Cargas espaciais e efeito de água dissociada em filmes de poli (fluoreto de vinilideno). / Effects of space charge and water dissociate in films of poli(fluoreto de vinilideno).

Nogueira, Jose de Souza 17 July 1991 (has links)
Thermally stimulated current and depolarization measurements were carried on commercially available samples of PVDF. The measurements were conducted under constant temperature and constant applied field in order to investigate an anomolous peak which appears in isothermal measurements, and also identify the presence of space charge. This peak is observed only in the first measurements, but it can recover if the sample is stored in a humid environment. Series of measurements was carried out with carefully controlled relative humidity from which one can conclude that the peak is directly linked to water absorved by the sample. This effect is shown to depend strongly on the applied electric field. A theoretical model based on ionic dissociation of water molecules - probably weakly attached to the polymer structure is developed to explain the experimental results. In the model, the dissociation coefficient and the time of escape of dissociated carriers are assumed to depend on the electric field. Bi-ionic recombination is also assumed to play an important role in the control of the kinetics of the process.

”Överskott, är det ämnet som får stå i hörnet och vänta” En studie på hur lärarens intentioner uppfattas av eleverna.

Johansson, Kim January 2012 (has links)

Non-thermal Interactions on Low Temperature Ice and Aqueous Interfaces

Captain, Janine Elizabeth 06 April 2005 (has links)
Electron-impact ionization of low-temperature water ice leads to H+, H2+, and H+(H2O)n=1-8 desorption. The threshold energy for ESD of H2+ from CI and H3O+ from PASW and ASW is 22 ± 3 eV. There is also a H2+ yield increase at 40 ± 3 eV and a 70 ± 3 eV threshold for ESD of H+(H2O)n=2-8 from PASW and ASW. H2+ production and desorption involves direct molecular elimination and reactive scattering of an energetic proton. Both of these channels likely involve localized two-hole one-electron and/or two-hole final states containing 4a1, 3a1 and/or 2a1 character. The 70 eV cluster ion threshold implicates either an initial (2a1-2) state localized on a monomer or the presence of at least two neighboring water molecules each containing a single hole. The resulting correlated two-hole or two-hole, one-electron configurations are localized within a complex and result in an intermolecular Coulomb repulsion and cluster ion ejection. The changes in the yields with phase and temperature are associated with structural and physical changes in the adsorbed water and longer lifetimes of excited state configurations containing a1 character. The dependence of the ESD cation yields on the local potential has been utilized to examine the details of HCl interactions on low temperature ice surfaces. The addition of HCl increases cluster ion yields from pure ice while decreasing H+ and H2+ yields. These changes reflect the changes in the local electronic potential due to the changing bond lengths at the surface of the ice as HCl ionizes and the surrounding water molecules reorient to solvate the ions. This work has been extended to ionic solutions at higher temperatures using a liquid jet and ultraviolet photoionization to interrogate the surface of aqueous ionic interfaces. Desorption of protonated water clusters and solvated sodium ion clusters were measured over a range of concentrations from NaCl, NaBr, and NaI solutions. The flux dependence indicated a multiple photon process and the proposed mechanism involves a Coulomb explosion resulting from the repulsion of nearby ions. The surface is investigated with regard to its importance in heterogeneous atmospheric chemistry.

The First Hyperpolarizability of Charge-Transfer Molecules Stuidied by Hyper-Rayleigh Scattering

Tai, Yung-Hui 26 July 2000 (has links)
Abstract The first hyperpolarizability(£]) of five charge-transfer molecules are determined using the hyper-Rayleigh scattering (HRS) technique at two excitation wavelengths : 1064nm and 1907nm. The 1064nm excitation wavelength is derived from a Nd: YAG pulsed laser, and the 1907nm excitation wavelength is obtained by shifting the 1064nm laser light by stimulated Raman scattering of pressurized H2 gas. Four of the five samples contains thiophene and thiazole are synthetized by Prof. Shu Ching-Fong at the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) and the other sample is synthetized by Prof. Hong, Jin-Long at the National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU). The measured £] values are used to calculate the intrinsic molecular hyperpolarizabilities using the two-level model previously developed by Oudar and Chemla. The results are related to molecular structure.

An examination of the impact of introducing greater contextual interference during practice on learning to golf putt

Hwang, Gyu-Young 17 February 2005 (has links)
The skill of putting in golf contributes approximately 40 percent to one’s total score making it an important skill to master in golf. One of the critical means of improving putting skill is through practice. The purpose of this study was to: (a) investigate if different practice schedules with different degrees of contextual interference (CI) influenced the participants’ immediate and long-term putting performance, (b) examine if performance changes were associated with concomitant changes in specific kinematic parameters, and (c) assess the cognitions of the participants during various stages of the practice of the putting skill. Twenty-four undergraduate students were randomly assigned to either a blocked or random practice schedule. On Day One each participant practiced putting to three targets (4 ft, 8 ft, and 12 ft distance) for a total of 108 trials (36 trials to each target). On Day Two 30 trials of retention (10 trials to each target) and 10 transfer trials (10 ft distance) were performed. To obtain a kinematic description of the putting action, an OPTOTRAKTM 3020 camera system recorded the 3D movement of the putter. Participants’ cognitions were analyzed from stimulated recall interview data. Random practice participants exhibited poorer putting performance during acquisition compared to their blocked practice counterparts but showed superior performance in retention and transfer tests. While the blocked practice participants had significantly lower variability in the amplitude in the x-dimension for backswing, impact velocity, and putter position at impact (z-dimension) during practice, the random practice participants showed significantly lower variability in the amplitude of the x-dimension for the backswing and downswing, impact velocity, and putter position at impact during the retention and transfer phases. Content analysis of interview data yielded three emergent categories: participant focus, self-evaluation of performance, and benefits of practice. The participants provided evidence of active thought processes during the putting task while receiving little instruction. The blocked group focused more on accuracy while the random group was more focused on judging distance. The lack of recognition about the z-dimension has potential implications for how instruction and feedback might be employed during the learning process.

OSL dating of sediment and climate change of late quaternary

余耀良, Yieu, Yiu-leung January 2013 (has links)
The objective of this project is to apply the Optical Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) technique to date the palaeo sediment from Mu Us Desert, part of the Inner Mongolia in northern China and reconstruct the palaeo environment. Five OSL samples were collected from Dagouwan, Salawusu River Valley at Inner Mongolia by Dr S. H. Li and his team in 2009. Extraction of 150μm to 180μm silt-size feldspar from collected dune sand, lacustrine facies and fluvial facies samples and running of luminescence dating therefore to obtain the age from 50ka to 90ka. Climate proxies - magnetic susceptibility, grain size, fossil vertebrates and fossil pollens have been analyzed and it is concluded that significant climate change occurred within this period, which change from domination of warm, humid and rainy summer monsoons (before 70ka) to cold, wind, windy strengthened dry winter wind and back to warm and humid again after 55ka. / published_or_final_version / Applied Geosciences / Master / Master of Science
