Standardization : Implementation of Process Standardization in a Decentralized organization

Gustavsson, Markus, Lindqvist, Emil, Jönsson, Johan January 2012 (has links)
Title: Standardization - Implementation of Process Standardization in aDecentralized OrganisationBackground and problem: Developing mutual operations increase efficiency and facilitate management control, which is important for unit comparison in decentralized organisations. Many organisations worldwide choose to standardize their processes because of these advantages. But standardization is not without problems since it brings negative effects that need to be considered.Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the units within the company in order to identify differences and important factors when considering standardization. The study also intends to contribute to the knowledge concerning standardization by identifying essential factors for a successful implementation, based on how the company operates at present. This intends to result in recommendations for the company to use when standardizing their processes regarding POC.Methodology: This study consists of a qualitative case study on a company, which is in the process of implementing standardization. Interviews were performed in three of the company’s Swedish offices. Conclusion: The study shows that standardization will bring several benefits for the company and the recommendations are to proceed with the implementation process. The company must however take action in order to make the implementation possible. By introducing a mutual template for models, document best-in-class procedures and adopt them, set procedures for storing essential documents, and increase the knowledge and understanding for other units’ procedures and needs.

The role of regret and its applications in IS decision making

Park, EunHee 25 July 2014 (has links)
Although IS studies have begun to recognize the role of emotion in decision making, the research in this area is still in its infancy. The exploration of IS decision making phenomena through the lens of regret can offer rich implications to both research and practice. The presence of regret, for instance, can explain how and why IS decision makers choose a certain option. Motivated by the gap in the literature, the three papers in this dissertation investigate the role of regret in decision making in IS contexts. Specifically, the three projects investigate the following: IT real options decision in the context of RFID investment in libraries, whistle-blowing decision in the context of violations of heath information privacy, and process documentation decision in the context of investment in process improvement initiatives in an IT project. The contributions and implications of the three studies are presented further.

Perioperační dokumentace v ČR / Perioperative documentation in Czech republic

KOHOUTOVÁ, Michaela January 2013 (has links)
Now that the nursing process, along with good-quality nursing documentation, is being introduced into all areas of patient care, the need arises to document work of perioperative nurses in the operating theatre. Perioperative documentation is entirely different from nursing documentation, not only in terms of processing but also in terms of scope. This thesis consists of two parts: Theoretical and Empirical. The Theoretical focuses on the general issue of medical documentation used at the various hospital departments. The aim of the work was to (1) map current situation in the area of perioperative documentation at selected hospitals; (2) ascertain which components perioperative documentation is composed of; (3) find the opinion of nurses on the use of perioperative documentation; and (4) set up perioperative documentation. The research part of the thesis was a combination of quantitative and qualitative survey. For the quantitative survey, questionnaires were prepared and distributed to perioperative nurses working in operating theatres of hospitals throughout the Czech Republic. Two hypotheses were proposed. 1. Perioperative documentation is maintained at operating theatres. 2. Nurses consider perioperative documentation useful. Qualitative examination consisted in comparative analysis of perioperative documentation folders. The research set consisted of six perioperative documentation folders obtained from hospitals throughout the Czech Republic. Answers to the following three questions were sought: (1) Is perioperative documentation used at operating theatres? (2) Which parts is perioperative documentation composed of? (3) Does perioperative documentation comply with applicable legislation? The results were analyzed and processed into tables and graphs. The results show that nurses use perioperative documentation at operating theatres. From the research it follows that the processing of the perioperative folders is not fully compliant with applicable legislation. Although mandatory data are included in the vast majority of perioperative folders, the nursing process, as the information which is most important for nursing care, is missing from all of the perioperative folders analyzed. Despite this, nurses consider perioperative documentation useful, not only from the medical aspect but also from the legal, financial and informative aspects. The results of this research may stimulate creation of a unified model of perioperative documentation. This work may also serve as information material for students of medical disciplines.

Dostalík, Martin Unknown Date (has links)
The goal of this project is the identification with management, analysis and documentation of processes which are used in software development and creating prototype which support these processes. It explains why is important to create new working processes, measure their efficiency and improve them subsequently. Next, it describes the methods which help with the integration of these processes at work and, manage them, especially the Rational Unified Process from the IBM company. Then, I describe the ways how to develop www applications and, consequently, how to work with these applications. The thesis also involves the specification of the requirements and the scheme for the program support application of the process documentation and the description of this application. / This study aims to create a methodological proposal for the evaluation of investments in Information Technology assets related to the public management sector through the collection and compilation of techniques, methods and tools for this purpose. It is a concept research that can support the decision-making process about whether or not to invest in IT projects, seeking to base and aggregate transparency on the actions of government agencies, proposing the creation of standards and making documentation available on taken decisions. Even though the initial focus is on public management actions, the methodology proposed here is not limited to this sector, and its application can be extended to the private sector environment. During the development of this research there was interaction with public service agents, raising requirements to be met and starting from these definitions, the search for theoretical references was made to support the analysis proposals, studying methodologies, tools and techniques directed to the decision-making process . It was defined the way of construction of the analyzes by applying the steps of the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology, constructing artifacts from the theories compiled, providing the materialization of the actions through the use of the flows and drawn drawings, creating, a methodological process that supports the decision to execute the investment and also standardizes, documents and adds agility to its development.
