Senior and the City

Novo, Rosanna January 2022 (has links)
Senior and the City investigate the question; what does it mean to age with dignity in the city? With recent years of pandemic precautions, as senior citizens were subdivided into a high-index group, a greater focus was set upon their living conditions due to the protection. The protective isolation bore discussions about loneliness and the value of social contact arose.  In my thesis project I have made a case study of the senior living home the Flower Fund. Through my research and the pre-conditions of the Flower Fund I have made three public gestures with the aim to link the activity within the buildings to the public life of the streets-cape without. Proposing architectural means which are effective in creating public spaces that is somehow generous and beneficial for both seniors and the city.

Ombyggnation av Miljonprogrammet : En studie kring hur ett 1970-tals bostadshus kan anpassas till seniorboende.

Allaga, Marina, Askar, Nadeen January 2022 (has links)
The current shortage of senior housing and the lack of accessibility in today's million-program housing creates concern among the older age group when the need to move becomes necessary with aging. Nowadays, more and more older groups are experiencing a fear of no longer being able to stay in their current homes due to lack of accessibility, which can make everyday life more difficult. Between the period 1965-1974 a million homes were built, which today are facing extensive refurbishment. By increasing the availability of these homes, the demand for senior housing can be accommodated while contributing to a more accessible society. In order to increase accessibility and contribute to an optimal living environment for seniors, technical building measures are required to be taken, as well as improvement regarding the floor plan. A pleasant indoor climate, access to a lift, spacious bathrooms and meeting places are some of the accomodationg that seniors value in their residential building. This report thus examines the required construction technical solutions to increase accessibility and improve the living environment in an existing residential building built under the million program in Finspång municipality. It also examines whether these solutions are technically and financially feasible to carry out, as well as researching what seniors generally appreciate in their living environments.

What Comes After the Boom? Baby Boomers in Santa Maria, California a Market Study for People's Self Help Housing

Brighton, Elizabeth Anne 01 June 2013 (has links) (PDF)
This Master’s Project is separated into two parts: the introduction and background informing an affordable senior housing market study, and a market study prepared for People’s Self Help Housing (PSHH). The introduction begins by providing current and future trends for seniors at the national and state levels. This includes discussion of the “Baby Boomer” age cohort and their rapid growth and potential impact to the housing market. The introduction then describes challenges facing developers of affordable senior housing. These challenges include the type, location, and funding sources for future senior housing projects. All federal funding sources for affordable senior housing projects are then briefly presented and their applicability to the proposed project is explained. The introduction sets the stage for a market study created to determine the feasibility of an affordable senior housing project in the Santa Maria/Orcutt market area.

Probing language in Tanzania within western oriented business organisations. Analysis of senior managers' workplace discourses in different social groups

Rafner, Carl Ottar January 2015 (has links)
This study from Tanzania contributes to the understanding of the management discourses circulating amongst senior managers in Western owned companies in Tanzania. It identifies two dominant discourses, a Western derived Contractual discourse and the local derived Kinship discourse. The division of their use is not by ethnic origin of senior managers but are drawn on in various ways by all managers. This research focuses on senior experienced managers from three different nationalities who were asked to tell stories from their experiences in management life. Their stories contain their perceptions of various populations and show their evaluations of those populations. Analysis shows how people draw on discourses circulating within their societies, reveals these actual underlying discourses, and explores the languages used in communication. Two sets of communication languages emerged from this analysis, the Western contractual and the local kinship discourse. Western contractual thinking rests upon efficiency and profit-making. This stands in contrast to the kinship thinking which is rooted in communal and humanistic values. These contrasting discourses contribute to misunderstanding, but there is common ground between them. If this commensurable dimension is internalised, a local Tanzanian management discourse may appear that would represent a new management discourse. An organisational framework that may support this discourse’s emergency and circulation is suggested.

Guardians at the Gate: The Influence of Senior Management on Cybersecurity Culture and Awareness Training : A Qualitative Multiple Case Study

Karim, Adam, Törnqvist, Alexandra January 2023 (has links)
Background: Organisations are left vulnerable and susceptible to cyber-attacks due to the digitisation of information and dependency on information and communication technologies. As a result, the critical need for organisations to hinder, protect and preserve their cyberspace from multiple threats is emphasised. Due to human error being accountable for most electronic data breaches, a resilient cybersecurity culture is desired.  To minimise cybersecurity threats, a human-inclusive strategy must be implemented in the culture and the inclusion and engagement of strong leadership within senior management.   Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore senior management’s role in cybersecurity culture and particularly, its influence on awareness training.   Method: The research is based on an interpretivist paradigm and adheres to abductive reasoning. Through the usage of semi-structured interviews and the utilisation of non-probability sampling, qualitative data was produced, and a multiple case study was conducted.   Conclusion: Senior management influences the practical implications in the organisation, such as training, as well as the assumptions and beliefs of its employees. Senior management influences the engagement, involvement, and responsibility of protecting and safeguarding the organisation's assets, and how this is reciprocated to the whole organisation. Furthermore, senior management addresses and manages the priority of cybersecurity in the organisation. Thus, employee behaviour and attitude are greatly impacted by senior management engagement and presence, showcasing a positive correlation between senior management influence and employee behaviour and beliefs.
