Specifika prozodie českého filmového dabingu / Prosodic characteristics of Czech film dubbing

Schindlerová, Tereza January 2015 (has links)
The aim of the thesis was to design an analytical model enabling a comparative analysis of both original and dubbed versions of film dialogues, with special regard to prosodic interference (intonation in particular), to describe and explain such interference, caused by certain differences between Czech and English, and to assess its influence on communication, considering the nature of a film character and its reception by Czech recipients. The analysis showed that higher pitch register and extended intonation range were the most common types of interference, bringing about the impression of over-emotive and over-melodious speech and also changing some of the film characters. These types of interference were caused by a different way of using intonation within the system of a language; English uses intonation to signal information structure and to express emotions as well. Interesting results were obtained when a structural approach to a character, as proposed by Jiří Levý (1971), was applied in the analysis. Surprisingly, another type of interference was discovered; it is a sort "indirect" interference developed in cases when the dubbed version closely follows the original and its dominant prosodic features and uses them in situations where the original does not. Such interference is changing the...

Fenomén video tutoriálů na YouTube / ¨The phenomenon of tutorial videos on YouTube

Hora, Samuel January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis discusses the phenomenon of tutorials uploaded on the most visited server for viewing and sharing video content nowadays - YouTube. The term tutorial here is used for referring to the specific instructional video content, which primarily aims to show, by means of the step by step illustration, how to proceed within particular activity that usually requires to adopt a certain extent of specialized knowledge or skills. At the same time, the attention is focused on the graphic design and fine art tutorials. The main goal of the thesis is to answer following question: what motivations might internet users have both for the reception and for the production of tutorials. In other words, the thesis is oriented on searching for the highest possible amount of motives that can lead to the viewing as well as to the shooting of this specific media content. Therefore, this requires examining a given field from two different perspectives: from the perspective of receiving viewers and from the perspective of video makers. Whole thesis structure is then subordinated to these two perspectives. The first part introduces the relevant theoretical approaches related to the tutorial reception/production, whereas the second practical part is devoted to the presentation of particular motivation...

Recepce irské literatury a dramatu v češtině / The Reception of Irish Literature and Drama in Czech Translation

Laurincová, Alžběta January 2016 (has links)
1 Abstract The main aim of the thesis is to introduce the problematics of Czech translations from Irish literature published in the Czech Lands in the period between 1945 - 2014. The author of the thesis provides the list of the authors that were translated in the Czech Lands in that period, and comments upon the literary tradition related to it. Due to the extensive amount of works, the thesis is divided into several chapters, introducing four specific periods: 1945 - 1948 (the end of WWII - the beginning of the Soviet control), 1949 - 1968 (Soviet control - the occupation of the Troops of Warsaw Pact), 1969 - 1989 (the occupation - Velvet Revolution) and 1989 - 2014 (Velvet Revolution - "Velvet Divorce" - the present day). In each chapter the historic introduction is provided mainly to foreshadow the context of the whole era. The discussion about the translations from Irish literature consists from general list of works by individual authors and comments upon their presence at the Czech literary market, the frequency of publishing, the reception of individual authors etc. The author also considers the socio-political occurences that might have influenced the final shape of the Irish-Czech literary canon, and, when possible, tries to demonstrate the extent of such influence.

Dandy jako umělecké dílo? / Dandy as a work of art?

Csicsely, Lukáš January 2017 (has links)
(in English): My goal in this diploma thesis is to verify the claim that "dandy is a work of art". The figure of Dandy is often defined by the claim that it truly is a work of art. Dandy is after all defined like that by the founders of the debate on dandysm (Barbey d`Aurevilly, Charles Baudelaire and Oscar Wilde) and also by contemporary theoreticians of dandysm (such as Francois Coblence, Daniel S. Schiffer and Karin Becker). However, despite the numerous occurrences of the definition, the claim was never extended into general theory of dandy as work of art. I am here trying to do that. First, I am looking for a definition that best suits the concept of dandy according to the founders. I confront the concept of dandysm with several definitions of art (mimetic, expressive, formalistic, institutional or functionalist). With the definition that the comparison shows as the most appropriate - the functionalist theory of art - I continue to operate. With a structuralist definition of Jan Mukařovský. From the structuralistic point of view I answer the basic questions connected within the discourse of aesthetics with the concept of the work of art. I am looking for a basic material (material norm) that would create the identity of dandy as a specific kind of artwork. Based on that, I distinguish artistic...

