Third culture kids are children raised in globally mobile families who have left their culture of origin to reside in a host culture. As this relocation occurs during childhood, the child combines the values, traditions, and norms of both cultures thereby creating a third culture, a unique culture created by the parent’s integration of the home culture, the host culture, and the domains of the organizational culture. Emotional Stability was found to mediate the relationship between family of origin Expression and Composite distress. Though this was the only hypothesized model that was supported, other interesting findings include that when participants were categorized by industry, statistically significant differences were found between Military, Missions, and the Other group on all of the scales. These differences are likely due to a cohort effect, given that the military family mean age was as much as twenty years higher than the other groups.

At an annual cost of over three billion dollars, surgical extraction of third molars is by far the most performed surgical procedure in the United States; however, there is and has been much controversy in the literature over the last several decades about the practicality of this procedure. Presently, professionals are divided on the issue of whether or not surgical extraction is necessary for asymptomatic disease free third molars. This comprehensive literature review was performed to investigate the current evidence concerning the prophylactic removal of third molars. It was discovered that many several journals, particularly those pertaining to oral and maxillofacial surgery has been hugely instrumental in marketing this procedure to the public through research articles. Close analysis of the literature revealed a significant level of inconsistency relating to study design, sample size, and methodology. In conclusion, for the typical prophylactic third molar extraction, the risk of complications are often underestimated while the potential gains in quality of life may be exaggerated which will impede the decision making process for the clinician and patient. For an elected surgery that is performed at such a grand scale, there are too many variables still unclear in the literature, many of which present as a public health hazard. There are also many other factors, both physically and ethically, that need to be considered before a responsible decision can be made. It was also found that the imaging technology currently being used as the standard of care for the diagnosis and treatment planning of third molars does not give a clear enough picture to ensure a complication-free surgery. Furthermore, there are other non-invasive options for the management of asymptomatic third molars that are not being applied enough, which do not require sacrificing the third molars. Complications resulting from third molar surgery are one of the most common reasons responsible for lawsuits facing dentists today and can also result in a lifetime of pain and disability for the patient. Taken together, the high cost of surgery along with the risk of complications following an otherwise disease-free third molar doesn't seem to be representative of responsible dentistry. More conservative approaches along with a general shift towards evidence-based dentistry may be the answer for the proper management of third molars. Discouraging the practice of prophylactic removal of third molars could result in billions of dollars in saving, elimination of millions of days of discomfort, and prevention of permanent injury to tens of thousands of people.

The goal of this thesis is to find out if racial and antisemitic propaganda had an impact on Czech people. This goal was realised on antisemitic programmes which were aired in Český rozhlas during the years 1938- 1945. Then I made interviews with people who lived during Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia and who already participated on my previous research. The interviews helped to find out whether the antisemitic propaganda had any impact on the people and if it had, to what extent.

The thesis investigates private versus public space and the natural tendency for an individual to seek out its own place within a group. More specifically, the project studies whether private and public could not only occupy the same geographic space independently, but also activate one another. A library was chosen as the program for its opportunity to serve as a "third place" in the community. A "third place" is a neutral ground that is neither a home nor workplace. The benefit of such a place is to stimulate conversation and interaction, to provide a way to either hide or be seen, and to encourage social cohesion as people meet that may not have through normal daily life. The site is on the corner of 12th and H Streets NE in Washington, DC. Its location in a rebounding streetscape demands that the library give the surrounding context a large role in its design. Public space is a priority, and the building is porous to extend the exterior into the interior and vice versa. The library's ever-changing role in a city inspires flexibility in the design and a life beyond normal library hours. / Master of Architecture

The purpose of this study is to determine the possible influence of the use of filmstrip material upon a group of third-grade pupils as compared with another group of third-grade pupils not using filmstrip materials.
