Ambiência pré-porteira: avaliação das condições bioclimáticas e das operações pré-eclosão na qualidade de pintos de corte / Post-hatching ambience: evaluation of bioclimatic conditions and of prehatching operations in the quality of one-day-old chickens

Nazareno, Aérica Cirqueira 28 August 2012 (has links)
The major aim was to evaluate the bioclimatic conditions, different storage times and the transportation of fertile eggs from breeders of different ages, and its influence on the hatchability and quality of one-day-old chickens. The experiment was divided in three phases: the eggs room of the hatchery, transportation and hatchery, which were carried out in three seasons of the year. The first phase was developed in the eggs room of the poultry hatchery located in the city of Amparo São Paulo State, Brazil. The bioclimatic evaluation of the eggs room of the hatchery was done through the temperature (T), relative humidity (RH) and specific enthalpy (h). Three different ages of breeders from Cobb Fast strain were selected and three intervals of storage times. Four thousand and three hundred and twenty eggs were selected, but 140 eggs from each treatment were randomly weighed in the entrance and in the departure of the room. A random design was adopted in a 3 x 3 factorial design. In the second phase a box-truck was used. Four thousand and three hundred and twenty eggs were transported, totaling 18 boxes referred to the three breeders ages and the three storage times. The eggs were transported in three trips, composed by 1440 eggs in each trip. The bioclimatic characterization of trucks profiles was done through the variables (T, RH and h). Two levels of boxes positioning were evaluated (upper and lower). Levels of vibration and shocks were also evaluated in the dirt and asphalt highways. The number of cracked and broken eggs was counted of all the evaluated load. The analysis of water loss of the eggs was done through the weights of the 140 eggs in the departure of the room and in the entrance in the hatchery. A random design was adopted in a 3 x 2 x 4 and 3 x 2 factorial designs. To the cracked eggs and to the water loss a random design was adopted in a 3 x 3 factorial design. The third phase was developed in a company hatchery located in the city of Mogi Mirim São Paulo State. Bioclimatic evaluations were done in the eggs room, hatchers, hatcheries and waiting room through variables (T, RH and h). Three different age of breeders and 12 storage times were selected. Thirty five individualized eggs were weighed of each treatment in the entrance and in the departure (eggs room and hatcher). After the hatching of the one-day-old chickens, 30 chicks were randomly selected per treatment to evaluate respiration rate, mean surface and cloacal temperatures, and weight. The hatchability and the hatching rate were calculated. The experimental design adopted was hierarquical. Bioclimatic conditions, the different storage times and the transportation of fertile eggs from breeders of different ages influenced the hatchability and the quality of one-day-old chickens.

The pathway to outcompete fossilfuels : Solar thermal as an alternative for industrial heating processesin Gujarat, India

Emilie, Nordlander January 2021 (has links)
2015 the Paris agreement was signed to tackle the climate change and reduce emissions from fossil fuel burning. The industrial and manufacturing sector which alone accounts for 32% of global energy use relies heavily on fossil fuels. Solar thermal energy is a renewable energy source that has potential of replacing large portions of this energy. The Swedish research and development company, Absolicon Solar Collectors AB are manufacturers of solar collectors and production lines of dito. Their main product, the Absolicon T160, is a concentrating solar collector which can produce heat up to 160°C.India, and more specifically the state of Gujarat is an interesting market for the solar collectors. This study is aiming to give Absolicon a better understanding of the potential of replacing fossil fuel with solar thermalenergy in Gujarat, so that they can direct their efforts in the right direction. It is a qualitative study mainly focused on the dairy and textile processing industry, two important sectors in the state that has process demands which can be run on solar thermal energy. Since no reliable data regarding the energy consumption in the studied industries where found, a method for estimating the energy consumption is presented in the study. The results from the study shows that large scale manufacturing is possible from a demand point of view, but there are many hindrances for a market penetration. In India large portions of the industry segments studied is non-organized, i.e. small scale with low level of modern technology. Integration of solar thermal energy in the non-organized sector demands a different approach. Based on the results a market analysis with suggestions on how to proceed for the different industrial segments studied is presented.Despite good solar insolation in the state the solar resource was studied in greater detail as aerosols and dust can affect the energy yield from the solar collectors. The results indicates that the annual solar irradiation can be both over- and underestimated when using satellite derived models. India has monsoon seasons and seasonal winds which affects the levels of aerosols in the atmosphere. The level of aerosols and dust has ahigh impact on the solar resource.Ground measurements are therefore a complement that could be used to get a better understandingon site.
