The thesis is concerned with a comparison of Java web framework OpenXava and frameworks Grails, Zend, Play, Nette, Node.JS and Symfony processed by authors Odehnal [17], Kadlec [12], Kočárek [14] and Dočkal [6]. It contains theoretical part concerned with development and architecture of framework, which provides a comprehensive picture of working with OpenXava. The practical part contains particular sample application of the specifications of which come from the thesis created by František OdehnalIt contains theoretical part concerned with development and architecture of framework, which provides a comprehensive picture of working with OpenXava. The practical part contains particular sample application of the specifications of which come from the thesis created by František Odehnal [17]. The process of its development is described in detail and completes information from the official documentation of OpenXava framework. As a result of the knowledge gained during the development of the sample application, great comparison of the above-mentioned frameworks and OpenXava is contained. The comparison involves several areas. At the beginning, general differences of frameworks and implementation of Martin Fowler´s design patterns are compared. The next area is carried out in working within framework and covers objective criteria as well as a subjective point of view. The last area is concerned with a support of the frameworks and examines availability of literature, support from its developers and also how much it is widespread among the professional public. The results of the comparison should make the orientation in the market of web frameworks easier.

Srovnání platformy .NET s dalšími platformami pro vývoj webových aplikací / Comparison of .NET and other platforms for developing web applicationsLouda, Petr January 2012 (has links)
The thesis complements a comparison of two frameworks for Java platform and PHP language by third framework for .NET platform. As the main source of comparison serves thesis by František Odehnal and a sample application developed in ASP.NET MVC framework. Thanks to the detailed description of the application development and application of reasonable complexity thesis can serve as a study material for novice developers. A secondary aim of this thesis is to complete the context of web application development, by analyzing trends in rapid application development (RAD) and through presentation of .NET platform. Following František Odehnal's methodology this thesis complements comparison of Grails and Zend frameworks by ASP.NET MVC framework. The first area comparisons are fundamental differences between the frameworks. A comparison of architecture of frameworks follows and criteria are based on the architectural patterns of Martin Fowler. Working with frameworks is compared by using objective criteria and personal opinions. These areas are complemented by comparison of frameworks support (publications, discussion groups, etc.). Completed comparison allows the reader to get an overview of frameworks for rapid application development on the three major platforms. This can help novice developers in deciding which framework to test or use. Presentation of the platform and the trend analysis provides additional useful information not only for novice developers.

Indications of Single-Session Improvement in Writing Center SessionsWilder, Aaron 05 1900 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / In the complementary fields of Composition and Writing Center Studies, the common goal is to guide writers toward improvement in literate practices. However, the meaning of the word “improvement” has undergone radical shifts across time within both fields. It has of late shifted away from a concrete, product-oriented definition toward a non-concrete, process and person-centered nebula. In short, the field of Writing Studies has become very sure what improvement is not, while less sure what it is. Despite this uncertainty, one area of recent agreement appears to be the importance of control that writers hold in navigating within and across literate contexts, often referred to by the slippery term, agency. This pilot study seeks to utilize the voices of researchers across a spectrum of fields to more precisely define agency. This definition will be consistent with current scholarship in both Composition and Writing Center Studies and informed by related fields such as linguistics, anthropology, sociology, and philosophy. It will then utilize that definition in constructing a RAD (replicable, aggregable and data-driven) qualitative analysis of post-session interviews between researcher and writer. This method will attempt to determine possibilities and guidelines for future research. Particularly, it will provide a framework for future researchers to measure improvement in writing through a more refined definition of social agency. Through that, it will seek to support previous study which suggests as little as a single session in the Writing Center can demonstrate improvement in students’ perceptions of their own writing.

Telemetry Re-Radiation SystemCook, Paul, Natale, Louis 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2008 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Fourth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 27-30, 2008 / Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California / Enclosed weapon bays on modern aircraft interfere with prelaunch, Flight Termination System verification during training test launches. Range safety personnel need to verify the functionality of the flight termination system prior to missile launch. The missile telemetry RF is highly attenuated when the aircraft missile bay doors are closed, limiting the range for which the aircraft can fly during training flights. Teletronics Technology Corporation and Lockheed Martin designed a system to provide telemetry data for these aircraft. The system re-radiates the telemetry from the missiles with the weapon bay doors closed. This paper describes the design considerations for this flexible system that accommodates multiple weapon systems in multiple weapon bay configurations.

Evaluation of an Agar Dilution Method for Identification of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in the EnvironmentErukunuakpor, Kimberly 13 May 2016 (has links)
Antibiotic resistance is a serious global public health problem. ESBLs are enzymes that destroy expanded-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotics rendering these drugs ineffective. Infection with ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae are hard to treat and result in longer hospital stay and higher mortality rates. The Clinical Laboratory Standard Institute (CLSI) have standard methods for detection of ESBL producing strains of bacteria in infected patients to guide antibiotic therapy, reduce the risk of mortality and risk of transmission. The presence of K.pneumoniae and E.coli which produce ESBLs have been confirmed in natural environments such as soil and water but no standard methods exist to identify directly and quantify these bacteria to understand the risk of human exposure in these settings. The purpose of this research is to assess the ability of an agar dilution method, using a differential agar Bio-Rad Rapid E.coli 2 agar utilized in environmental water quality studies, to identify correctly ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ceftriaxone antibiotic for wild-type ESBL producing K.pneumoniae isolates were compared on Mueller-Hinton broth (MHB) and Bio-Rad Rapid E.coli 2 agar. Using the MIC values, the isolates were classified as susceptible, intermediate or resistant. The MIC of wild-type strains of K.pneumoniae were above 4μg/mL for both methods on all susceptibility tests performed. The results of this research suggest that Bio-Rad Agar dilution method performed well, correctly identifying these strains as resistant to ceftriaxone, an indication of ESBL production. The Bio-Rad agar dilution method can be considered as a viable standard method for direct identification of ESBL-producing K.pneumoniae in natural environments.

