Pawlowski, Nell January 2018 (has links)
Does the simple act of reading a children’s book enable children to deve lop their language skills? This is the question we pose in our thesis. Our goal is to analyse the texts in the books about Little Brown Bear (Petit Ours Brun in French), who is a favourite among small children, and to observe whether certain terms, like Little Brown Bear, are repeated, as well as terms that form part of the book titles. To achieve this goal, we analysed the texts in the books about Little Brown Bear and the syntactical place of the most frequently used terms. Our results partially validate our hypothesis. In addition, we studied the types of verbs (state or action) and the verbal tenses that are most often used in the texts. Our goal is to examine whether the character of Little Brown Bear is one of action or state, and to see whether the verb tenses used correspond to the language level of a 3-year-old child. Our results show that Little Brown Bear is indeed a character of action, despite our observing a more frequent repetition of state verbs. However, the most often used tense is the present and as such does not meet the level of grammar that a 3-year-old child can use and understand.

Business model innovation : A case study on what the challenges and oppurtunities are for a consulting company's business model / Affärsmodellsinnovation : En fallstudie på vad utmaningarna och möjligheterna är för ett konsultföretags affärsmodell

Schmidt, Marcus January 2018 (has links)
With technologies changing faster than ever the need to change business models is getting more and more important. However, it is not as easy as one might think for a company to change their business model. A lot of companies believe they need to change their business models but very few has been able to do so. In order to find out why companies have such a problem this master thesis attempts to answer the question of how consulting companies understand their own business models and business model innovation. By combining a literature review with interviewing both employees at a consulting company and their customers the author presents existing business models with the help of business model canvas as a framework in order to show what parts of a business model that a consulting company focuses on. Other than presenting the findings on the consulting company’s existing business model a totally new business model is also created. The insurance model is a new way for consulting companies to raise their value proposition in order to gain more revenue streams. This master thesis also finds out that one of the main problems for a consulting company when it comes to understanding its own business model is the fact that the company hierarchy creates a diversion between the cognitive aspectsand the material aspects in the business model and a lot of innovative ideas goes missing. The thesis also finds that the main focus is on value proposition and revenue streams and that the other parts of the business model is ending up in the shadow.

Rehn, Erik January 2018 (has links)

Professionalism och New Public Management i Försvarsmakten : En kvalitativ studie vid Skaraborgs Regemente / Professionalism and New Public Management in the Swedish Armed Forces : A Qualitative Study at Skaraborgs Regiment

Midbrandt, Lars-Erik, Hurri, Per January 2018 (has links)
Sweden's public administration underwent a large number of changes during the 1980s, which can be summarized in part under the concept of New Public Management (NPM). NPM has many influences from how private companies and businesses govern their organizations. Within the Swedish Armed Forces, in the beging of the twentiefirst century, two major changes in organization and working methods lead to a changed work situation for officers. Eliot Freidson (2001) describes in his book Professionalism the Third Logic how a profession is influenced by modern governance like NPM. He believes that the management of the profession risks being shifted from professionalism to bureaucracy and market. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the daily work of officers is influenced by NPM, in order to test Freidson's theory. The questions answered in the study are: Which ideal type is the dominant norm for the Swedish Armed Force's publication Vår militära profession, and what type of logic is dominant in everyday life for officers at Skaraborgs Regemente.Theories about NPM and professions are used as the theoretical frame of reference in the study. To answer the research questions, a qualitative approach is used and six semistructured informant interviews have been conducted in combination with a text analysis of the publication Vår militära profession. The result of the study indicates a difference between norm and everyday life. This difference can be partly explained by mechanisms from NPM. The mechanisms of NPM, which have the most influence at Skaraborg's Regemente are cost awareness, decentralization, efficiency and performance measurement. The everyday life for a officer seems to be characterized by a large amount of administration that is not directly linked to what the Swedish Armed Forces defines as core business. As a result, officers find that they no longer have the same opportunity to support and lead subordinates in the core business.
