Previous issue date: 2018-07-26 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The steam navigation in the Amazon was a subject much discussed since the beginning of the 19th century. However, this navigation was only effected in 1853, by means of a contract with the Navigation and Commerce Company of Amazonas, under the direction of Irineu Evangelista de Souza, the Baron of Mauá. This company served for eighteen years, sailing from one extreme to another in the region (from Belém, in Pará, to Nauta, in Peru). In addition to the navigation activity, this company also carried out the activity of colonization, another important theme in the nineteenth century. This research aims to understand the Company of Amazonas as a commercial enterprise, part of a political and economic project, and reconstitute its activities, outlining its operation in the region. / A navegação a vapor na Amazônia foi um tema bastante discutido desde o início do século
XIX. No entanto, essa navegação só foi efetivada em 1853, por meio de um contrato com a
Companhia de Navegação e Comércio do Amazonas, sob a direção de Irineu Evangelista de
Souza, o Barão de Mauá. Essa empresa atuou por dezoito anos, navegando de um extremo ao
outro da região (de Belém, no Pará, a Nauta, no Peru). Além da atividade de navegação, esta
empresa também realizou a atividade de colonização, outra importante temática no século
XIX. Esta pesquisa tem como foco compreender a Companhia do Amazonas enquanto um
empreendimento comercial, parte de um projeto político e econômico, e reconstituir suas

The diploma thesis deals with preliminary design of condensing steam turbine with three unregulated steam outputs and its gland steam system particularly its description and design. The steam parameters in key outputs were determined in heat balance. The gland steam system parameters were calculated for different operating conditions. It also describes influence of pressure on performance of turbine in gland steam system. Finally, the inquiry sheet for gland steam system device was created based on calculated values.

The aim of this diploma thesis is a design and thermodynamical calculation of a steam condensing turbine with one controlled steam extraction and assigned technical specifications. Technical specifications are turbine inlet temperature 440,0 °C, pressure of inlet steam 38,0 bar(a), pressure in controlled steam extraction 13,0 bar(a), mass flow rate of steam in controlled steam exraction 0,0-40 t/h, temperature in deaerator 105,0 °C and temperature of cooling water in condenser 25,0 °C. Designed steam turbine works in a Rankine-Clausius cycle with a water-cooled condenser, system of low-pressure feed water heater, feed water tank with deaerator and steam boiler. Turbine was designed with regular turbine stages with reaction type of blading and with two regulation stages with impulse blading. An extraction turbine map of the steam turbine is shown in the last chapter of this work. Final parameters of steam turbine are power of 21,7 kW, internal efficiency of turbine 85,1 % and reheat factor 1,048.

Diploma thesis deals with the design of a condensing steam turbine with one controlled steam extraction. Its working range is 0 to 10 t/h. The first part contains the design of the heat balance scheme. The turbine has two unregulated steam extractions for low-pressure feedwater heater and outlet steam is cooled by water condenser. The main part is the design of the turbine flow channel with one regulative stage using impulse blading and 26 regular stages using reaction blading. The turbine rotating speed is 8500 rpm, which is strength suitable even in critical points. The following chapters are describing the design of the compensation piston and bearings. The consumption characteristic of the steam turbine is shown in the last chapter. Drawing of the turbine section is attached to this thesis. Final turbine power is 9259,7 kW and thermodynamic efficiency 85,5 %.

This master’s thesis deals with utilization of biomass for micro cogeneration. The theoretical part of the master’s thesis defines main terms of the master’s thesis, which is biomass and cogeneration. The practical part of the master’s thesis is focused on the design and manufacturing of small micro cogeneration unit based on a small membrane steam engine. It means design of two steam generators to produce steam for the membrane steam engine. It will be also carried out design and production of membrane steam engine which is fitted with a small BLDC generator including electrical part for power output and measuring parameters. It will be made several measurements with the steam engine including measuring power output characteristic of the steam engine and measuring loading characteristics of the generator.

Thesis contains comparision of obtained results with a results provided by contracting company. Final part of thesis deals with a design of sectional shape of a turbine blade.

The thesis deals with a project of a steam generator heated with liquid sodium. The first section describes some types of steam generators at nuclear power plants which have been projected or put into use. The next part presents a draft concept of the steam generator, solved by this work. The implementation of the steam generator module has been selected from several options, based on the thermal, hydraulic and stress calculations and on the chosen criteria. The conclusion of this thesis deals with the evaluation of the final solution in terms of nuclear safety and technical solutions, and compares this solution to similar projects following various criteria.