Rané křesťanství a jeho zobrazení trojjediného boha / Earl christianity and vizualization trinity of Got

Činátl, Jiří January 2017 (has links)
Though the trinitarian iconography is fairly easy to understand, it remains with many of the 4th and 5th century works it is unclear and difficult to explain. In the literature of the last century, we often encounter ideas that have been absorbed in older works and subsequently only mechanically repeated in subsequent works. Such a way of interpreting can lead to controversial iconographic analyzes in order to focus in a trinitarian way and to attempt in a tricky way to explain the iconography of "non-trivial" artefacts. This diploma thesis attempts to open a difficult question of the origin, development and interaction of individual types of symbols representing the Trinity. The aim of this work is to mark the effort of a complex view, which will try, especially with similar motives and symbols, to lead to a more precise interpretation and classification within the framework of trinitarian iconography. The main aim of this diploma thesis is the effort of theological, artistic, historical and philosophical grasp of the issue of the image of God in the first millennium of the Christian faith. Due to the vastness and considerable lack of clarity of this topic, the work is conceived with a focus on the first millennium of Christianity. Many examples of depictions and symbolic references to the Triune...

Analýza recepce knižní trilogie Fifty Shades a filmové adaptace jejího prvního dílu / Reception analysis of the Fifty Shades trilogy and a film adaptation of its first part

Jirková, Beáta January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to analyse the reception of the Fifty Shades book trilogy and a film adaptation of its first part from the perspective of a female audience - both women who like the books and/or the film and women who do not like them. The thesis sought to describe the fundamental ways of the reception of the Fifty Shades phenomenon and to connect them to media and public discourse about the trilogy. The research questions were particularly focused on women's motivations to reading the books and/or watching the film, their approach to and evaluation of the trilogy. A part of the thesis was also a comparison of the two groups of female readers and viewers regarding the questions mentioned above and a connection of those questions with media and public discourse about Fifty Shades. During the conducted research 13 individual semistructured interviews with female readers and viewers of Fifty Shades have been done. The gained data were analysed by using the grounded theory method (particularly in vivo coding and axial coding). The outcome of the analysis is a description of two different ways of reception and interpretation of Fifty Shades which show persisting ambiguity of romantic fictions for women. The analysis also revealed an impact of media and public discourse about the trilogy on...

Biblický Job a jeho recepce v německojazyčné literatuře / The Biblical Job and his reception in the German-speaking literature

Bendová, Adéla January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis presents the character of Job and his reception in German-speaking literature on the basis of three works of the twentieth century, written by Joseph Roth, Oskar Kokoschka and Günter Kunert. The starting point for the literary reception is the biblical Old Testament book Job, whose story, form and circumstances of origin are mentioned in the first part of the work. Following are the performances of individual authors and the interpretation of their works. The core of the work is a comparison of literary reception of the figure of Job in the texts with a biblical original. The subject of the study was, in particular, the question of how the selected authors deal with the biblical substance, how they use Job for their works and which meaning have the comic elements in their texts.

Druhý život Zdeňka Nejedlého v české historiografii a kultuře / The second life of Zdeněk Nejedlý in Czech historiography and culture

Nájemník, Václav January 2018 (has links)
Title: The second life of Zdeněk Nejedlý in Czech historiography and culture Author: Mgr. Václav Nájemník Supervisor: doc. PhDr. Ivana Čornejová, Csc. Department: The History and History Didactics Department Keywords: Zdeněk Nejedlý, second life, methodology, reception, historiography, culture, communism, totalitarianism, literature, art, Bedřich Smetana, Alois Jirásek Abstract: The following dissertation deals with the "second life" of Czech historian, musicologist, reviewer and politician Zdeněk Nejedlý (1878-1962). Its aim is not to elaborate a new biography, but to describe and analyse the influence of this personality on Czech historiography and culture during the communist totalitarian system. His influence is usually perceived as very strong, but seems to have changed over time, and moreover weakened. An important topic will also be the development of the attitude of historians, writers and other cultural personalities to the personality and work of Zdeněk Nejedlý in the context of Czech history in the second half of the twentieth century. The purpose of the work is to show that the personality of Zdeněk Nejedlý is not the only negative factor that worked for society, but that he himself participated actively in the creation of this image. Finally, it also appears that the "second life" of some of...
