everyday in their classroom. Furthermore, the idea was to immerse myself in how girls and boys are portrayed in these pictures from a gender perspective. Three question were set, to enable this study:  What kind of pictures will second grade pupils encounter in their classroom, in a city school and in a rural school? How many girls and boys are illustrated in these pictures? How are girls and boys portrayed in these pictures? The examination was done by a field study of two classrooms, where all the pictures on the walls were documented using a digital camera. The collected material were examined, using both a quantitative analysis and a qualitative ditto. The first analysis is presented in tables, where it shows that there were a bigger different in how the gender were shown in the city school then in the rural school. The second analysis performed on the basis of three categories; glance, activity and attributes. The purpose of this method is to highlight any gender differences in how boys and girls are depicted. This essay concludes that the boys were in general portrayed more varied than the girls, even if the pictures in the city school showed more traditional stereotypical traits than the other. An interesting issue and a proposal for further research, is an examination of the thoughts and ideas the teachers have about choosing, and using pictures in the classroom.

Den fulaste tavlan : En undersökning av kontroversiell konst i vårdmiljö / The Ugliest Painting : A study on controversial art in a health care environment

Vedin, Sofi January 2017 (has links)
Decorative art is not a natural part of an health care environment to many people. Still it exists – in Sweden the county councils have some of the largest art collections in the country, and they are often the ones responsible for the art in hospitals, health centers and dentist offices in each county. This study is about the art in health care environments that is controversial – and why. With the help of interviews and a semiotic picture analysis, I will try to sort out what kind of paintings and pictures make people uncomfortable when viewed in a health care context.

Medias avbildning av den ideala människokroppen - Den heliga graalen eller djävulens verktyg? : En kritisk diskurs- och bildanalys av svenska livsstilsmagasins gestaltning av den ideala människokroppen / The media depiction of the ideal human body – The Holy Grail or the devil's tool? : A critical discourse and picture analysis of Swedish lifestyle magazines formation of the ideal human body

Kullberg, Sandra January 2016 (has links)
Summary: The purpose of this study is to examine how media construct and normalize the human body and how these create constructions of identity that are built on considered ways of what an ideal body is. The media conceptions are deconstructed through discourse and picture analysis to distinguish potential contradictions and/or hidden messages which can have an impact on people's lives. The results indicate that the media discourse depict an unrealistic and unreasonable norm of the human body which is a general thorough ideal in media depiction of body shape and outward characteristics. Publications, elements and advertising are continuously permeated by the same ideal which inevitably influence people and thus pose a risk for their opulence. Background: Media constitutes a deciding source of information for people and is thus a central factor in the shaping of our conception of the world, which is the foundation for our thoughts and actions, and norm constructions. The media depiction of the ideal body thus pose a norm which highly influence peoples assumption of what normal female and male features should be like. Failure to meet these standards, and deviation from the norm, can induce negative consequences for people and their lives. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyse and describe how popular Swedish magazines, targeting fashion, health and beauty, construct and normalize the human body in text and picture. How media create constructions of identity which authorize certain appearances and discard others, and deconstruct these to distinguish contradictions and/or hidden messages. Method: Discourse and picture analysis Result: The media depiction of the body ideal appears to be unrealistic perfection and the majority of people thus fail in comparison which can result in negative consequences for them and their lives. Furthermore, divergence and hidden messages can be interpreted from the depictions which increase the risk of a harmful outcome.

The Application of Linguistic Principles to the Analysis of Film Surface-Structure

Hale, C. Benjamin 05 1900 (has links)
The problem of this study was to address the question of the relationships between linguistic principles and film surface-structure. The analysis of motion pictures traditionally has been an analysis of films as art. At the same time, the techniques and effects of film often have been referred to as the "language of film." Until recently, however, no one took seriously the linguistic implications of the phrase. The theoretical evidence for linguistics of film is controversial but growing in acceptance and maturity of the concept. The study began with the assumption that film is a language. The method bypassed much of the philosophical discussion of whether film is a language in favor of finding the theory's practical usefulness. The findings produced some clues to the linguistic structure of particular films which may relate to film as a whole. The analysis clearly demonstrated the presence of visual rules of grammar. The findings not only supported a linguistic view of film but also generated structures that resembled accepted linguistic form. The basic units of analysis were found to have unit integrity, class form qualities, limitations on their employment, and a hierarchical relationship to other larger units. The analysis also pointed out some visually ungrammatical structures.

Deník Prostor jako fenomén české fotožurnalistiky / Prostor daily as a phenomenon of Czech photojournalism

Kubicová, Markéta January 2017 (has links)
The thesis Prostor daily as a phenomenon of Czech photojournalism focuses on the analysis of the journalistic photographs in two dailies established after 1989 - Prostor daily and Metropolitan/Metropolitní telegraf daily. The analytical part of the thesis consists of the quantitative content analysis and the qualitative analysis of the pictures; the thesis also contains interviews with seven former members of the photographic department of Prostor daily - Radovan Boček, Karel Cudlín, Jaromír Čejka, Jan Jindra, Zdeněk Lhoták, Roman Sejkot and Tomáš Štanzel. The aim of the thesis is to define the differences between Prostor daily and the other dailies at that time, why it was 'visually extraordinary' and why it became a phenomenon of Czech photojournalism.
