Heated Dipstick / Uppvärmbar oljesticka

Wattle Björk, Sebastian, Ali, Omar January 2017 (has links)
Starting an engine in low temperatures creates unnecessary wear on components due to the insufficient lubrication of cold engine oil. A cold engine produces more emissions and consumes more fuel. Not all cars are equipped with engine heaters and installing an aftermarket heater is both expensive and time consuming. The aim with this project is to develop a universal engine heater with the ability to heat engine oil efficiently. Installing the engine heater should not require any special tools or expertise. To create a universal engine heater the construction is flexible similar to an electric cable and the length can be modified. The lower part, in contact with the engine oil, contains a resistor with an outside cover of steel to efficiently transfer heat. The challenge is to create an engine heater that is efficient in heating the engine oil while being small enough to fit in most cars. The surface area of the heater plays a large role when it comes to transfer heat efficiently. To heat 6 liters of engine oil from - 20 ° to -6° C takes roughly 2 hours with conventional surface area. By doubling the area by using another design, the same temperature can be reached in about 30 minutes.

Electro chemiluminescence and organic electronics of derivatised poly(aniline sulphonic acid) light-emitting diodes

Molapo, Kerileng Mildred January 2011 (has links)
>Magister Scientiae - MSc / Electrochemiluminescence (EeL) is applied for industrial applications that have considerable potential, such as clinical diagnostic, analytical chemistry, and light-emitting devices, due to selectivity, sensitivity for detection and quantification of molecules through generation of fluorescence light when electric current is applied on the materials. In EeL the electrochemical reaction allows for precise control over the time and position of the light emitting reaction. The control over time allows one to synchronise the luminescence and the biochemical reaction under study and control over position not only improves sensitivity of the instrument by increasing the signal to noise ratio, but also allows multiple analytical reactions in the same sample to be analyzed using an electrode array. The EeL generation fluorescent materials are based on inorganic semiconductor materials for light-emitting devices. Further progress in this EeL field mainly depends on discovery of new advanced materials, interfacial films and nanoparticle coatings, advances in microfluidics leading to total increase in EeL properties. There has been extensive use of polymers for enhancement of EeL properties. Electrochemiluminescent conjugated polymers constitute a new class of fluorescent polymers that emit light when excited by the flow of an electric current. These new generation fluorescent materials may now challenge the domination by inorganic semiconductor materials for the commercial market of light-emitting devices such as lightemitting diodes and polymer laser devices (PLDs).

Distribuční soustava Kypru - realizovatelnost obnovitelných zdrojů a přenos energie / Distribution system of Cyprus - feasibility of renewable energy sources and transfer of energy

Šimonová, Lucie January 2011 (has links)
Until a few decades ago few people could imagine that the photovoltaic, solar thermal and other power based on renewable resources, will become a reality. Today people from all over the world on the contrary try at full blast derive benefit from of all possible available source. Using sunlight as a source of energy is first enforced only for small devices such as calculators for charging the battery, but now we are able to produced energy from the sun to supply people around the world. Of course it is not possible supply consumer sector plus firm only from performances renewable power supply. Therefore endeavour is derive benefit from classical energy production at the same time with others power supply. The basic components of photovoltaic and solar thermal power are panels. The panels are made of different materials in different shapes and sizes. During production, the resulting effect looks in addition to costs associated with production. For photovoltaic and solar thermal power plant requires sufficient sunlight. The sunshine has biggest intensity on south of ours planets. Therefore endeavour is build lump these power station just in stand with bigger intensity sunshine. One of them is just Cyprus, too.
