By using Genette’s terminology on narratology and close-reading of the novel the thesis shows that a sense of distance and unrootedness is created within the novel and that the theme of unrootedness and exile creates a frame for the narration, which lacks of a plot in a traditional meaning and which’s main character’s subject is fragmented, which is typical for a poststructuralist novel.
