Skievvá Spa / Skievvá Spa

Hansen Sjölander, Stéphanie January 2013 (has links)
Skievvá spa, an opportunity to discover and take part of the peculiar landscape in one of the most beautiful fjords in Northern Norway, Skjomenfjorden (Narvik). An opportunity to discover the “real” Narvik. An architecture that reinforces the impressions and the sensations in the landscape on different scales. Here the bath is the central space. A spa, a landscape hotel and a trekking station. The complex scale of nature is intensified through the large scale framing architecture. The unique and custom site with its program strengthens the tourism industry and attract more visitors to the North Norwegian mountains.ountains and Narvik.I have always been fascinated by the tremendous and dramatic scenographic landscape of northern Norway. This is where I have my roots. I visit Narvik and Skjomen(Skievvá) every year since have family here, and also I’m addicted of the sensational nature and the purifying boost and revitalisation it gives you. I want more people to visit and explore this treasure. The scenery and outlooks in different scales have been an important part of my process. The buildings have framings and windows to frame and enhence the beautiful  scenery and elements in the environment. In an open complex landscape like this, the relationship between volumes is very important, spacing and proportions. An architecture that blends in with the surrounding and competes with it at the same time. I wanted to give the landscape, the mountain, a scale. The project is largely about architectural elements meeting the scenery and terrain and how to encounter the landscape. But just as much about  how the architecture affects and enables one to take advantage of this incredible landscape.

Městské lázně / The Municipal Baths

Slezák, Filip January 2010 (has links)
The term spa is associated with water treatment which is also known as balneotherapy. Spa towns or spa resorts (including hot springs resorts) typically offer thermal or mineral water for drinking and bathing. They also offer various health treatments. The belief in the curative powers of mineral waters goes back to prehistoric times. Such practices have been popular worldwide, but are especially widespread in Europe and Japan. Day spas are also quite popular, and offer various personal care treatments.

Termální lázně Yverdon, pět smyslů v architektuře / Thermal baths Yverdon, five senses in architecture

Kočí, Tereza January 2015 (has links)
Spa areal in Yverdon is a peculiar green isle in the context of the town, which is surrounded by a build-up area, so it is the part of the town in the same time. So I decided to propose the spa in more than one object to create a piece of the town - but lying in the park, which can bring diverse situations to the place and enrich the park not just for the users of the spa itself. There are three basic parts of the spa project content - so that three houses. Public spa with wellness, therapeutic spa and the hotel. There is large water face interconnecting the spa houses and a big hard surface as the counter balance of the water. In the design of the space arrangement my aim was to propose simple spaces with easy orientation within. Frequent motiv is the contrast of the opened and enclosed or the view-throughs into the further spaces.

Myrö Gård Spa / Myrö Gård Spa

Alp, Melissa Maria January 2018 (has links)
In a time where the cities get more crowded, this project had an aim to introduce a space free from everyday stress. The goal was to create a public space for recreation, health and experience, and the result was a spa. The spa is located in Örebro, a medium-sized city where this concept is lacking. The site is Myrö gård, a characteristic plot with high natural values and historical surroundings. Specific for Myrö is its castle, woods, recreation areas, wetlands, landscape of common reeds and the lake Hjälmaren. All these parts are taken in the spa experience, which consists of a fragmented journey with different sequences of movement throughout the site. The spa is built in wood and is a type of a thermal bath, which is placed on the wetlands near the lake. The program consists of fragmented volumes connected by duckboards and bridges. As an addition to the spa, there is an orangery where food and drinks are served. In between the volumes, the important characteristics of the site are picked up, for example, the reed, the stone blocks or the trees. Each movement between the different rooms is planned to not miss the details of nature.

An Investigation of Differential Power Analysis Attacks on FPGA-based Encryption Systems

McDaniel, Larry T. III 22 July 2003 (has links)
Hardware devices implementing cryptographic algorithms are finding their way into many applications. As this happens, the ability to keep the data being processed or stored on the device secure grows more important. Power analysis attacks involve cryptographic hardware leaking information during encryption because power consumption is correlated to the key used for encryption. Power analysis attacks have proven successful against public and private key cryptosystems in a variety of form factors. The majority of the countermeasures that have been proposed for this attack are intended for software implementations on a microcontroller. This project focuses on the development of a VHDL tool for investigating power analysis attacks on FPGAs and exploring countermeasures that might be used. The tool developed here counted the transitions of CLB output signals to estimate power and was used to explore the impact of possible gate-level countermeasures to differential power analysis. Using this tool, it was found that only a few nodes in the circuit have a high correlation to bits of the key. This means that modifying only a small portion of the circuit could dramatically increase the difficulty of mounting a differential power analysis attack on the hardware. Further investigation of the correlation between CLB outputs and the key showed that a tradeoff exists between the amount of space required for decorrelation versus the amount of decorrelation that is desired, allowing a designer to determine the amount of correlation that can be removed for available space. Filtering of glitches on CLB output signals slightly reduced the amount of correlation each CLB had. Finally, a decorrelation circuit was proposed and shown capable of decorrelating flip-flop outputs of a CLB, which account for less than 10% of the CLB outputs signals. / Master of Science
