Srovnávací analýza sexuálního a agonistického chování gekonů čeledi Eublepharidae / Comparative analysis of sexual and agonistic behaviour in eyelid geckos (Eublepharidae)

Rauner, Petr January 2014 (has links)
Sexual selection is one of main selective pressure affecting body size, and subsequently leads to the evolution of sexual size dimorphism (SSD). The eyelid geckoes, family Eublepharidae, are a monophyletic group with considerable variability in SSD, including both male-larger and female-larger species. In general, it was supposed that eyelid geckos are highly variable in presence of male combats and in complexity of male pre-copulatory behaviour, and that this variability in this conspicuous male behaviour may lead to differences in SSD. The aim of this study was to reveal relationships between the direction of SSD and presence/absence of tail vibration during precopulatory phase and male combat behaviour. Using behavioural testing, it was revealed that male combats are present in all tested species, even in species, where the absence of such behaviour was supposed so far. In several species, the strong effect of seasonality to male aggression was observed, which may play a role in the evolution of SSD. The evolutionary changes in the presence/absence of tail vibration during precopulatory phase were independent on changes in the direction of SSD, the presence of tail vibration seems to be ancestral state for these lizards. During the evolution of this group, the tail vibrations disappeared four...

Akustická detekce potencionálního predátora u koně domácího (Equus caballus) / The acoustic detection of potential predator in domestic horse (Equus caballus)

Vidimská, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
Equidae belong to a group of large herbivores, which survival in natural environment depends beside others on their capability of fast predator recognition and detection. They can sensually recognise a possible threat in advance and react by immediate escape, which increases their survival. Also domestic horses still show very sensitive reaction to sudden (unexpected) stimuli. So we assume, that the ability to detect predator immediately is conserved despite of the long domestication process. The supportive indirect evidence is given by the successful breeding of the feral herds all over the world. However, studies showing the direct reaction of domestic horse toward the canids (as the most common predators), are still absent. Aim of the work was to find, if the horses (Equus caballus) could recognize acoustic sign of dogs like predators and if they could recognize the level of potential threat according to the number of predators, similarly as their wild ancestors. The recordings of barking of big dog breeds were obtained and modified. The final recording contained the set of barking coming from one individual or three different. The recording was played to the experimental horses, under controled conditions, together with white sound as a control. The reactions were recorded. Altogether 12 horses out of...

Vliv sportovního aerobiku na držení těla a svalové rovnováhy / The influence of sports aerobics on posture and muscle balance

Papežová, Veronika January 2020 (has links)
Title: The influence of sports aerobics on posture and muscle balance Aim: The aim of the thesis is to find out how aerobic gymnastics (sport aerobics) at the top level affects selected groups of muscles and posture of girls with more than 10 years of competing experience. The thesis compares the results of a group practicing aerobics with the results of a group of girls of the same age category, who engage in physical activities only during school physical education lessons. Characteristics: The diploma thesis deals with the effect of aerobic gymnastics on good posture. The basis for this thesis was obtained by testing selected shortened and weakend muscle groups. Two groups of girls were compared. The first group consisted of girls representing the Czech Republic at international championships and practicing aerobic gymnastics at the highest level for more than ten years. On the other hand, the second group consisted of subjects, who were engaged in physical activities only in physical education lessons in school. Methods: In the thesis there was used a qualitative research and delibarate selection of subjects. Selected tests evaluated posture according to Matthias according to Haladová, Nechvátalová (1997), with the help of lowered plumb line according to Kopecký (2010) and test exercises for...

Sledování úrovně držení těla a vztahu mezi držením těla a tělesnou zdatností u mladších školních dětí / Monitoring of the quality of body posture and of the relation between body posture and physical fitness at young school-age children

Vojtíková, Lenka January 2020 (has links)
Title: Monitoring of the quality of body posture and of the relation between body posture and physical fitness at young school-age children Objective: The main goal of the work is to determine the quality of body posture and to find out the relation between posture and individual components of physical fitness and between posture and leisure time regime at a selected group of children of young school-age children Methods: The research group consisted of 147 children, 77 boys and 70 girls from 1st to 3rd grades aged 6.3 to 9.7 years. To evaluation of posture has been performed by the Matthias test, which has been modified tor the purpose of this thesis. This modified test was verified in a pilot study. The assessment of physical fitness was based on a UNIFITTEST 6-60 test battery, also the values of somatic features were measured. The test battery was supplemented by a test of maximum reach while sitting bended. To determine the volume of physical activities, a questionnaire was used, resp. the survey, which was completed by parents, due to the age of the children. To evaluate the date, statistical methods have been used for evaluating differences (the-test, Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal- Wallis test) and to analyse the depency of variables a Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was used. The effect...

