Výstava - VVČSKSU / Exhibition - VVČSKSUHověžáková, Ilona Unknown Date (has links)
The objective of this thesis draws on my experience acquired during the internship in Galeria De Arte Servando in Havana, where I have been given the opportunity to learn about Cuban culture as well as to witness the restrictions and difficulties in gallery activities due to the communist government. The first part of the thesis focuses on historical facts highlighting the art exchange between Czechoslovakia and Cuba, a common part of running the state institution in the past. It was a common practice both in Havana´s House of Czechoslovak Culture and in the House of Cuban Culture in Prague. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, both houses were closed and the Czechoslovak-Cuban relations in art and culture have never been restored. The study subsequently discusses the concept and realization of the exhibition prepared in collaboration with Cuban curator Yenisel Osuna Morales. The aim of the thesis is to try to initiate a dialogue between two countries, Cuba and the Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia), countries with many differences, and probably even estranged nowadays. However, their relations were warm before, and they could be in many ways an inspiration. The primary outcome of this thesis is the exhibition project aimed at the topic of censorship in independent art, its influence on gallery activities and freedom of artistic expression in Cuba. The selection of cuban artists carried out by curator Yenisel Osuna Morales represents the topic of pluriculturalism, migration and diaspora. By means of exhibition exchange, I would like to refer to the terminated friendship between Cuba and former Czechoslovakia in the field of art. The purpose of these exhibitions is not only to present Czech contemporary art in Cuba but also to present Cuban art in the Czech Republic without any restrictions.

Josef Mocker: výběrová edice architektovy osobní korespondence. / Josef Mocker: Architect's Selected Personal Correspondence.Ponzerová, Petra January 2022 (has links)
A comprehensive monograph covering the life and life's work of architect Josef Mocker (22 November 1835 - 16 January 1899) has not yet been published, however, there are a number of partial works by individual historians, especially art historians, which explore Mocker's work in depth. In addition to numerous designs, building projects, and applied liturgical art, Mocker's life's work was primarily the completion of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert at Prague Castle in 1872-1899. And while there is a fairly widespread awareness of Mocker's extensive work, sadly, only little is known about his personal life. This thesis thus aims to make available a part of the surviving correspondence from the period 1871-1882 in the form of an edition of sources, allowing a glimpse into the life and thoughts of the architect Josef Mocker in his own words. Given the private nature of the letters, the paper departs from a purely artistic appreciation of the architect's work and views Josef Mocker more as a historical figure. The emphasis is placed on understanding the environment that surrounded him in a cultural and historical context in the period before starting a family. The thesis thus focuses more on understanding the environment from which Josef Mocker emerged and which...

The main focus of this diploma thesis is Jiří Kotalík, his relationship with the United States of America and projects in which he participated as the director of the National Gallery in Prague. To understand projects, it was necessary to clarify the broader circumstances, especially the relationship of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic to the United States of America and the cultural policy of both states. Therefore, the time frame was extended, both in the historical introduction and the first exhibition of American art in Czechoslovakia in 1947. It was also necessary to put into context the purpose for which large traveling exhibitions and other US cultural projects were organized and what reception they caused in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. The six largest exhibitions of American art, which took place in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in the years 1967-1990, were selected as a sample. In the end, other forms of cooperation of the National Gallery, respectively Jiří Kotalík with American institutions were indicated but also other forms of promotion of Czechoslovak art in the United States of America were indicated.
