The search for an integrative space between the feminine and the masculine principles becomes necessary because of the manifestation of the sacred that inhabits each one. This is a theoretical and qualitative work that considers three aspects of an analogy between the archetype of the Wild Woman , the mythical figure of Lilith and the biblical character of Maria Magdalena. In the historical aspect of the mythical reports we notice a demonized image of these women and a diminishment of their shine as sacred manifestations, due to the annulment of the integrating space of each one. The Wild Woman IS WHAT SHE IS, and belongs to herself. The danger of the wild lies in the negation of her feminine power. The symbolic movement occurs when the woman touches her corporality, and her feminine power to generate and nurture encompasses the experience of becoming one-in-herself. These experiences mould her vase-body and recreate new forms of integration. Lilith and Maria Magdalena find divine wisdom in the wild and in nature, and teach us to come into contact with our lunar aspects. In the androgyny, through the encounter between the feminine and masculine poles, re-creation/resurrection blows life into the aspects that need restoration, composing the truth and wisdom of its sacred space. Meeting the wolf gives light to obscure aspects and brings consciousness to the path of knowledge of the soul. This is the point where the female divinities were demonized, renounced and confined to the obscure side of their dark moons. A Mulher Selvagem é O QUE É e pertence a si própria.

For this, it remakes the myth trajectory since ancient times, exploring the imagery of creation and its various expressions in archaic cultures in the Western World. The main objective of the research is to demonstrate the survival the symbolism of the Mother Goddess and the Serpent Myth in different cultural expressions in dialogue with the Sacred Circle Dances. It also takes into to identify the hidden message that externalizes through body movements that generate archetypical expressions codified in the ritualistic dances and performances, and explores in the same way, the domains of the Great Mother and the Serpent; its symbolic polysemy and the way they are organized in artistic and spacial terms. The main issue of this thesis is that whether the symbolism of the serpent can be considered as a mythical theme survival in the contemporary Sacred Circle Dance. Taking as methodological inspiration the hermeneutic conception of analysis, in this thesis the purpose is to connect the Myth of the Serpent with the most relevant works regarding the Sacred Feminine, history, anthropology and the ritualistic performances.

"Stealing the story, salvaging the she" : feminist revisionist fiction and the bible

Goosen, Adri 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MA (English))--University of Stellenbosch, 2010. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This thesis analyses six novels by different women writers, each of which rewrites an originally androcentric biblical story from a female perspective. These novels are The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, The Garden by Elsie Aidinoff, Leaving Eden by Ann Chamberlin, The Moon under her Feet by Clysta Kinstler, The Wild Girl by Michelle Roberts and Wisdom’s Daughter by India Edghill. By classifying these novels as feminist revisionist fiction, this study considers how they both subvert and revise the biblical narratives they are based on in order to offer readers new and gynocentric alternatives. With the intention of establishing the significance of such an endeavor, the study therefore employs the findings of feminist critique and theology to expose how the Bible, as a sexist text, has inspired, directly or indirectly, many of the patriarchal values that govern Western society and religion. Having established how biblical narratives have promoted and justified visions of women as marginal, subordinate and outside the realm of the sacred, we move on to explore how feminist rewritings of such narratives might function to challenge and transform androcentric ideology, patriarchal myth and phallocentric theology. The aim is to show that the new and different stories constructed within these revisionist novels re-conceptualise and re-imagine women, their place in society and their relation to the divine. Thus, as the title suggests, this thesis ultimately considers how women writers ‘steal’ the original biblical stories and transform them in ways that prove liberating for women.

The role of Archaeology in the Jesus industry

Dyer, Jennifer 12 1900 (has links)
The question leading to this study is whether the facts and theories pertaining to the Bible and Jesus Story as presented by The Authors (H Schonfield, D Joyce, B Thiering, M Baigent, R Leigh, H Lincoln; M Starbird, and D Brown) could be verified by the Archaeology evidence. I have adopted a multidiscipline and holistic approach considering information gathered from all media sources to ascertain what theories, if any could replace the traditional Jesus Story of the New Testament. I considered whether the alternative theories or traditional theories were believable due to the evidence presented by Biblical Archaeology or by the techniques used by The Authors in presenting their facts. By using Thouless’ system of Straight and Crooked thinking I was able to ascertain that the theories used in the novels written by The Authors may have been persuasive, but lacked substance. / Biblical and Ancient Studies / M.