Characterization of genome-wide deviations from Mendelian inheritance in bivalve speciesPeñaloza Navarro, Carolina Soledad January 2018 (has links)
Marine bivalves are a group of species composed of clams, mussels and oysters. Bivalves are keystone species in coastal ecosystems and represent an increasingly important segment of the global aquaculture industry. Domestication of shellfish species is in the early stages, with few organized breeding programmes and a heavy reliance on wild seed. Consequently, the development and use of genomic markers may significantly assist shellfish aquaculture breeding and production. However, molecular genetic markers typically exhibit unusual patterns of segregation in bivalve species, which result in deviations from Mendelian expectations, and could potentially limit their use in parental assignment, mapping of quantitative trait loci and genomic prediction. Previous studies have suggested that segregation distortions originate at the larval stage, as a result of the linkage of markers to deleterious mutations. This high genetic load has been associated with the high fecundity of bivalve species. However, no direct evidence of a high incidence of de novo mutations has been provided. The aim of this thesis is to gain further insight into segregation distortions in bivalve species by studying the phenomenon at a genome-wide scale, using modern high-throughput sequencing technology. The studies presented in this thesis derive from experiments involving genotyping of parents and offspring from pair-crosses of three different bivalve species (the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas, the Blue mussel Mytilus edulis, and the GreenshellTM mussel Perna canaliculus) using high throughput sequencing and SNP arrays. The parent and offspring genotype data were used to characterize patterns of segregation distortion at a genome-wide level, followed by exploratory analyses to test hypotheses related to possible causes of this distortion. Three main findings resulted from the genome-wide analysis of segregation patterns. First, by using Restriction site Associated DNA sequencing (RAD-Seq) we observe that technical artefacts are more widespread than previously considered, contributing to apparent distortions via unreliable genotype calls. By analysing read depth data from RAD-Seq, we suggest that apparent homozygous genotype calls may actually be hemizygous, suggesting a very high frequency of null alleles which contribute to distorted segregation patterns. Bioinformatic pipelines to improve RAD-Seq locus assembly and marker genotyping for bivalve species are presented. Second, by using a high-density SNP array and RAD-Seq in pair crosses of Pacific oyster and aligning to the reference genome assembly, we find that segregation distortions cover extensive regions of the genome, and that certain genomic regions are consistently distorted in different families. Finally, following previous suggestions that the reproductive strategies of bivalve species may favour a high mutation rate, we provide preliminary evidence of a high incidence of de novo mutations that appear spontaneously (i) during male and female gamete formation and (ii) post-zygotically, during larval development. This putative high de novo mutation rate is likely to also contribute to deviations from Mendelian inheritance patterns in these species. New genomic technologies have allowed us to gain substantial insight into the intriguing yet poorly understood phenomena related to inheritance in bivalve species. The results have both fundamental and practical implications for genetic analysis interpretation and selective breeding for aquaculture in this large and highly diverse group of species.

Hermann Hesses Unterm Rad: Identitätssuche eines JugendlichenMangan, Martina 29 June 1994 (has links)
Hermann Hesse's reflection on youth is one of his most popular themes. In his novel Unterm Rad (1906), Hesse explores youth and their search for identity. The author not only accuses the German educational system of at the turn of the century, but also the teachers and parents, of standing in the children's way in developing an individualized personality. According to Hesse, this development, however painful, is the primary responsibility of the adolescent. Hermann Hesse feels strongly about becoming a personality, namely the privilege to feel, act, and think independently of the masses. Every individual has an obligation to follow his inner voice and to develop his own identity. The first part of this thesis concentrates on the novel Unterm Rad and consists of a summary, thematic discussion, the novel's presentation and its original and succeeding receptions. It then discusses the definition and theory of "identity" in regard to young people. By focusing on the two protagonists Giebenrath and Heilner, their goals and the reality of their lives, their struggle on their way to adulthood becomes apparent. Finally this thesis explores Hesse's own childhood and youth and examines the autobiographical elements in the literary figures of this novel.

Relay-Assisted Decorrelating Multiuser Detection for Asynchronous Cooperative Uplink NetworksFang, Chieh-cheng 23 August 2010 (has links)
In this thesis, we consider the uplink of a cooperative code division multiple access (CDMA) network, where users cooperate by relaying each other¡¦s messages to the
base station. The sources adopt CDMA to share the informations offered by relays. In general, spreading waveforms of sources are not orthogonal to each others due to pratical design issues of CDMA network. Therefore, the source signals will suffer from multiple access interference (MAI) at the relays and destination. The MAI results in the increase of bit error rate increased, and diminishes the cooperative network diveristy gains. In order to mitigate MAI, the decorrelating multiuser detection and
zero-forcing precoder have been commonly adopted. But, the decorrelating multiuser detection causes noise enhancement, while the zero-forcing precoder causes power expansion. In this thesis, we adopt relay-assisted decorrelating multiuser detector (RAD-MUD) to mitigate MAI as proposed in [1].In this scheme, the relays perform
half of decorrelating operation and the destination performs the other half. In this way, neither noise enhancement nor power expansion will occur. However, in the reference [1], the authers assume the transmission is synchronous between sources and relays. The assumption is unrealistic, because it is difficult to achieve synchronization between all sources and relays due to various propagation delays. In this thesis, we extend the research in [1] and relax restriction of synchronization between all sources and relays. Besides, we also adopt cooperative strategies such as transmit beamforming or selective relaying to enhance system performance. Compared with other¡¦s multiuser detection schemes, we show that the proposed schemes can effectively reduce the bit error rate.
