[pt] A construção de poços marítimos tem se mostrado uma atividade complexa e de alto risco. Para efetuar esta atividade as empresas se valem principalmente das unidades de intervenção de poços, também conhecidas como sondas. Estas possuem altos valores de taxas diárias de uso devido à manutenção preventiva da unidade em si, mas também por falhas as quais seus equipamentos estão sujeitos. No cenário específico da Petrobras, em junho de 2011, foi implantado no banco de dados da empresa um maior detalhamento na classificação das falhas de equipamentos de sonda. Com isso gerou-se uma descontinuidade nos registros da empresa e a demanda para adequar estes casos menos detalhados à classificação atual, mais completa. Os registros são compostos basicamente de informação textual. Para um passivo de 3384 registros, seria inviável alocar uma pessoa para classificá-los. Com isso vislumbrou-se uma ferramenta que pudesse efetuar esta classificação da forma mais automatizada possível, utilizando os registros feitos após junho de 2011 como base. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é de sanar esta descontinuidade nos registros de falha de equipamentos de sonda. Os dados foram tratados e transformados por meio de ferramentas de mineração textual bem como processados pelo algoritmo de aprendizado supervisionado SVM (Support Vector Machines). Ao final, após obter a melhor configuração do modelo, este foi aplicado às informações textuais do passivo de anormalidades, atribuindo suas classes de acordo com o novo sistema de classificação. / [en] Off-shore well construction has shown to be a complex and risky activity. In order to build off-shore wells, operators rely mainly on off-shore rigs. These rigs have an expensive day rate, related to their rental and maintenance, but also due to their equipment failure. At off-shore Petrobras scenario, on June of 2011, was implemented at the company database a better detailing on the classification of rig equipment failure. That brought a discontinuity to the database records and created a demand for adequacy of the former classification to the new classification structure. Basically, rig equipment failure records are based on textual information. For a liability of 3384 records, it was unable for one person to manage the task. Therefore, an urge came for a tool that could classify these records automatically, using database records already classified under the new labels. The main purpose of this work is to overcome this database discontinuity. Data was treated and transformed through text mining tools and then processed by supervised learning algorithm SVM (Support Vector Machines). After obtaining the best model configuration, the old records were submitted under this model and were classified according to the new classification structure.

The master’s thesis deals with a design of a radial journal bearing simulator, which is ready to implement a transparent sapphire journal bearing to an optical observation of the oil film. The first part of this thesis contains a short review of a few currently used journal bearing test rigs. The next part of the work deals with a discussion of concept variants and a definition of important parameters. The last part contains a detailed description of the designed radial journal bearing simulator. Limitations of the designed simulator and recommendations for future improvements are also discussed. The result of the presented work is the designed journal bearing simulator which will allow observing of the oil film. The work also consists a complete design documentation.

Construction of cooling rig and investigation of cooling sensitivity for aluminum crash alloy

The work presented in this master thesis deal with the issue of quenching, investigation regarding different cooling rates and its effect on the material properties of aluminum alloy in the 6xxx series used for crash purposes in cars, such as crash boxes, beams and other crash relevant parts. Precipitation of Mg2Si due to different cooling rates affects the material properties such as crash performance, thus the aluminum alloy used is sensitive to different cooling rates. In order to perform tests with different cooling rates a cooling rig was constructed. In order to evaluate the different cooling rates both mechanical testing such as tensile test and 3-point bending test and compression test were performed. Also analyses with scanning electron microscope/energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy were performed to estimate grain boundary decoration of Mg2Si due to the different cooling rates. Furthermore LOM analyses were performed to evaluate if the experimental setup had any effect on material properties such as grain size. The constructed cooling rig produced different cooling rates with reliable repeatability as intended. Cooling rates between 130 ̊C/s and 20 ̊C/s were accomplished. Mg2Si occurred in all investigated test samples with various amounts. Higher cooling rates decreases the precipitation of Mg2Si to the grain boundaries, higher cooling rates also increased the bending angle achieved from the 3-point bending test. Furthermore, extensive solution heat treatment at elevated temperatures leads to grain growth.