Jak ženy v České republice reflektují způsob zobrazování žen v reklamě / The Czech women's view on representation of women in advertisement

Koláčková, Martina January 2020 (has links)
Master thesis The Czech Women's view on representation of women in advertisement focuses on the way advertisement reproduces gender stereotypes and sexism in the society. The analysis examines the view of female audience on this matters. The role of advertisement, gender roles and gender stereotypes, sexism and feminism are introduced in the beginning of this thesis. Main traits of sexism in advertisement are described. Possible impact of stereotyped and sexist advertisement on its viewers is demonstrated by introducing results of field related analyses. Based on interviews' analysis with selected group of women it was discovered that women view the representation of women in advertisement to be heavily stereotyped. Women in advertisement are reduced to the following categories: physically attractive and carefree, homemaker, naive and dull, and last but not least sex object. Even though female responders are able to identify some negative impacts of this stereotyped representation of women on both women's and men's lives, their concerns are undermined by their attitude towards advetisement which they do not consider to be capable of changing public attitudes and values. Female responders are convinced that gender discrimination against women is still present in the Czech Republic and advertisement...

Růst a ontogeneze pohlavního dimorfismu ve velikosti u zlatohlávků (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae) / Growth and ontogeny of sexual size dimorphism in Cetoniinae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae)

Vendl, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
6 Abstract Due to its effect on fitness and many biological processes is body size one of the most important attribute of organisms. Body size is positively correlated with fecundity in insects and other ectotherms. Growth, which determine body size, is therefore crucial feature of animals. Study of growth can elucidate some aspects of body size evolution. Unfortunatelly, many insects life-history studies do not consider its complexity, especially the existence of distinct larval instars. Inaccurate record of growth trajectory may result also in biased differences in growth between sexually dimorphic sexes. Aim of this thesis is to record growth trajectories of two flower beetle species (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae). These growth trajectories enable to define proximate mechanisms of growth with regard to individual instars. Determination of developmental mechanisms of sexual size dimorphism is another goal of this study. The growth is clearly divided in three distinct periods. In each individual period (i.e. instar) is described by asymptotic curve. The instars are not independent on each other - the growth in following instar is influenced by growth in previous. There are no differences in growth characteristics between sexes. Sexual size dimorphism is caused by differences in growth rate between...

Analýza posturálních funkcí a držení těla u triatlonistů ve věku 10-15 let / Analysis of postural functions and posture in triathletes aged 10-15 years

Plintová, Ester January 2021 (has links)
TITLE OF THESIS: Analysis of postural functions and posture in triathletes aged 10-15 years. OBJECTIVES OF THESIS: The aim of this work is to analyze the condition of the musculoskeletal system and posture in triathletes aged 10-15 years and based on that to create a health compensation program and then verify and be able to objectify the main musculoskeletal problems, recommend and provide remedies. METHODS USED: In my diploma thesis I used in testing the level of motor skills tests tested by CTA for the age group of triathletes 8-15 years and then I compared them according to the table determining the level of assumptions using T-points. I used a ray graph to summarize the average results of the group. I tested the analysis of postural functions and posture using physiotherapeutic tests according to the authors Jaroš and Lomíček, and I used Matthias' test as a supplement. During testing according to Jaroš and Lomíček, I used a plumb line, protractor and grid to make the evaluation as accurate as possible. During the physiotherapy measurements, I took photos and videos, thanks to which I was able to better identify postural defects, however they could not be presented in the diploma thesis. I recorded the individual results in tables. RESULTS: My research showed that regular application of a...

Kompenzační cvičení u sportovních gymnastek / Compensatory exercise for women artistic gymnasts

Kupková, Monika January 2015 (has links)
Title: Compensatory exercise for women artistic gymnasts Objectives: Aim of the thesis was to discover deviations from correct posture and to verify efficiency of suggested compensatory exercise for women artistic gymnasts. Used methods: Study involved 9 girls (average age: 12 ± 0,7 years) who have been training gymnastics for 6,22 years in average. Individual subjects were tested for correct posture, tight muscles and hypermobility. Afterwards, an exercise plan stretched into five months was applied (21 lessons common for all the subjects, 14 lessons under a trainer's supervision for each subject individually and 59 at-home lessons). After completing the exercise plan, second testing was run. Results: Majority of the tested group was detected with hypermobility. At the beginning of the study, all the subjects had mild muscle tightness at least on one of the tested muscles (most often hip flexors). Having applying the exercise plan, status of three subjects (33,33 % of the group) has been compensated. Five subjects (55,55 %) have improved the status of at least one tight muscle. Key words: Diagnosis, gymnastics, compensatory exercise, muscular system, posture, hypermobility, tight muscles.
