Vstup a rozvoj fenoménu Reader's Digest na českém mediálním trhu / The Launch and Growth of the Reader's Digest Phenomenon on the Czech Media Market

The thesis "The Launch and Growth of the Reader's Digest Phenomenon on the Czech Media Market" recounts the history of the Reader's Digest Association (RDA) and its Czech affiliated company, Reader's Digest Výběr s.r.o. The first part of the thesis presents a chronological overview of the RDA's development from its founding to the present day. The second part describes and characterizes the RDA's first and best known product, Reader's Digest magazine. The magazine also engages in thematic analysis, which determines the specific themes of its content. The thesis describes the RDA's activities in the international sphere, focusing primarily on its Czech affiliate, namely on both its production and the marketing methods used by this Czech company.

Postoje žáků 2. stupně vybrané základní školy k předmětu přírodopis / Pupils' Attitudes Toward Natural Science Lessons

This diploma thesis aims to find out satisfaction of lower secondary school pupils with science lessons, science classroom equipment, environment and topics in science that are missed by the pupils. Their requests regarding improvement and variegation of science education are also determined, which could contribute to increasing their motivation and interest in science. This diploma thesis maps, which topics of science or tools are mostly lacked by pupils. Their opinions are determined using questionnaires, which were filled by 221 pupils of Elementary school in Uhlířské Janovice in Central Bohemian Region. The results show that pupils would like to include more field work, science outings, excursions, group work, laboratory work, science documentaries, work with a microscope and they would also like to include some real animals. Some of the respondents wouldn't change anything regarding the science lessons. With respect to the results of the research, a daylong project with environmental studies, field work, collection of natural products and their processing was suggested for the particular elementary school.

The aim of the present thesis is to determine whether the Tea Party candidatesʼ attitudes towards selected controversial issues influenced their electoral success and the success of the Tea Party movement as a whole. The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part the author focuses on the historical perspective of the political and party system in the United States of America, bipartism and position of third parties in the system. It also includes a brief analysis of the Democratic and Republican parties. Next, the author examines the Tea Party phenomenon - its genesis, structure, purposes and ideals. The subsequent section deals with three controversial issues, i.e. abortion, LGBT rights, and race, which reflect an ideological cleavage among the american public. The empirical part presents a case study entitled The influence of controversial issues on the (non)success of the Tea Party candidates, which deals with attitudes of the House and Senate Tea Party candidates who won the 2010 congressional elections towards the above- mentioned controversial issues.

One of the main objectives of this thesis is not only to map the life of Czech sculptor Vladimir Astl, but also explore various inspirational sources he might have used when creating social oriented pieces. Those are critical in is work. Typical avatars of plastics with social context are Žízeň (Thirst), Smutek (Sadness) or Stará žena (Old Woman), all of them from the period of 1905 - 1910. The initial chapter shortly discusses social problem which existed during the verge of 19th and 20th century and immediately influenced increasing use of social topics in art. Next chapter elaborates on these topics in more detail and focuses on changes of French society which were closely tied to the occurence of ambitious ideas to build monuments celebrating work of men. This chapter also discusses sculpture in France in more depth with focus on labor-oriented pieces from August Rodin, Jules Dalou and Henri Bouchard. The work of mentioned sculptors was dedicated to monuments celebrating labour. These formed a common inspiration source for social related themes in Czech sculpture of the turn of the 19th and 20th century. Next chapter continues to describe the foreign social tendencies and introduces a Belgian sculptor Constantin Meunier who made a significant impact on Czech lands with his pieces being...

TITLE: Extra-curricular activities as a support to the School educational programmes SUMMARY: The diploma thesis deals with the theme of extra-curricular activities and their supporting the curricular documents. The objectives of this thesis are to describe how extra-curricular activities support the School Education Programmes and the acquisition of the cross-curricular subjects after class. To meet these objectives the author applies triangulation of qualitative methods with the grounded theory design. The benefits of this thesis lie in pointing out the fact that leisure time activities can support the acqusition of the cross curricular subjects in schools and the provision of further findings about the possibilities of extra-curricular activities within the frame of the School Education Programmes.

The aim of this postgraduate dissertation, entitled Sexual abuse, its depiction in literature for child and young adults and its potential to use it in school, is to introduce a reader to general informations about sexual abuse of children, to draw up general principles used in fiction literature and try to offer a concrete oportunity to work with these texts in literature classes. The thesis should point to importance and seriousness of these problems, make an appeal to timely prevention and familiarization of children/students with this problem and provide concrete materials and idea show to work with this topic. The theoretical part of the work deals generally with the taboo, its forms, historical shifts and its present form. Furthermore the issue of sexual abuse in terms of professional literature is discussed, which will help us in the practical work with the understanding and assessment of the fictional literature. The practical part deals with the analysis of particular books of fiction, specifically a book by Ann Dee Ellis This is what I did…and a book by Bryan Talbot The Tale of One Bad Rat and their didactic potential at literary education classes. This diploma thesis with name "Social Poster as a Communication Tool" deals in the content with social advertisings and theirs potential use as a communication tool. The theoretical part deals with graphic design and especially the role of poster as a visual communication medium of advertising. Furthermore, the theoretical part outlines the historical development of advertising and lists the characteristic feature of social advertising, which defines in relation to commercial advertising. It outlines the historical development, refers about the legal and ethical problems of definition and raises questions about its impact and effectiveness in society. Furthermore, the theoretical part contains a list of characteristics of social advertising. It outlines an issues of legal and ethical definition and raises questions about its impact and effectiveness in society. The practical part of this work incorporates the creation own set of six social posters. Set of posters is quite focused on issues specific to the target group. In this context, the work is based on pedagogical and psychological knowledges peculiar to the target group. The assumption is further possible use posters as educational material in the second class students primary schools. On the basis of this materiál it is possible stimulate to discussion on the whole range of social issues. With this is suggested space for communication, asking questions and seeking answers.Part of this work is illustrated appendix, on which is referred to throughout the text. This section is also a record of the creative process and the resulting file of social posters and their possible variations.

This master thesis deals with leisure activities and their possibilites at work with cross-senctional themes at the first stage of primary school. This thesis is aimed to determine attitudes of teachers to integrate cross-sectional themes to education and creating a five-day program. Section defines theoretical basis of literature on the concept of leisure activities and is characterized by cross-senctional themes. It suggests procedures for integrating cross-senctional themes in education and outlines the possibility of of cross-senctional themes intersection with leisure activities. In the practical part is used the questionnaire method to investigated attitude of teachers to integrate cross-senctional themes into teaching in primary schools. The main point of this master thesis is a five day program focusing on environmental education.
