Fence surveillance with convolutional neural networks

Jönsson, Jonatan, Stenbäck, Felix January 2018 (has links)
Broken fences is a big security risk for any facility or area with strict security standards. In this report we suggest a machine learning approach to automate the surveillance for chain-linked fences. The main challenge is to classify broken and non-broken fences with the help of a convolution neural network. Gathering data for this task is done by hand and the dataset is about 127 videos at 26 minutes length total on 23 different locations. The model and dataset are tested on three performances traits, scaling, augmentation improvement and false rate. In these tests we concluded that nearest neighbor increased accuracy. Classifying with fences that has been included in the training data a false rate that was low, about 1%. Classifying with fences that are unknown to the model produced a false rate of about 90%. With these results we concludes that this method and dataset is useful under the right circumstances but not in an unknown environment.

Normas e conflitos: a efetivação do mercado de trabalho na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, 1888-1920 / Norms and Conflicts: the effectuation of labour market in the city of Rio de Janeiro (1888-1920)

Lima, Jeansley 04 November 2016 (has links)
The study on formation of capitalism in Brazil comprehend different approaches in its historical process and of society organisation. This research offers an interpretation of this phenomenon and it has as its special concern the effectuation of the labour market. It proposes to exam the initiatives of labour work controlling through state action: to identify the correlation between struggles and demands from industrial labour movement and the legislative agenda around regulation and addition of social rights; and to understand the workers behaviour who sought, through judicial actions, the reposition of rights they alleged had being supressed. The documental sources accessed comprehend newspapers advertisements, the register book of admission from Casa de Detenção (Detention House) of Rio de Janeiro, the legislative bills that proposes work regulation and criminal processes involving employers and employees. It came to a conclusion that the fixation of work market in Brazil pos-1888 preserves parameters similar to urban slavery occupational structure, regardless of the structural changes occurred in the new configuration of the urban space and legal framework. The institutional breaking of the slavery system did not destroy the means of insertion of the workers into market. Furthermore, the surveillance and controlling strategies did not prevent the social norms that is part of the adopted strategies of the working class regarding the work relations to be effectuated.

COMPRESSIVE IMAGING FOR DIFFERENCE IMAGE FORMATION AND WIDE-FIELD-OF-VIEW TARGET TRACKING

Shikhar January 2010 (has links)
Use of imaging systems for performing various situational awareness tasks in militaryand commercial settings has a long history. There is increasing recognition, however, that a much better job can be done by developing non-traditional opticalsystems that exploit the task-specific system aspects within the imager itself. Insome cases, a direct consequence of this approach can be real-time data compressionalong with increased measurement fidelity of the task-specific features. In others, compression can potentially allow us to perform high-level tasks such as direct trackingusing the compressed measurements without reconstructing the scene of interest. In this dissertation we present novel advancements in feature-specific (FS) imagersfor large field-of-view surveillence, and estimation of temporal object-scene changesutilizing the compressive imaging paradigm. We develop these two ideas in parallel. In the first case we show a feature-specific (FS) imager that optically multiplexesmultiple, encoded sub-fields of view onto a common focal plane. Sub-field encodingenables target tracking by creating a unique connection between target characteristicsin superposition space and the target's true position in real space. This isaccomplished without reconstructing a conventional image of the large field of view.System performance is evaluated in terms of two criteria: average decoding time andprobability of decoding error. We study these performance criteria as a functionof resolution in the encoding scheme and signal-to-noise ratio. We also includesimulation and experimental results demonstrating our novel tracking method. Inthe second case we present a FS imager for estimating temporal changes in the objectscene over time by quantifying these changes through a sequence of differenceimages. The difference images are estimated by taking compressive measurementsof the scene. Our goals are twofold. First, to design the optimal sensing matrixfor taking compressive measurements. In scenarios where such sensing matrices arenot tractable, we consider plausible candidate sensing matrices that either use theavailable a priori information or are non-adaptive. Second, we develop closed-form and iterative techniques for estimating the difference images. We present results to show the efficacy of these techniques and discuss the advantages of each.
