As a result of this new relationship with the environment, of both consumers and society, the opportunity to use Marketing geared to sustainability applied to private label products of large supermarket chains in the country arises. Retail plays a key role in the day-to-day life of individuals, and may be an agent of attitude and behavioral change of consumers, since such consumers change may ensure the necessary resources for the future generations. The present study aims at analyzing the use of green marketing as a tool for building a competitive advantage for private label brands in the supermarket segment. By searching authors such as Reginaldo Dias, Nirmalya Kumar, Jan-Benedict Steenkamp, Michael Porter and Zymunt Bauman, in addition to field work involving interviews with professionals from two of the largest supermarket chains in the Brazilian market, an analysis was carried out as to how these organizations use green marketing in the management of their own brands. It was finally concluded that the social concern of the sustainable development of the planet leads to an environmental concern in all segments: economy, education and politics. Although social responsibility is discussed today, this research reveals that the actions are still very subtle, and green marketing actions regarding private label brands are still incipient / Atualmente se intensifica a discussão do impacto ambiental dos padrões de consumo, e cada vez mais se questionam o estilo de vida e os moldes de consumo da sociedade.

Attrition situations naturally occur and the use of power defines the conformation of the supply chain. Such attritions can, eventually, modify the product offered to the consumer, in the last loop of the chain. On the private label issue the behavioral dimension of the supply chain is even more accentuated because of differentiated retailer-manufacturer relationship. This paper analyzes the development and commercialization of private label products in the context of the supply chain. Using multiple case studies it was found that the private label factor does not contribute to minimizing the conflict, and in the contrary it might become a source of disagreements.

In order to achieve their goals, manufacturers and retailers are executing different initiatives to attract new customers such as in-store promotions. However, both in the US and here in Brazil, the results of these actions are questioned. Retailers are also investing in their Private Labels (PLs), which can alter the competitive dynamics within the categories. In the United States and Europe, studies were conducted to assess in-store promotions, impulses and responses in short-term and long-term sales for National Brands (NBs) and also Private Labels (PLs). The research question of this study was to evaluate if in Brazil, an emerging market, the attractiveness of Weighted Distribution, Price and Promotions of National Brands and Private Labels provide similar responses to the impulses. In order to evaluate if the impulses provide long-term residual effects for National Brands (NBs) and Private Labels (PLs), Vectors of Auto Regression (VAR) model was used in a continuous panel of self-service food stores in Greater São Paulo, which is the main metropolitan region of Brazil. The databases by categories (powdered coffee, biscuit, and ready-to-serve fruit juice) contained information of 25 months (November 2013 to November 2015) for each variable (Weighted Distribution, Price and Promotions), by NBs and PLs. The result of this study points out that there is a difference in responses to the impulses (distribution, price, and promotions) between NBs and PLs. National Brands (NBs) showed a greater number of situations with positive residual effects on long-term sales. However, the long-term response on sales occurred only for less than the half of the total potential situations. In other words, more than half of the total potential situations give an absence of statistical significance. The study indicates that there are retailers developing differentiated actions with Private Labels and obtaining, in their sales, positive long-term residual effects. Although modestly, this study contributes to the retail literature by using an econometric model (VAR) to analyze the impulse in some in-store attractiveness variables their long-term sales response to NBs and PLs in an emerging market. In short, the main contribution from the observations of the analyzed categories is that it is possible to Private Label compete without price sensibility and also positioning PL above the average price of the category/segment. The results also suggest that there is an opportunity to review the modus operandi of in-store promotion to get better results.

La satisfaction de la relation fournisseur de marque de distributeur (MDD) - distributeur : explication par le prisme de la proximité / Satisfaction of the private label supplier and retailer relationship : explanation by the concept of proximity

Bahha, Nawfal 15 November 2016 (has links)
Through the case of private label supplier in food sector, this thesis aims to show that the satisfaction of private label supplier can be explained by the proximity with his distributor. By adopting a positivist epistemological position and hypothetical-deductive approach, we conducted a literature review that allowed us to develop an integrative model made up of four dimensions: relational proximity, identity proximity, process proximity and geographical proximity. Then realized an empirical study alongside 93 suppliers of private label. A first data collection stage took place in MDDEXPO on April 2014 and has enabled to collect 51 questionnaires. The second phase of collection was done via VIADEO and which came up with 42 responses. Further, we submitted our model to test using PLS method under SMARTPLS3 software. The results of this research show that two dimensions of proximity have direct relationship with increasing private label supplier satisfaction. They are, in the order of importance of structural relations, level of cooperation (relational proximity) and adaptations (process proximity). They also indicate that three dimensions of proximity are used to increase the satisfaction of private label supplier. They are , in order of importance of structural relationships, identity proximity (shared values), social bonds (sub-scale relational proximity) and geographic proximity. Moreover, they show that two sub-dimensions of proximity do not significantly influence the confidence nor the satisfaction of private label supplier to its retailer. It is a question of information exchange (relational proximity) and idiosyncratic assets (process proximity).

Kupní chování spotřebitelů maloobchodního řetězce COOP / The purchase behavior of consumers of retail chain COOP

Lehká, Andrea January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with the purchase behavior and habits of consumers in the retail chain COOP, particularly cooperative COOP Hořovice. The work consists of two main parts -- theoretical and practical. The theoretical part solves the issue of purchase behavior of consumer and the factors that influence on consumer during all phases of their purcasing decisions, from a general perspective. Regarding the solving issue work also provides information about private labels, which are typical for retail. Furthermore it includes basic knowledge of marketing research and its phases. The practical part is beginning with important data about the cooperative COOP Hoovice (history, basic information, offered services and private labels). Recommendations for improvements are based on the course of research and its results interpretation.
