Easy PreyNorris, Annika L 01 January 2023 (has links) (PDF)
Easy Prey is a three-dimensional (3D) animated action comedy short film about stereotypes, expectations, and portrayals of strength that follows a ballerina as she is cornered in an alley. The fight that ensues expresses women's empowerment, physically and emotionally, by challenging preconceptions of ballerinas and the performance of femininity. This expression is founded on the intentional inclusion and exclusion of common cinematic tropes to efficiently convey key information while undermining common stereotypes. The action and atmosphere utilize classic film techniques to heighten and release tension. Easy Prey is inspired by my personal journey in healing my relationship with femininity and its societal performance, finding value and strength where I once felt shame and inferiority. In confronting preconceptions in this film, the viewer is encouraged to reflect upon their own biases and views on strength while being entertained.

EchoBeltran, Ana 01 January 2024 (has links) (PDF)
Echo is a 3D animated short film rendered within Unreal Engine from Epic Games. The story is centered around a small child named Echo who has moved to Earth with her mom. The story follows her adventures through her first days at school and what can happen when a parent suddenly disappears from a child's life against their will.
Many of the story beats take direct inspiration from personal experiences of either myself, my family members, or stories of immigrant children who come to the United States (US) with their parents in search of a better future. There has been a lot of discussion about the immigration system in the United States in recent years, but not enough discussion on the experiences immigrant children have when going through the system and its issues, therefore this film aims to help shed a light on how just a small act of kindness can help build a new world for those that find themselves lost. The main character and the film are titled Echo because it is an "echo" of the past. Be it past experiences, stories, or events.

Spaced Out: Exploring Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Through AnimationKlapka, Alyssa R 01 January 2024 (has links) (PDF)
Spaced Out is about a 16-year-old high school student named Penny, who arrives home from school after a long day. She has astronomy homework that is due, and she is determined to sit down and get it done as fast as possible so that she can have some evening time to herself. This all goes awry when Opal, a dragon who is a manifestation of her ADHD, shows up to distract her. Penny must find a way to finish her assignment, not by ignoring Opal and pretending she isn't there, but by embracing the fact that she is a part of her and using it to her advantage. This short film is an educational fantasy based on my own experiences living with ADHD, and with it I hope to offer others a glimpse into my daily struggles. Many people still believe in harmful stereotypes about ADHD and assume it can manifest in only one way. Spaced Out is my attempt to bring further understanding to this complex mental health challenge.

They hope to open a beachside bar and spend the rest of their days relaxing and watching girls. When Percy starts dating Melinda Bundt, however, Larry's jealousy threatens to destroy the men's friendship. When Percy needs money to follow Melinda to Atlanta, Larry must choose between supporting his best friend or pursuing their dream of Barbados alone. / This research was carried out during Professional Master's Program in Language Teaching, aiming at the elaboration of a pedagogical product which is going to be available to educational professionals in order to contribute to teaching end learning process. After the enforcement, some enhancements were made in the teaching material, because it is an action research, according to Tripp's Concept (2005), in which, besides the pedagogical instrument, teacher-as-researcher's practice is also revised. Marcuschi's concept (2010) was used to discuss retextualization. Concerning the results, it is possible to say that during the observation of students writing development it was noticed a satisfactory progress regarding the adequacy to the studied genre, the enlargement of the use of linguistic resources in these students' writing and the finding of socialization of the produced short stories, beyond the planned socialization method. In addition to this, there was student engagement towards the proposal and, base on its application, it was possible to redesign the teaching material developed to be shared in a virtual media. / This research was carried out during Professional Master's Program in Language Teaching, aiming at the elaboration of a pedagogical product which is going to be available to educational professionals in order to contribute to teaching end learning process.
