Otimização de portfólios de investimento : a estratégia de paridade de risco no cenário brasileiro

Souza, Pierre Oberson de January 2015 (has links)
This paper seeks to initiate studies for the investment portfolios optimization model called risk parity in the Brazilian scene. In this work, the sector indexes of the Brazilian Stock Exchange (Bovespa) were used as assets and their data were used to estimate portfolios with models of minimum variance, of equal weight and of risk parity. It was found that in the risk parity model the form to obtain the covariance matrix has little influence on the final result, that is of a portfolio with weights and distribution of intermediate volatility in relation to the minimum variance models and equal weights. These results are consistent with those found in the literature using as database the European and American markets.

Exploring Teachers' Writing Assessment Literacy in Multilingual First-Year Composition: A Qualitative Study on e-Portfolios

January 2018 (has links)
abstract: This project investigated second language writing teachers’ writing assessment literacy by looking at teachers’ practices of electronic writing portfolios (e-WPs), as well as the sources that shape L2 writing teachers’ knowledge of e-WPs in the context of multilingual First-Year Composition (FYC) classrooms. By drawing on Borg’s (2003) theory of teacher cognition and Crusan, Plakans, and Gebril’s (2016) definition of assessment literacy, I define L2 teachers’ writing assessment literacy as teachers’ knowledge, beliefs and practices of a particular assessment tool, affected by institutional factors. While teachers are the main practitioners who help students create e-WPs (Hilzensauer & Buchberger, 2009), studies on how teachers actually incorporate e-WPs in classes and what sources may influence teachers’ knowledge of e-WPs, are scant. To fill in this gap, I analyzed data from sixteen teachers’ semi-structured interviews. Course syllabi were also collected to triangulate the interview data. The interview results indicated that 37.5 % of the teachers use departmental e-WPs with the goal of guiding students throughout their writing process. 43.7 % of the teachers do not actively use e-WPs and have students upload their writing projects only to meet the writing program’s requirement at the end of the semester. The remaining 18.7 % use an alternative platform other than the departmental e-WP platform, throughout the semester. Sources influencing teachers’ e-WP knowledge included teachers’ educational and work experience, technical difficulties in the e-WP platform, writing program policies and student reactions. The analysis of the course syllabi confirmed the interview results. Based on the findings, I argue that situated in the context of classroom assessment, institutional factors plus teachers’ insufficient knowledge of e-WPs limit the way teachers communicate with students, whose reactions cause teachers to resist e-WPs. Conversely, teachers’ sufficient knowledge of e-WPs enables them to balance the pressure from the institutional factors, generating positive reactions from the students. Students’ positive reactions encourage teachers to accept the departmental e-WPs or use similar alternative e-WP platforms. Pedagogical implications, limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are reported to conclude the dissertation. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Linguistics and Applied Linguistics 2018

Essays on international portfolio choices and capital flows

Zhang, Ning January 2016 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to study the international portfolio choices of countries in an asymmetric world. In practice, this corresponds to the salient facts of country portfolios and the underlying structural asymmetries between developing and developed countries in a financially integrated world. In the three main chapters of the thesis, frameworks are developed to advance our understanding of the way various country asymmetries contribute to the emergence of these persistent phenomena in international capital markets. The first essay studies the question of why developing countries experience net equity inflows and bond outflows while developed countries experience net equity outflows and bond inflows, the so-called ‘two-way capital flows'. The analysis is based on an open-economy New Keynesian model of endogenous country portfolios with representative agents in each country. The model is so general that it allows one to perform an assessment of the roles of a long list of country asymmetries in determining the pattern of two-way capital flows. While steady-state net country portfolios are zero in the first essay, the second and third essays consider the situations where this is not true. The second essay presents an OLG model of an endowment economy with a country asymmetry in households' patience. Global imbalances in net positions emerge. Gross portfolio positions are obtained as the sum of standard self-hedging and, moreover, the hedging due to external imbalances. The valuation effects of external adjustments between creditor and debtor countries are rationalized. By introducing non-tradable risks, the third essay models a production OLG economy with a country asymmetry in wealth division. Global imbalances in net positions again arise. Gross portfolio positions are composed of self-hedging, hedging of non-tradable income and hedging of external interest payments, which accounts for the reality of asymmetric asset home bias, i.e. although assets are locally biased everywhere, the pattern is more pronounced in creditor countries.

