Intenzivní dům v Brně / Intensive Urban Housing Brno

Račko, Valentín January 2015 (has links)
This master thesis is exploring a possibility of densifying traditional block structure of a city by the design of a multifunctional building. It is located in Brno exactly in Brno centrum city part. The building site is defined by Veveří, Kounicova and Pekárenská streets. On the forth side there is existing block of flats on the Sokolská Street. The design itself is based on the form of a traditional enclosed block of flats, but masses are oriented differently. The basic principle is layering when first two floors are commercially oriented and therefore accessible by public. Living areas are separated by position above. The roof, connecting all of the buildings, is taking role of a traditional courtyard. In this case, it stays visually connected with surrounding street life and newly formed commercial parts. Masses of the complex are reflecting different city structures on each side. It encloses on the side of the Veveří Street which creates undisturbed street corridor. New structure opens more to Kounicova Street and reflects free city pattern of this part.

Silva Arredondo, Eric Carlos 22 January 2021 (has links)
Convinced that the ignorance of history and our environment, leads us to resolve by paths that remain and do not contribute; forgetting that nature provides; more does not punish. The following thesis project; `` Museum of Natural Phenomena - Malecón Rivera Monserrate '', is an architectural investigation that aims to unite the typologies of museum and boardwalk. The project seeks to be an example of the prevention of the `` disaster '', both for the exhibitions that do not pretend a false ecology, research areas and above all the volumetry. The latter, contemplates relating by containing the floods of the Rímac river, without imposing either the natural environment or the historical urban context of the city of Lima. For this, it will use construction elements, such as the cutwater, walkable roofs and equipment such as flooded orchards. The idea of using elements and constructive concepts, today forgotten; it is based on the use of three emphases; Environmental determinism, Calendar buildings and Feedback loops. The site to develop the project is located in the abandoned area of the Monserrate station, Cercado de Lima. The selection of the land is strengthened with two Municipal plans; The initiative for the recovery of Plaza Monserrate and the restoration of Lima 2035 heritage homes. The decision-making process in a rural community in Lesotho

Perry, J G, 1942- January 1978 (has links)
From Introduction: Lesotho is a small, mountainous country entirely surrounded by South Africa. The stark nature of its terrain and topography present harsh options to its inhabitants. Much of the country is mountainous, better suited to the keeping of stock than to agriculture. The lowlands, where the soils are more amenable to the plough, are scarred and cut by dongas. The soil is overworked and overcrowded and Lesotho does not grow enough to feed its people who depend on migrancy as a viable alternative to the limited resources of their own land. They stream from the country to seek wage employment in South Africa, for Lesotho has minimal industrial development and cannot provide jobs for her people. The civil service absorbs some of the educated elite, as does teaching, but the majority must sell their sweat in South Africa's service.
