Valet av ägarlägenhet : En studie som omfattar vilka preferenser som ligger till grund för köpet

Testoni, Kajsa January 2015 (has links)
Condominiums are the latest legislated form for the right to own and use apartments in the Swedish property market. A condominium is a three-dimensional property, which is limited both horizontally and vertically. The condominiums entails an individual ownership of an apartment in an apartment building, which can be compared to any other ownership of a private house. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the preferences that form the basis for the purchase of condominiums in Sweden. In this thesis the tenant ownership will also be studied and analyzed. This to clarify the differences between the different forms of ownership. This study is primarily based on a quantitative survey. The condominium registry has been used as the basis for this survey. It has been formed 944 condominiums in 40 different municipalities in Sweden since the law came into force in May 2009. Based on the registry, legally owners has been identified. 111 questionnaires have been posted to condominium owners, with questions regarding which preferences triggers the purchase of a condominium. Totally 93 answers of the questionnaire were received, which representing a response frequency of 84 %. The thesis shows that the major reason of preference for the condominiums are primarily based on the ownership that occurs, which also is the main difference between condominiums and tenant ownership. Many condominiums have been built in excellent geographical locations, which is a major factor for the purchase. Owners of condominiums are mostly older than 35 years. The majority are married and have no children at home. Most of the owners have lived in a small private house earlier in life, which made the purchase of the condominiums easy because they wanted a similar housing.

A Comparison of Dominant Intellectual Strengths and Learning Styles in College Freshmen

Mioduszewski, Jessica 01 January 2015 (has links)
Remediation has become a compensatory way for an increasing number of students to attend college. The problem addressed in this study was whether student intellectual strengths and learning style preferences were, in part, related to placement or enrollment in remediation courses. The purpose of this quantitative study was to assess whether a particular learning style or dominant intellectual strength was characteristic of freshmen enrolled in remediation courses compared to freshmen not enrolled in remediation courses. This study filled a gap in the literature as no studies have analyzed the combination of learning style preferences with dominant intellectual strengths in an American college population. Its theoretical foundations were Gardner's multiple intelligence theory and Kolb's experiential learning theory. A total of 84 participants completed a demographics survey, the Multiple Intelligence Profiling Questionnaire III, and the Learning Styles Inventory. Results from the Spearman Rho correlation indicated a significant negative correlation between logistic/mathematical intellectual strengths and enrollment in remediation. For learning style preferences, students enrolled in remediation courses were significantly more likely to identify as Assimilating learners. Students in remediation were also significantly more likely to identify as Accommodating learners in comparison to students not enrolled in remediation courses. These results suggest that the college curriculum and how it is taught could be altered to accommodate both students' strengths and strengthen weaknesses in order to facilitate higher levels of academic success, ultimately leading to higher graduation rates and better employment opportunities; these improvements might, in turn, facilitate positive changes for communities in South Florida.

Investigation of the awareness and perceptions of stuttering and the resulting effect on social preference in children who do and do not stutter

Hunt, Stephanie Lynn 08 July 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness, perception and social preference of stuttering in children who do and do not stutter. Ten children who stutter and eleven children who do not stutter participated in this study. Each participant viewed a short DVD clip of two puppets taking turns talking. One puppet produced stuttering-like disfluencies, and the other produced typically fluent speech. The participants were then asked a series of questions formulated to examine awareness, perception, and social preference. Results indicated no significant differences between the children who stutter versus the children who do not stutter on any of the three factors examined. However, within the group of children who stutter, significant differences were discovered for two of the seven questions (“which puppet talks like you?” and “what do you call this type of talking?”) when time since onset of stuttering was considered, suggesting that the longer the child has been stuttering, the greater the awareness the child has of his/her disfluent speech both in terms of the behavior and the specific terminology used to describe the behavior. / text

Mental Health Treatment Preferences for Persons of Mexican Heritage

Sorrell, Tanya Renee January 2013 (has links)
Culturally sensitive care is thought to take into account a person's specific cultural values and preferences when providing mental health care services. Latinos currently comprise 17% of the total U.S. population at 50.5 million and persons of Mexican heritage constitute over 66% of all Latinos in the United States. Persons of Mexican heritage experience higher rates of mental health issues and illness with 30% lifetime incidence versus 20% incidence for Anglos. Few studies have focused on the mental health treatment preferences for persons of Mexican heritage. Treatment preferences could reflect personal characteristics, acculturation perspective about mental health issues and illness, and experience with treatment. Mass media may also influence treatment preferences and mental health information-seeking.The purpose of this study was to describe preferences for mental health treatment services for persons of Mexican heritage living in the Southwest along the United States-Mexico border. Twenty-one participants were interviewed individually and their responses analyzed using Atlas-ti qualitative analysis software. The participants reported twenty-five mental health treatment preferences. The top six preferences- medication, going to the doctor, social and family support, counseling and herbal medicines, were consistent throughout demographic categories of age, gender, income, generational status, insurance status, education, and acculturation. Self-management interventions and integrative medicine were also reported as treatment preferences. Participants reported media use of television, internet, books and magazines, in-person interaction, and radio as primary mental health information sources. Media influences on mental health included education/information, hope, normalization, and a catalyst for conversation. Ascribed meanings for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder included cognitive, behavioral, and interactional reports. Mental health services for persons of Mexican heritage should include varying holistic mental health treatment practices, recognizing the need for understanding of potential meanings for mental health issues and illness. Persons of Mexican heritage report the desire for the same types of allopathic care including medications and counseling as Anglos in the US. Additionally, self-management interventions and integrative medicine therapies, as well as innovative media outreach methods were reported as integral to the holistic treatment process of obtaining help for mental health issues and illness.
