Sociální rehabilitace v Domově pro seniory Máj v Českých Budějovicích, p. o. / Social Rehabilitation in the Nursing Home called Máj in České Budějovice,p.o.HANČLOVÁ, Svatava January 2012 (has links)
A social rehabilitation in the Seniors´ Home Máj in České Budějovice A social rehabilitation is a complex of activities encouraging an independence, self-sufficiency and social integration of clients of the Seniors´ Home. An aim of the thesis is to evaluate a progress of the social rehabilitation in the Seniors´ Home Máj in České Budějovice. A qualitative research was carried out to achieve objectives of the thesis. Five clients were chosen in order to determine a subjective evaluation of the social rehabilitation. Semi-standardized interviews were conducted with them. An observation method was applied at their engaging in activities in the Seniors´ Home as well as at seniors outside this facility, and a method of document analysis. Obtained information has been contained in case studies and they were analysed by using a grounded theory. Semi-standardized interviews were also conducted to find out attitudes of the professional staff and managers to the social rehabilitation. Factors affecting clients´ social functioning were also monitored in a course of the observation. Information from the interviews with the staff and the observation were again analysed through a method of the grounded theory. The thesis confirms findings of similarly oriented researches. It shows that the course of the social rehabilitation is influenced by institutional, personal and economic influences. The effect of applied methods and techniques of the social rehabilitation depends on an approach of the staff as well as clients and a quality of the clients´ social relations. The research has proven that an integration of clients in the facility as well as outside is supported by a wide offer of leisure time activities. Even if the clients in the Seniors´ Home have enough opportunities for mutual meetings, they are not usually successful in establishing a fully-fledged friendship and they often feel lonely. Although there is encouraged self-sufficiency per clients´ individual needs in the Seniors´ Home Máj, therapeutic activities are conducted and clients participate in physical activities, their level of self-sufficiency reduces. Results of the diploma thesis are stimulating for the staff of the Seniors´ Home Máj as well as for other social service founders and providers.

PREVENCE ÚRAZŮ U SENIORŮ / THE PREVENTION OF SENIORS´ INJURIESNEDVĚDOVÁ, Jana January 2007 (has links)
The prevention of seniors´injuries The injuries of people at seniors age have become one of the serious issues of today´s medicine, presenting not only the health problem but also the social one. The most seniors´injuries associates with falls and slips. The second main cause for injuries are the traffic accidents, the next one following upon are the accidents, which happen often at home during the casual activities. The intoxication at the old age is not rare either. The prevention of the falls and potential injuries is based on reduction of hazards of accident occurrence. The prevention, which leads to continuing reduction of the accident rate at seniors age corresponds with the goal no. 5 that is stated in the World Hospital Organization {\clqq}Health 21`` Document. The chosen exploratory method was the quantitative sociologic research based on on-the-spot requiries by the use of question form. The research sample of population consisted from seniors from 65 years old up (130 correspondents) chosen randomly in the region of České Budějovice within the year 2005. The data were all compiled in the Organization For Injuries Preventions in South Bohemia software program. Seniors faced the health hazard and injuries mostly at homes, which are mostly caused by restriction in movements. The most casual ones are the falls. The protective instruments and equipment, which might reduce the injury risks (for example non-barrier entries, skidding devices, bars and so on) still are not the standards for seniors today. The knowledge and understanding the emergancy phone numbers is not sufficient either. The possibilities of prevention for seniors are various, but have not been much exploited yet. It seems the seniors should be firstly adressed by public health employees, which they are in casual contact with and they usually rely on. The topic of prevention of injuries should be also more discussed at education programs destined for seniors.

The thesis aims on the importance of the media as well. This work draws from a theoretical knowledge and a self qualitative research in the practical section. The research is based on having qualitative talks with seniors. The work should find out what kind of media is preferred among seniors and why, or what role the media play in everyday life of a senior. This thesis is also focused on pointing out the fact that more seniors interest themselves in learning how to work with the internet and how they benefit from using the web. In addition, I would also like to show how the contemporary seniors spend their leisure-time and how the media participate in their lives.

Reduction of smoking is a basic condition for decrease of deaths caused by tumour and cardiac diseases. The goal of the thesis is to monitor prevalence of smoking in senior citizens and detect their awareness of smoking. 206 respondents at the age of sixty and above paricipated in this research. 50 % of these people vrote that they had never snoked. 20 % of informants were active smokers, at the time of this survey, and 55 % of senior citizens wrote that they considered nicotine addiction to be a disease. The author tries to verify the hypothesis concerning smoking of senior citizens who suffer from chronic disease. 44 % of the respondents, who were active smokers at the time of the survey, suffered from chronic disease. The researcher uses the next hypothesis because she wants to confirm the fact that senior citizens have a positive attitude to prohibition of smoking in the restaurants and in public areas. The research verified this hypothesis - 72 % of the informants had a positive attitude to prohibition of smoking in public.

An exploration of the lived experiences of black women secondary school leadersBailey-Morrissey, Claudette January 2016 (has links)
This research study investigates the lived experiences of eight Black women senior secondary school leaders (hereafter referred to as Black women senior leaders) so as to elucidate their understanding, perceptions and experiences of senior leadership. Educational reform has taken place in England during the Thatcher, Major, New Labour and Coalition governments, leading to significant changes in secondary schools in England. These changes have resulted in new leadership roles, challenges and high levels of accountability. Moreover, the role of headteachers and senior leaders have been widely researched and discussed (Brundrett, 1999; Bush et al. 2006; Lumby and English, 2009; Leithwood, 2009, 2012), yet the experiences of Black women senior leaders is absent from the literature, which has focused on the experiences of Black minority and ethnic teachers and leaders (Powney et al. 2003; Bush et al. 2006; Coleman and Campbell-Stephens, 2010; Johnson and Campbell-Stephens, 2014) A social constructionist, interpretivist paradigm was adopted for this thesis and, using an intersectionality lens, the complexities of Black women senior leaders’ multiple identities and experiences were explored. Sixteen transcripts were generated from two semistructured interviews with the participants and my own, to explore how their race; gender; and, social class intersect to shape their leadership perceptions, beliefs and behaviours. Moreover, this research study is interested in gaining a better understanding of how Black women senior leaders develop their personal and professional identities; the value they place on formal and informal leadership preparation, development and learning approaches; and, how they maintain professional relationships with colleagues. The key findings are presented under the three research questions where Black women senior leaders’ narratives elucidate the lessons they have learnt throughout their senior leadership journeys, which provide insights into their experiences, offering practical advice to help other Black women and colleagues considering senior leadership.
