Upplevelse av stigma inom vården utifrån personer med psykisk ohälsa : En litteraturöversikt / Experience of stigma in health care from people with mental ill health : A literature review

Andersson, Isac, Johansson, Karl January 2018 (has links)
Background: Mental ill health is a widespread phenomenon. There is in spite of this still a stigma around the people affected that takes form of negative notions about this group. Stigmatizing attitudes exist both in society as a whole and in health care and may result in negative outcomes for the people affected by them. This is not in line with the commitment of health care where everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. Aim: To describe how people with mental ill health experience stigma in healthcare. Method: The study is a literature review with a qualitative design and an inductive approach. The result is based on nine scientific papers which were examined by quality through a protocol made by Hälsohögskolan in Jönköping and analysed with Friberg’s model of analysis. Results: Stereotypization and insufficient care are the general themes of the study. These themes includes the subthemes experiences of being considered incompetent, experiences of social labelling, experiences of insufficient interaction, experiences of not being perceived as a whole person and experiences of offensive treatment. Conclusions: The occurrence of patients having mental ill health may affect the relationship between caregivers and the patients in a negative manner. The stigma may create barriers between patients and caregiver and may result in suffering for the patients. The caregivers should see the person behind the illness.

Analýza reprezentace sebevražd a sebepoškozování v populární kultuře v letech 1999-2019 / The Analysis of Representation of Suicide and Self-Mutilation in Popular Culture in Years 1999-2019

Nainová, Victoria January 2020 (has links)
The master thesis is focusing on the representation of suicides and self-mutilation in American production movies and television in the year 1999-2019. The thesis aims to find out, how are these phenomena shown and with whom popular culture connects them. The theoretical part is dealing with social and media construction of reality, stereotype, stigmatization, and clearing the concepts and definitions of phenomena. For better understanding this part also includes a short presentation of socially deviant behavior since examined phenomena are part of it. The analysis was made based on qualitative content analysis and completed with short quantitative analysis for sociodemographic comparison with available real data. The sample contains 23 motion pictures as are films and series. Based on them and with processes of grounded theory the coding was done, typology was made and pointed out findings with whom American production connects these phenomena and how they represent them in popular culture. Those findings are important for their relations to media construction of reality as non-experts can perceive the way it is represented for their own.

Trendy české televizní cestopisné publicistiky v letech 2010 - 2020 / Trends in Czech TV Travel Series Between the Years 2010 - 2020

Kordík, Jiří January 2021 (has links)
The Trends in Czech TV Travel Series Between the Years 2010-2020 diploma thesis outlines the typology and main trends in travel series that premiered on Czech public broadcast television channels between 2010 and 2020. The aim of this thesis is to introduce categories of Czech TV travel series and describe how the viewer is addressed. In the theoretical section, the terms such as TV travel journalism and the issue of celebritization and celebrification are defined. By introducing the concept of the Tourist Gaze, the problematic aspects of TV travel series are defined, be it the stereotypization of a displayed environment or the commercialization of its content. Following the methodology section, the thematical classification of Czech TV travel series is presented. In turn, the main part of the thesis focuses on establishing five typological categories of the travel series. After analysing several randomly selected episodes of the programmes, the thesis then sums up the most important peculiarities of Czech public broadcast production of travel series between the years 2010-2020 and identifies the most crucial development trends within the genre.

Gender a média v éře postmodernity: Odkrývání genderových stereotypů v současném českém reklamním diskurzu / Gender and Media in the Age of Post-Modernity: Revealing Gender Stereotypes in the Contemporary Czech Advertising Discourse

Olbertová, Martina January 2011 (has links)
ENGLISH SUMMARY The main objective of this thesis was to provide a complex perspective on the mutual relationship of gender and media in the age of post-modernity with a special attention to the stereotypical gender portrayal presented to us by the contemporary Czech advertising discourse. We chose to demonstrate this problematics through the methods of semiotic analysis on the analytical sample of 5 advertisements (consisting of selected TV commercials) representing various aspects of stereotypical gender images appearing in the today's Czech advertising contents. We then subjected these selected advertisements to the analytical methods in pursuit of finding the answers to the questions related to the media image of men, women and our society that the stereotypical gender depictions contained in these advertisements help to construct. Although many of these advertisements appear to be openly sexist or even misogynic on the first sight, using the mechanisms of semiotic analysis we came to a rather opposite conclusion proposing the analyzed contents are rather pro-feminine tending toward an extensive masculine critique. This result, however, is based mainly on the mechanisms of oppositional reading of the subjected texts. On the other hand, it is presumable that the "average media consumer" not having access...
