Pileggi ., Salvatore Flavio 15 April 2011 (has links)
A WEB COMPATIBLE FILE SERVER FOR MEASUREMENT AND TELEMETRY NETWORKS

Miller, Matthew J., Freudinger, Lawrence C. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 20-23, 2003 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / There is a gulf that separates measurement and telemetry applications from the full benefits of Internet style communication. Whereas the Web provides ubiquitous infrastructure for the distribution of file-based “static” data, there is no general Web solution for real-time streaming data. At best, there are proprietary products that target consumer multimedia and resort to custom point-to-point data connections. This paper considers an extension of the static file paradigm to a dynamic file and introduces a streaming data solution integrated with the existing file-based infrastructure of the Web. The solution approach appears to maximize platform and application independence leading to improved application interoperability potential for large or complex measurement and telemetry networks.

Mobile computing and sensor Web services for coastal buoys

Rajender, Santhosh Kumar Amanchi 11 December 2009 (has links)
Mobile device technology with the influence of the Internet is creating a lot of Webbased services so that people can have easy and 24-hour access to the services. Recently, the Google’s Android has revolutionized applications development for the mobile platform. As there is an increasing number of companies exposing their services as Web services, enabling flexible mobile access to distributed Web resources is a relevant challenge. However, the current Web is a collection of human readable pages that are unintelligible to computer programs. Semantic Web and Web services have the potential of overcoming this limitation. For this, a standard ontology called Ontology Web Language for Services (OWL-S) is employed. The vision is to automatically discover services like Sensor Web services from mobile. In this thesis, a mobile framework is developed for the automatic discovery of services. The application is implemented for the Coastal Sensor Web and the Semantic Web service.

Service-oriented middleware for dynamic, real-time management of heterogeneous geosensors in flood management / Middleware orientado a serviços para gerenciar dinamicamente e em tempo-real geosensores heterogêneos na gestão de inundações

Assis, Luiz Fernando Ferreira Gomes de 16 December 2015 (has links)
Natural disasters such as floods, droughts and storms cause many deaths and a great deal of damage worldwide. Recently, several countries have suffered from an the increased number of floods. This has led government agencies to seek to improve flood risk management by providing historical data obtained from stationary sensor networks to help communities that live in hazardous areas. However, the sensor networks can only help to check specific features (e.g. temperature and pressure), and are unable to contribute significantly to supplying the missing information that is required. In addition to stationary sensors, mobile sensors have also been used to monitor floods since they can provide images and reach distances that are not within the coverage of stationary sensors. By combining these heterogeneous sensors, an initiative called Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) seeks to free these applications from the idiosyncrasies that affect the implementation of these heterogeneous sensors. However, SWE cannot always be applied effectively in a context where sensors are embedded and removed dynamically. This dynamic context makes it a complex task to handle, control, access and discover sensors. In view of this, the aim of this work is to dynamically manage heterogeneous sensors involved in flood risk management in near real-time, by enabling interoperable access to their data and using open and reusable components. To achieve this goal, a service-oriented middleware was designed that contains a common protocol message, a dynamic sensor management component and a repository. This approach was evaluated performed by employing an application that prioritizes geographically social media messages based on sensor data.

Service-oriented middleware for dynamic, real-time management of heterogeneous geosensors in flood management / Middleware orientado a serviços para gerenciar dinamicamente e em tempo-real geosensores heterogêneos na gestão de inundações

Integration of component-based frameworks with sensor modeling languages for the sensor web

Kazemi, Kimia 01 August 2010 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to develop an easily modifiable sensor system. To achieve this goal SensorML (an XML based sensor language) is combined with Java Beans (a component model language). An important part of SensorML is its process model. Each sensor in the real world is depicted in SensorML by a process model, whereas the connections between the sensors are shown by a process chain. This thesis presents a translator that reads these documents and converts them to Java Beans. Through testing the Translator is proved more efficient than the convenient Object Oriented approach. / UOIT

Dynamiska resurser på Geodataportalen : teori och praktik

Högberg, Viktor, Jonis, Amir January 2012 (has links)

Sensor Observation Service for Environmental Monitoring Data

Mokhtary, Mandana January 2012 (has links)
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket) is the public agency in Sweden with responsibility to overview the conditions of the environment and the policies related to the environmental monitoring data. Nowadays, observation data are stored in several different data models in this organization, leading to difficulties in finding, understanding and consequently using data in terms of analysis and management of environmental issues. One common model that uniformly structures observation data could largely make it easier for decision makers to find the required information. The aim of this study is to build an interoperable data model for environmental monitoring observation in Naturvårdsverket based on OGC-SWE standard formats. The proposed solution relies on Sensor Web architecture, which is the set of data model definitions andweb service specifications. Also, this methodology is based on open source components; therefore it is cost-effective for the users. The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is used to create a uniform model by using communication protocols such as Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). The primary findings of the thesis is that when the observation is encoded into the standard format from the beginning, then it is easier to parse these documents and find the required information for the end users without knowing how these information are gathered and stored. The client scan send a request to the Sensor Observation Service (SOS) and receive the observation that is structured based on Observation and Measurements (O&M).