This research presents the emergent meanings of the collective written portfolios during a process of continuous formation. These writes were made by four Chemistry Teachers of basic school and nineteen university students in graduation of chemistry license in the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG), all those people are participant in a continuous formation process, make it possible by the Institutional Program of Initiation to Teacher Profession (PIBID), a politic public program developed in FURG. Is a qualitative approach research in a view of a research/formation group. The researcher participated as a basic school teacher. In the portfolio, each teacher made a dialog with a group of teachers in formation/graduation thru the write. The analysis of records in the portfolios an in the field diary of the teacher researcher was made by the Discursive Textual Analyses. The analyses made possible the production of meanings since the organization of meanings unities and the emerge of this categories: relationship between different characters that make part of the school; talking about class planning; contents/material to ponder in the continuous formation process and no care whit the school and the teacher profession. The meanings gives to each categories quoted, by teachers in formation, turn possible realized that we are in formation in the collective and cooperating whit the defended argue, related to use of collective portfolios like a tool of learn how to be a teacher in Wheels of Network Education, thus, the teacher formation is made in collective way, in spaces that make possible the interaction between this teachers in initial and continuous formation or between barely graduated teachers and experient teachers of the school; the portfolio is a document of the learn in the refer process.

Prática pedagógica reflexiva de licenciandos de enfermagem: o portfólio como instrumento / Reflexive pedagogical practice of undergraduates in Nursing: the portfolio as instrument

Debora Rodrigues Vaz 26 April 2013 (has links)
Introduction: The supervised training program of the degree courses are opportunities that allow to the teachers in formation think about their practice, helping them in the construction of a pedagogical knowledge that will base them along their professional life. In this context, it is waited that the undergraduates develop reflections to transpose the descriptive level, so that they are taken to a critical view on their acting, with the objective of transforming their pedagogical practice. The narratives built through the elaboration of reflexive portfolios present as potentiated strategies for the development of reflexive practices. Objective: This study had as objective analyzes, as for the reflection levels, the narratives related to the pedagogical practice experienced during the supervised training program reported in the portfolios of the Nursing undergraduates. Method: It is an exploratory-descriptive documental study where were analyzed the portfolios of the undergraduates of Nursing degree in a public university in São Paulo. The portfolio was developed in the supervised training program that is integrated into the discipline Nursing Teaching Methodology II (ENO 436), in 2011. The discipline, that focuses the theoretical-methodological and practical bases for the formation of the teacher proposed a Route of Learning constituted by eight activities for the elaboration of the portfolio, of which two were analyzed: Reflexive description of the theoretical class taught and \"Reflexive description of the supervision in the practical field. Results: The analyzed group was composed by 43 students, and only 28 completed the two activities described in their portfolios. In the first activity, of the 28 portfolios analyzed, all presented narratives in technical level of reflection, 22 in critical level and 15 in level metacritical and in the second activity, all of the portfolios presented narratives in technical level, 21 in critical level and 16 in level metacritical. The facts narrated by all of the undergraduates happened in several schools and institutions of health, under the supervision of different supervising teachers, where each undergraduate emphasized in their narratives what was more significant. Conclusions: The portfolio provided the development of the three reflection levels proposed by Sá-Chaves (2000), technician, critic and metacritical, however not all of the undergraduates reached the critical and metacritical level. The students had opportunity to experience the pedagogical practice and many ones presented reflections in the metacritical level, thinking about their acting, about the construction of their teaching identity and on the importance of contemplating on the practice with the objective of transforming it as well as themselves. The portfolio represented a significant space for the reflection of the undergraduates on the practice experienced in the training field as well as a relevant tool for the teachers, in so far these ones, from those results, can reiterate and restructure the proposal of the use of the portfolio in the Nursing degree.

Method for management of inevstment portfolios in office buildings for rent in Brazil.

Paola Torneri Porto 18 November 2010 (has links)
It has been observed, given the increasing competition in various economic sectors, that corporations have been selling their real estate assets and started paying rent for their spaces. Combined with companies need to direct resources to their main activity, the steep technologic evolution inhibits significant investments in physical spaces, especially those with low flexibility and high obsolescence. Therefore, selling real estate assets, on one hand, allows that organizations direct capital to their main activity. On the other hand, it is an incentive for investors interested in real estate to allocate capital in these assets. In this scenario, investors such as real state investment funds and institutional investors, started to acquire office buildings expecting to obtain a harmonic flow of income from rent, and also to get an attractive remuneration with respect to the investment in the property. Given this context, criteria to manage investment portfolios can be used by decision makers to provide adequate conditions of risk and profitability. Henceforth, this thesis develops a method to guide the management of investment portfolios in office buildings for rent in Brazil. It starts by identifying risk factors involved in this sort of investment, the adoption of diversification criteria, and of quality indicators for constant performance monitoring. This study provides tools necessary to support strategic decisions in portfolio management, reducing uncertainty in decision making.
