L'acte de lecture structuraliste : déploiement de quelques variables

Chénard, Martin 27 February 2021 (has links)

Perfektní simulace ve stochastické geometrii / Perfect simulation in stochastic geometry

Sadil, Antonín January 2010 (has links)
Perfect simulations are methods, which convert suitable Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms into algorithms which return exact draws from the target distribution, instead of approximations based on long-time convergence to equilibrium. In recent years a lot of various perfect simulation algorithms were developed. This work provides a unified exposition of some perfect simulation algorithms with applications to spatial point processes, especially to the Strauss process and area-interaction process. Described algorithms and their properties are compared theoretically and also by a simulation study.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Sandra Maria Luvizutto Goncalves.pdf: 2384106 bytes, checksum: 775541195573dedce8167614b7ef287a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-03-17 / The objective of this paper is to develop a comparison study between cultural and artistic experiences narrated by the poet Mário Raul de Moraes Andrade in O turista aprendiz (2002) and Tristes trópicos (1996) by the French anthropologist and writer Claude Lévi-Strauss. The impressions captured by them while visiting the Amazon region are our study and demonstration objects, sustained by the concepts of alterity, based on the exotic eye and the encounter with the Other . The central objective is in the reading and analysis of the travel reports, which confirmed the experience lived by the writers, showing that both of them trespassed the physical geography of visited places and, literarily, reconfigured it by means of artistic and poetic subjectivity in order to be able to unveil the new mythical matrixes of the Brazilian Amazon. The themes are distributed as follows: chapter 1 presents the exotic and the complexity in the distinction between reality and fiction in the travel reports, in light of practical alterity. Chapter 2 approaches the differences and contrasts between two foreigners and the Other , facing the reality observed. Chapter 3 reveals the encounter with the Other , the unknown, which resulted in a fictional transgeography . The theoretical parameters of support were based on the work by: Antonio Candido (1976), François Dosse (1993), Txyetan Todorov (1993), Julia Kristeva (1994), Telê Ancona Lopez (1996), Mikhail Bakhtin (2003), Emmanuel Lévinas (2005), among other authors. We prioritized the comparatist method of direct observation of the object on a fictional travel report, thus opening an equity relation in receiving the Other in its anonymity and, consequently, creating a rupture with the absolute thinking of science.

Dubowy, Norbert 29 October 2020 (has links)
A digital music edition that follows the principles implemented in the fully-digital, MEI-coded Digital Interactive Mozart Edition, pursued by the Mozarteum Foundation and the Packard Humanities Institute, has many advantages over conventional analog editions. One advantage is greater transparency, which is achieved not only at the level of the material, e. g. the inclusion of digital images of the sources, but above all by making editorial processes and decisions visible in the edition itself. In the digital edition, the Critical Report, a defining component of any critical edition and often physically separate from the edited musical text, becomes part of the overall digital code. The philological findings and editorial processes reported encompass the entire range of forms of expression, from verbal comments and annotations to pure code and non-verbal, largely visual communication strategies. Therefore, the format of the traditional printed Critical Report, which is mainly made up of text and tables, dissolves and is replaced by an immaterial, non-delimitable field of data, information, references and media for which the term Critical Documentation is more appropriate.

The Science of Liberalism: A Genealogy of Political Theory

Feldman, Nathan Hillel January 2024 (has links)
This dissertation offers a genealogy of political theory as a subfield of American political science. Over five chapters, it traces the subfield’s development from late nineteenth-century America until the 1970s and asks how leading practitioners responded to a series of political conjunctions. The first chapter asks how political theory emerged from the progressive movement and was characterized by a racist, “Teutonist” intellectual framework that lasted until the First World War. The war led to the demise of this initial framework, leaving political theory without an anchor. The second chapter asks how a leading political theorist, Charles Merriam, sought to resuscitate political theory by making it more “scientific,” focusing on analyzing political behavior. This chapter demonstrates how interaction with the city of Chicago forced Merriam’s thought into more egalitarian directions. The third chapter charts political theory in “the age of fear.” It shows how Merriam and his student Harold Lasswell sought to thicken liberalism and conceptualize its totalitarian alternatives. The fourth chapter asks how leading behavioralists—including Gabriel Almond, Robert Dahl, and David Truman, as well as Louis Hartz—deployed political theory to characterize, congratulate, and criticize the tenets of American liberalism in the context of the Cold War. In the project’s final chapter, I ask how political theory went its own way as a subfield. Amidst the tumult of the 1960s, its leading practitioners—including Sheldon Wolin and Leo Strauss—found themselves politically at odds with behavioralism. Their opposition to the practice of political science led them to associate humanism with radical political critique. By offering a history of political theory that puts behavioralism at its center, the dissertation unsettles conventional narratives within political science that characterize political theory as the other of “empirical social science.” Second, by highlighting a tradition of thought that married systematic empiricism and normative intent, the dissertation critically recaptures a realistic mode of political theorizing. Raymond Geuss has called for political theory to engage more with the facts of the political world. My dissertation offers a way forward. It reminds readers that empiricism can be a normative venture and highlights the close affinity between political science and theory. Many political scientists, I argue, were engaged in a project we can term “operational political theory.” They took theoretic concepts—such as democracy—and furnished them with empirical evidence. They asked how political theory worked in practice and then evaluated extant practices according to political theoretic norms.

Analysis of the Existing Fashion Retail Concepts and its Coming Trends / Analýza oděvního a textilního průmyslu a předpověď nových trendů a modelů pro více udržitelný, ekologický a etický výrobní proces.

Hoang Vinh, Hien January 2011 (has links)
The increase of trading has created many environmental, ecological, social and ethical problems. The main concern across all industries is to create more sustainable, eco-friendly and ethical manufacturing processes. Only by influence consumer's purchasing behavior there might be the demand for eco-green products. The fashion and textile industry as one of the main contributor to the world's economy is one of the main environmental polluter (e.g.: soil, lakes, river and air). Recently, many young fashion designers started to offer eco-green fashion to the market. This new phenomenon might change the course of the world fashion industry. The goal of this research is to find out the real demand for eco-green products and its impacts on the traditional methods of fashion manufacturing. Three geographical areas where chosen to represent consumption side (US and EU (UK)) and manufacturing side (China). The specific fashion garment was chosen to demonstrate detailed analysis of the manufacturing processes and its new eco-green formula -- the denim jeans. The primary and secondary research approaches were chosen to cover the whole industrial view on this phenomenon. The outcome of the research showed that the major impact was on the general consumer's purchasing behavior and their life style. It is a new trend and concept that is reshaping the traditional fashion business models. Denim jeans industry leaders such as Levi's Strauss are in process of implementing eco-green, ethical and fair-trade factors into their long-term strategy.
