Knallskott. Böter. Förlust 3-0. : En bildanalys av medierapporteringen efter läktarincidenten i fotbollsmatchen mellan Syrianska och AIK 2011. / Bangers. Fines. Defeat 3-0. : An image analysis of the media reports after the incidents on the terraces during the football match between Syrianska and AIK 2011.Ekström, Niclas, Nordholm, Jack January 2012 (has links)
In the 2011th Swedish football league three games were suspended because ofbangers that exploded on the terraces. The first suspended match was played by Syrianska and AIK. We have performed an image analysis of two of Sweden’s biggest newspapers, Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter, to see how they reported fromthat incident. The reports from the first incident are important because the mediareporting from the first incident might have determined the attitude of the press and the Swedish football association (SvFF) towards the supporters for the remainder of the season. We have analyzed all the articles with photographs in these newspapers sports section the first, the second and the third day after the incident. We have usedimage analysis as the method for our work, which include analyzing the context likethe title of the articles, opening paragraph and the image text. We found that the reporting from this incident was very similar to what socialscientist Johan Galtung refers as war journalism. The reports were not trying to find solutions instead it intended to point fingers at the persons who they thought was guilty of the incident - sheep goats. It also focused on the conflict and the fight. The reports from the incident were dramatic, and especially in Aftonbladet, which dramatized it with big headlines in capital letters. In both newspapers the supporters were marginalized. Not a single supporter was interviewed in Aftonbladet or DagensNyheter. Our conclusion is that there is a tendency in sports journalism where metaphors andidentities which emphasize conflict and violence return more frequently.

Sportovní novinář a jeho společenská úloha: srovnávací analýza / The sports journalist and his social role: comparative perspectiveMLS, Martin January 2010 (has links)
The subject of the theses is sports journalism, the part of Czech media sphere slightly neglected by academics. The main focus is on Czech sports journalists (without consideration of their specific professional interest) and their social role. This paper has sociological character and its goal is to compare Czech sports journalism in two periods - during the period of ´propagandistic-promotion role´ of media defined politically (primarily by Communist Party) before 1989 and during contemporary period of commercialized and entertaining media - and to compare these two periods. The text can be understood as a contribution to the role of media within the framework of out-of-school education. Theses also contains the analysis of sports journalists role before 1989 and today: only aspect of sports journalists business which did not changed during last twenty years is the essence of their profession. One of two main methods used in this paper is qualitative analysis of questionnaires collected in an email survey: we could compare working conditions and profession opinions of five regional sports journalists. The text also offers professional portraits of respondents which are based the interpretation of their answers. These answers were interpreted by the author from the comparative perspective. Findings and conclusions were used for developing the typology of sports journalists which contains five genuine types of sports journalists. All types are described from several angles and to each type one respondent of our research is allocated as a representative. At the end, author offers critical evaluation of the typology and possibilities of future work on the topic of sports journalism.

Adventure sport, media and social/cultural changePuchan, Heike January 2013 (has links)
The turn of the millennium has heralded an explosion in the popularity of adventure sports often also referred to as alternative lifestyle sports or extreme sports. These are offering both new avenues and potential challenges to the traditional ways of conceptualising and practicing sport. This thesis analyses the development of adventure sports, in particular climbing and kayaking, as a subculture. It delivers a socio-economic history of climbing, analyses the role of the media in its development, its participation and its lived experience. Further it investigates the impact of globalisation, commercialisation and consumerism on adventure sports, and considers to what extent they are being brought into the mainstream as a result. The economic impact of participation in adventure sports is reviewed along with a study of how the make up of its participants has changed as the activities have become more accessible. Particular focus is placed on the analysis of the gender order, specifically looking at the experiences of women in adventure sports. For this purpose the sports culture found in climbing and kayaking is examined and the implications for the reconstruction of gender relations are considered. This study employs an ethnographic approach including both semi-structured and structured interviews with both adventure sports experts and participants, document and media analysis, participant observation and the more recent nethnography approach. One of the significant contributions of this thesis has been to provide a comprehensive review and analysis of the social, cultural and media environment of arguably one of the most popular lifestyle sports in the UK. It has also shown the strong interrelationship that exists between the media and adventure sports, and has demonstrated how the increased commercialisation and commodification of the activity has resulted in economic development particularly in some remoter parts of the UK through the packaging and provision of the climbing experience. At the same time some participants see this is ‘selling out’. This research has demonstrated how women’s participation in adventure sports has been subject to marginalisation, sexualisation and trivialisation similar to other mainstream sports. However, this work has also highlighted that there is room for optimism as new discourses of femininity contrary to the traditional male hegemony are emerging. Further research opportunities have been identified concerning issues of ethnicity and participation; the social, cultural and economic relationships between adventure sportspeople and rural communities. Emerging feminist discourses also warrant further investigation.

CROSSCHECKING ELLER MISSHANDEL? : En kritisk diskursanalys av kvällstidningars framställande av brott på ishockeyplanen. / Cross-checking or abuse? : A critical discourse analysis of tabloids framing of crime in ice hockey.Larsson, Olle, Kågström, Rasmus January 2019 (has links)
Ice hockey is seen as a rough sport. Sometimes situations tend to become too violent and players now and then get suspended for their acts on the ice. In very unusual cases the legal system has been forced to step in and prosecute players for situations on the ice. This is the case with Jakob Lilja. The purpose of this essay is therefore to seek answers on how two Swedish tabloids have framed Lilja and how the news coverage has changed during this time. The theory used in the study makes it possible to highlight how Lilja has been framed in the tabloids and it also gives the study the opportunity to further explain how Lilja has been portrayed. The scientific method used in this study has been a critical discourse analysis to be able to study the 43 articles included in the analysis in a qualitative manner. The study shows that the news coverage from the case has changed during the course of the time. The early coverage shows the framing of Lilja as an ice hockey player while the latter coverage more frame him as a criminal. But there are differences. The different tabloids have framed the case in different ways and the study shows that one of them has framed Lilja more than the other.
