Smrt jako artefakt: estetizace smrti v dílech Georgese Rodenbacha a Jiřího Karáska ze Lvovic / Death as an artifact: aesthetisation of death in works of Georges Rodenbach and Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic

Zvoníčková, Michaela January 2016 (has links)
The aim of the submitted thesis is a comparison of symbolism of a double in Georges Rodenbach's Bruges-la-Morte and Romány tří mágů of Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic. We will focus maily on death as a key motif of literature at the fin de siècle and a motif that is, in works we are examining, closely linked with the existence of a double. We will inspect motif of a double in the context of psychological states of mind. The choice of compared texts was motivated by the process of self disintegration. The process of self disintegration is closely connected with the process of depersonalisation which appears when a subject makes contact with a soulful space or a object. Cities (Bruges, Venice, Prague) which are the scene of this self disintegration take a special place in the literature of symbolism as a urban space of art and death at once. Despite mutual relation of life and art, the strange tension, and the phenomenon of annihilation, is still present within this relation.

Téma hrdinství a smrti ve staroanglickém eposu Béowulf / The Themes of Courage and Death in the Anglo-Saxon Epic Beowulf

DROBIL, Jaroslav January 2019 (has links)
This thesis analyses and interprets the famous Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf with regard to two main topics of the medieval epic poetry: the topics of courage and death. Theoretical background contains a description of medieval epic poetry and its functions. Furthermore, the introduction contains a description of English medieval epic poetry in historical and religious context (perception of death and afterlife with regard to the mixture of paganism and Christianity, meaning of heroism and heroic virtues - loyalty, pride, honour, persistency, determination, suppression of fear, willingness to help, sacrifice). Another chapter focuses on the creation of Beowulf itself and on the content and the form. The analysis draws on the Czech translation by J. Čermák. It focuses on the hero of the poem and it tries to find particular examples of the above mentioned virtues in three important passages of the poem (the fights with Grendel, with his mother and with the dragon). Another section deals with the image of death (the topics of burial, fateful disasters connected with monsters, fights), the question of afterlife, and with the function of the cyclic structure of epic poems (the never ending cycle of life and death) The thesis also tries to interpret the literary influence of the poem and its topicality.

Reprezentace smrti a tzv. posledních věcí člověka v Kancionálu českém V. M. Šteyera / Reprezentation of death and so called last things of man in Kancionál český of V. M. Šteyer

PASKUDOVÁ, Hedvika January 2016 (has links)
V práci tedy budeme sledovat, zda se rozdílnost v konfesijním původu či době vzniku projevuje v daných písňových textech i v rozdílném zpodobování smrti a tzv. posledních věcí člověka.

The thesis is titled The causes of injuries and deaths in the Czech Republic. The main objective is to highlight the constantly high death rate caused by car accident injuries and by a hidden threat of heart and cardio-vascular diseases resulting in most people's deaths. The next chapter analyzes most frequented diseases in the Czech Republic such as heart and cardio-vascular diseases, tumors, respiratory and digestive tract diseases, death, the most frequented injuries in the Czech republic and suicides. The practical part describes the research findings and results. Two types of questionnaires were used for this purpose. The former one was handed to randomly chosen people who had suffered any injuries. The latter one was given to medical doctors in order to trace the death causes in the course of a year. The questionnaire data were transferred into graphs and charts. The graphs and charts as well as the discusssion outcomes are described in the final part of the thesis. The paragaphs of my thesis contain the bibliographical and website references. In the appendixes both questionnaires are inserted.

Interakce makrofágů a buněk rakovinné prostatické linie PC-3

Mazalová, Lenka January 2018 (has links)
This dissertation on the theme Interaction of macrophages and the prostate cancer cell line PC-3 was focused on the initial mapping of interactions between human mac-rophages and the prostate cancer cell line PC-3. Microscopic and molecular-genetic methods have been used for analysis. The structure and ultrastructure of macrophages and PC-3 cells have been de-scribed. The description of cell morphology in interaction with each other has been de-voted to processes associated with adherence of macrophages on PC-3, eferocytosis and phagocytosis. Cultivation of PC-3 with plumbagine showed an increase of apoptotic cells. Cultivation of macrophages with PC-3 supernatant has shown that solubiling fac-tors in supernatant may have an effect on inducing cell death in macrophages. In our study, the supernatant did not affect the production of TNF alfa, IL-12, IL-10 or IL-6 by macrophages. A time lapse video was created to show physical interactions of macro-phages and invasive cell. All obtained results show that there are interactions between the cancer cells and immune system cells that have not yet been discovered.

Smrt v mediálním diskurzu: případ zmizelého letadla Malaysia Airlines / Death in the media discourse: the case of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane

Brezík, František January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis "Death in media discourse: the case of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane" inquires into the case of the disappeared flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The flight has been mapped in Czech press as well as online newspapers from the perspective of death based on a subjectively composed qualitative method of grounded theory and discourse analysis. In the unprecedented tragical event, death is being constructed in a specific way in the context of media discourse. Hence, the allegoric character of epistemology and constructivist paradigm plays an important role here. The theoretic reflection describes the context of the relation between media and the topic of death. The abundance of topics in media associated with death is considered a symptom of a particular demand from society. The media increase the general tolerance towards images of death and violence, thus impacting character of such displays. In the reflection of the mental background, the character of perceiving death in a secularised society is denoted as metaphorical. In the research part of the thesis, discursive patterns are introduced. From them, we may understand what values associated with death are socially important and in what way does death appear and construct itself in the media. What is important here...
