Euthanasie / Euthanasia

Vlčková, Klára January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this Master's degree thesis is an overall assessment of the issue of euthanasia and a consideration of its possible legal regulation. In order to accomplish this aim it was necessary to carry out an analysis of foreign legislations of euthanasia. Furthermore, I have dealt in this thesis with the current status of euthanasia under the legal order of the Czech Republic with primary emphasis on criminal law. This thesis consists in total of four chapters. Chapter One deals with the most general matters of euthanasia, in particular with the matter of the term itself, usually determined forms and historical developments of attitudes towards euthanasia. Chapter Two compares foreign legislations of euthanasia and their impact on practice. Chapter Three clarifies the status of euthanasia in respect of the Czech legal order, in particular from the perspective of criminal law, in respect of recent legislative efforts for its legal regulation and considerations of possible future legal development. The last chapter deals with fundamental arguments of supporters and dissenters of euthanasia and provides its summarizing assessment. The conclusion, which I have reached while working on this thesis, is kind of a compromise. I suppose that legalization of euthanasia does not stand for a right direction,...

Moved by this purpose, it goes through a path in which plots and characters suffer metamorphoses, to understand how the spirit of time shows itself up in the first season of this series. The key notions that guide it are of imaginary (and its technologies) and of postmodernity. But it also counts on the theoretical contribution of the fairy tales and of the television series. Through them, the Comprehensive Sociology, as method, and the Comprehensive Film Analysis of Serialized Narrative, as research technique, it launches into the cartography of Once Upon a Time in the field of Sociology Communication. With this theoretical and methodological basis, it deciphers the living imaginary micromuseum of this series, which reveals itself as a metaphor (if not, a caricature) of contemporary sociality. In addition, in the anthropological path of this research, it is proposed, among other theoretical advances, its own notions of imaginary, regime of contemporary images, postmodernity, communication and fairy tales. It is also suggested a new way of analyzing television series.

Psychological Problems Of Prisoners On The Bases Of Their Upon-release Future Expectations And Personality Characteristics: The Importance Of Being Parent And Time Left Before Release

Karaca, Ozlem 01 December 2010 (has links) (PDF)
The main purpose of the study was to obtain an estimate of Upon-Release Future Expectations of prisoners, and to examine the associations between these expectations and prisoners&rsquo / psychological problems. In addition, the effect of being parent, and of time left before release on Upon-Release Future Expectations of prisoners and their psychological problems were aimed to be examined. For these purposes, firstly, Upon-Release Future Expectations Scale was developed, and its reliability was investigated. Positive-Negative Affect Scale, Beck Depression Scale, the Trait Form of State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and Hopelessness Scale were used to test its criterion-related validity. Then, in order to reveal the associations between the variables, two sets of regression analyses were conducted. In the first regression analysis, age, gender, time left before release, parental status (i.e., being a parent or not), and scores of Rosenbaum&rsquo / s Learned Resourcefulness Scale and Basic Personality Traits Inventory were used as independent variables, and revealed factors of Upon-Release Future Expectations (i.e., Future Conditions, Perceived Risks, and Confidence in Coping) were entered as dependent variables. In the second regression analysis, besides the independent variables of the first analysis, factors of Upon-Release Future Expectations were used as independent variables, and depression, trait anxiety, and hopelessness scores were entered as dependent variables. The results did not reveal a main effect for time left before release and parental status. Both the significant associations and the insignificant associations between the dependent and the independent variables were discussed. The study was conducted with 96 female and 84 male prisoners.

Etude traductologique d'une traduction française de J.C. Oates

Dionne, Micheline. January 1996 (has links)
French literary translators have traditionally translated in an ethnocentric fashion in such a way that the translated work did not seem translated. They tried to write their translations in the same way the author would have, had he been French. Readers of French translations seemed quite satisfied with that approach. Yet there are translators who do not feel comfortable with this ethnocentric approach. They have done a great deal of reflection on their work, and are introducing new ways of translating literature. One of these is Antoine Berman. We have dedicated the first half of our work to his theories and the second half to a possible application of these theories to a novel by Joyce Carol Oates, I Lock my Door upon Myself. This novel was translated in France by Marie-Lise Marliere and its French title is Un amour noir. We will quote examples from the translation where we feel we can apply Berman's theory of "distorting tendencies" and make practical suggestions of alternative French translations. Our conclusion leads us to explore ways to better serve the French readers of Joyce Carol Oates.
