In Swedish upper-secondary school, economics is part of the content of the social studies subject. Learning about concepts relevant to economics is a significant part of that. This study investigates how upper-secondary school students experience their economics education about concepts and measure their self-assessed and actual conceptual knowledge. Conceptual theory serves as the theoretical framework. Research indicates that upper-secondary school teachers and students struggle with the subject. Students from various parts of the world also show a lack of overall knowledge within economics. The material consists of questionnaires from 60 students spread across different cities in Sweden. The result reveals that a substantial amount of the students finds the economic subject as very difficult although interesting. A sizable part of the students mentions that their teachers have been a big part of their learning process. However, the result reports that a significant number of students displays inadequate conceptual knowledge. Furthermore, the students self-assessed and actual conceptual knowledge does not align with each other. Possible solutions include adding more economics elements to the curriculum or improve teacher’s economics training.

Impact of Typical-year and Multi-year Weather Data on the Energy Performance of the Residential and Commercial BuildingsMoradi, Amir 18 July 2022 (has links)
Changes in weather patterns worldwide and global warming increased the demand for high-performance buildings resilient to climate change. Building Performance Simulation (BPS) is a robust technique to test, assess, and enhance energy efficiency measures and comply with stringent energy codes of buildings. Climate has a considerable impact on the buildings' thermal environment and energy performance; therefore, choosing reliable and accurate weather data is crucial for building performance evaluation and reducing the performance gap. Typical Weather Years (TWYs) have been traditionally used for energy simulation of buildings. Even if detailed energy assessments can be performed using available multi-year weather data, most simulations are carried out using a typical single year. As a result, this fictitious year must accurately estimate the typical multi-year conditions. TWYs are widely used because they accelerate the modeling process and cut down on computation time while generating relatively accurate long-term predictions of building energy performance. However, there is no certainty that a single year can describe the changing climate and year-by-year variations in weather patterns. Nowadays, with increased computational power and higher speeds in calculation processes, it is possible to adopt multi-year weather datasets to fully assess long-term building energy performance and avoid errors and inaccuracies during the preliminary selection procedures.
This study aims to investigate the impact of Typical Weather Years and Actual Weather Years (AWYs) on a single-family house and a university building under two opposite climates, Winnipeg (cold) and Catania (hot). First, a single-family house in Winnipeg, Canada, was selected to evaluate how typical weather years affect the energy performance of the building and compare it with AWYs simulation. Two widely used typical weather data, CWEC and TMY, were selected for the simulation. The results were compared with the outcomes of simulation using AWYs derived from the same weather station from 2015 to 2019, which covered the latest climate changes. The results showed that typical weather years could not sufficiently capture the year-by-year variation in weather patterns. The typical weather years overestimated the cooling load while underestimating the heating demands compared to the last five actual weather years. A more extensive study was conducted for more confidence in the findings and understanding of the weather files. The research was expanded by comparing the results of building performance simulation of the single-family house and an institutional building with more complex envelope characteristics belonging to the University of Manitoba under cold (Winnipeg, Canada) and hot (Catania, Italy) climates. Overall, 48 simulations were performed using ten actual weather years from 2010 to 2019 and two TWYs from each climate for both buildings. The results showed that while the TWYs either overestimate or underestimate the cooling and heating demands of both buildings, cooling load predictions were highly overestimated in the heating-dominant climate of Winnipeg, ranging from 10.5% to 82.4% for both buildings by CWEC and TMY weather data. In the cooling-dominant climate of Catania, energy simulations using IWEC and TMY typical weather data highly overestimated the heating loads between 2.8% and 82.4%.

AN IN VITRO EVALUATION OF THE WIRELE-X ELECTRONIC APEX LOCATORBrand, Lucas M, DDS, Dunlap, Craig A, DDS, Scott, Ray, DDS MSD, Peters, Ove A, DMD MS PhD 01 January 2021 (has links)
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of the Wirele-X (Forum Tec, Ashkelon, Israel), a new Bluetooth-enabled electronic apex locator (EAL). The accuracy of the Wirele-X and the Root ZX II (J. Morita, Tokyo, Japan) was compared in vitro using an alginate model. Materials/Methods: Thirty-one extracted single-rooted human teeth with mature apices were decoronated at the CEJ. Under 10X magnification, actual canal lengths (ACL) were determined. The teeth were embedded in alginate and electronic canal length measurements were obtained using the Root ZX II and Wirele-X EALs. Each tooth was measured three times with both EALs. A blinded examiner measured each file with a digital micrometer to the nearest 0.01 mm. Differences between ACLs and the average measurements from the EALs were compared with Student's t test for related samples. Results: The average distance from the file tip to the apical foramen (AF) was -0.11 mm (±0.16) and -0.07 mm (±0.21) for the Root ZX II and Wirele-X systems, respectively. There were no statistically significant differences between the two apex locators in their ability to locate the AF (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Both the Wirele-X and the Root ZX II provided a high level of accuracy and reliability in locating the AF.

Fostering Financial Inclusion in Developing Countries: Predicting User Acceptance of Mobile Wallets in CameroonFosso Wamba, S., Queiroz, M.M., Blome, C., Sivarajah, Uthayasankar 14 September 2020 (has links)
Yes / Financial inclusion is a vital development priority for countries worldwide. Mobile wallet (m-wallet) is considered as a disruptive payment method that will substitute the traditional physical wallet to achieve the so-called cashless society and enables financial inclusion. This study aims at developing and testing a research model that integrates a set of technology factors (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, fun to use, monetary value), external factors (peer influence and perceived status benefit), and cultural factors (humane orientation and societal collectivism) to assess the intention to adopt and use m-wallet, for financial inclusion, in a developing country. The proposed conceptual model is tested using data collected from 621 m-wallet users in Cameroon. The model explains 47.5% of the variance of the actual use of m-wallet and 32.90% of the variance of financial inclusion. Finally, implications for research and practice are discussed.

Soriano Morales, Joan 02 September 2021 (has links)
[EN] The fundamental purpose pursued in this thesis is to establish the relationships between movement and interpretation. A global perspective of the phenomenon is offered, starting from the personal holistic-kinetic conception centered on the current repertoire for percussion.
Theoretical-interpretative decisions are the result of reflection and continuous artistic and teaching practice carried out over the years. On the one hand, through recitals both as a soloist and in different projects related to the creation, interpretation and dissemination of the art of percussion and, on the other, in the performance of the teaching function as a specialist in different fields and levels.
The necessary conceptual bases are established to extrapolate some common principles to the different instruments or sets of instruments through the interpretation of the great contemporary repertoire. The research work is carried out from the analysis, recording, interviews with great interpreters, studies and similar works in other fields associated with their use of movement as a means of expression.
The thesis crystallizes in different results and theoretical-practical concepts that are reflected in the edition of a score, the definition of general interpretive principles and the recording in different formats of the different pieces that make up the main corpus of study. The audiovisual records are grouped into two blocks: the edition of an audio CD with 5 pieces of the contemporary repertoire for percussion and bass clarinet, and the recording of the three fundamental pieces of the thesis in free access high-quality video format in network. / Soriano Morales, J.