Thermal modelling of an FZG test gearbox / Termisk modellering av FZG-test-växellåda

Gearboxes are always subject of study in order to increase their efficiency. Energy losses in gear contacts are transformed into heat which is distributed among the gearbox components increasing their temperature. A thermal model of the gearbox brings the opportunity of a deeper understanding of the heat dissipated related to the power losses in the gear contact. A MATLAB program based on ordinary differential equations was developed in order to make a thermal model of an FZG test gearbox. The model is based on a thermal network where each node represents a machine element. The thermal network is composed by thermal resistances due to deformation in the gear contact, conduction, convection and radiation. With thermal resistances, power losses and thermal inertia of each element, the temperature evolution was obtained by applying the First Principle of Thermodynamics. Due to the temperature evolution, heat transfer between different elements was estimated. Additionally, experimental results from an FZG test rig were implemented in the model and also used to verify its accuracy. Furthermore, additional features to the model such as a cooling system and spray lubrication were also studied. Results show a wide capability and handling of the program in terms of thermal analysis: heat flux direction and magnitude, visual tools such as thermal network of the test gearbox, as well as the analysis of different operating conditions. With these tools, an approach to the minimum amount of lubricant necessary and other ways to quench overheating could then be reached. Energiförluster i kuggkontakter omvandlas till värme som sprids i växellådan som sedan värmer upp komponenterna. En termisk modell av växellådan gör det möjligt för djupare förståelse hur värmen sprids i förhållande till energiförlusterna i kuggkontakten. Ett MATLAB-program baserat på ordinära differential-ekvationer utvecklades för att göra en termisk modell av en växellåda i en kuggrigg från FZG. Modellen är baserad på ett termiskt nätverk där varje nod representerar en maskinkomponent. Det termiska nätverket består av resistanser som uppstår på grund av deformation i kuggkontakten, ledning, konvektion och strålning. Med termiska resistanser, energiförluster, termisk tröghet från komponenterna och genom att applicera termodynamikens första grundsats kunde temperatur-genereringen bestämmas. Från temperatur-genereringen kunde värme-ledningen mellan komponenter uppskattas. Testresultat från en FZG-kuggrigg användes för att verifiera modellens noggrannhet. Andra egenskaper till modellen, som ett annat kylsystem och spraysmörjning studerades för att undersöka möjligheteten att adderas till modellen. Resultat visar på en bred användning av modellen i avseende på termisk analys: värmeflödets storlek och riktning, ett visuellt redskap för växellådans temperatur och hur växellådans temperatur varierar under olika driftförhållanden. Med de här redskapen kan den minsta oljemängden som behövs för att smörja kuggkontakten undersökas och hur kylning av kugghjulen kan förbättras. Hemolysis assessment of heart pumps is necessary to be carried out before progressing to clinical trials. Blood pump hemolysis assessment standards, such as ASTM F1830 and F1841, were initially based on continuous flow pumps and included the pulsatile flow pumps later in 2019. However, a lack of guidance on the test rig design results in diverse rigs being applied in literature and companies. An aluminum-profile-based rig, which was named the old rig in this study, was created based on Gräf’s mock loop for pulsatile flow pumps in the literature. Nevertheless, this rig was without a user-friendly interface for blood-filling and de-airing, and it led to a risk of blood leakage, more effort required, and a chance of more hemolysis induced during the processes. Thus, this thesis aims to create a new rig for pulsatile flow pumps and improve its usability for blood filling and de-airing. To achieve the goals, a new rig design concept and its prototype were generated through the design thinking process. Next, user experience testings with the tasks, rig filling, de-airing, and emptying, were given to 5 users to validate if the features of the new rig could satisfy the user needs and improve the usability in terms of efficiency and user satisfaction. Lastly, two blood tests were conducted with the paired rigs, the old rig, and the new rig, based on the same pulsatile flow pump prototypes to investigate the impact of the new system layout on the hemolysis assessment. The results from the user experience testing showed that the new rig had a higher efficiency mainly based on the positive qualitative feedback of the users. The average satisfaction scores in all three tasks were higher on the new rig than on the old rig. Furthermore, the new rig did not induce more hemolysis than the old rig based on the two blood tests. Though the results were not statistically significant, the new rig could be a potential reference for a new standard of hemolysis testing on pulsatile blood pumps with user-friendly blood filling and de-airing processes. / Hemolys bedömning av hjärtpumpar är nödvändigt att utföras innan fortsättning till kliniska tester. Slutligen, genomfördes två försök med blod med de parade riggarna, gamla riggen och den nya riggen, baserat på samma pulserade flödespump prototyp för att undersöka det nya systemets layout påverkan på hemolys bedöming. Resultatet från användarupplevelse försöken visade att den nya riggen hade högre effektivitet vilket främst baserades på den kvalitativa återkopplingen från användarna. Den genomsnittliga tillfredsställelsen i alla tre uppgifter var högre med den nya riggen än med gamla riggen. Det var ingen ökning av hemolys i den nya riggen, baserat på de två blodförsöken. Trots att resultaten inte var statiskt säkerställt, så visade det sig vara en potentiell referens för en ny standard för hemolystestning på pulserade blodpumpar med användarvänliga blodfyllnings- och avluftningsprocesser.
