Genom att ta tillvara på andra kvaliteter är det pittoreska och slottet och ge en mer nyanserad bild av Mariefred blir hotellet tillåtande av stadens utveckling. Mariefred får förhålla sig till en relativt stor struktur men får även mycket tillbaka. I sin tur förhåller sig byggnaden till platsens behov och förutsättningar som allmänna funktioner, höjd, rikt friluftsliv, klimat och  säsongsväxlingar. Hotellet fungerar som en nod för friluftsaktiviteter lokalt och som slut på en gren av sörmlandsleden. I området kan man vandra, paddla, segla, utföra geocaching, fiska, klättra och åka skridskor. Bygganden fylls under sommarhalvåret med aktiviteter som hör till och det finns flertalet allmänna funktioner. Strukturen är en tät trästomme som täcker nästan hela tomten som man som besökare upplever både horisontellt och vertikalt, visuellt och i rörelse. Rum, plan och trappor byggs in i strukturen och får förhålla sig till dess dimensioner samtidigt som den ger möjlighet till en klättrande känsla och en flexibilitet till hotellet att förändras efter framtida behov. Gäster ges möjlighet att leva nära det rådande klimatet genom att huset är uppdelat i tre klimatzoner och vintertid rullas en väv av isolering ut som ett tak över loungen för att bilda en varm kärna. This project aims to create a stable to showcase the equestrian world to a greater audience, a National Riding Arena, designed form the perspective of horses, riders and visitors. / Ridning är en upplevelse som för de flesta blir en livslång passion. I Sverige är ridning den näst största ungdomssporten, men för de som aldrig har prövat är det en nästan mytisk sport. Det här projektet syftar till att skapa ett stall som visar upp ridsporten och hästvärlden för en större publik. En nationell ridarena, designad från hästens, ryttarens och besökarens perspektiv.
