The diploma thesis The preparation of an educational pathway Hluboka upon Vltava - Zoo Ohrada deals with compiling of the terrain in the neighbourhood of the Zoo Ohrada, subsequent creating of designs and texts for individual information boards. The Educational pathway is called, "On the dam of the Municky pond". The first part of the diploma thesis describes physical-geographical characteristics of the defined area and the history of building educational pathways in the Czech Republic, their types and classification. One chapter is devoted to building educational pathways and possibilities of their financing. The content of the second part of the diploma thesis is a design of the educational pathway itself, texts about individual stages, suggestions for an arrangement of information on information boards including visual documentation, their marking and realization. Scope of the boards is varied, they provide a lot of information about flora and fauna that can be found in this area and also information about natural and environmental regularities and relationships between organisms. A part of the diploma thesis is also a methodical guide with plenty of games, suggestions and activities to make the course of the educational pathway more interesting. The appendix of the diploma thesis contains fotodocumentation, maps and a set of worksheets wit a key.

A New Language: Apophatic Discourse in John Donne's "Devotions"

Not much ink has been spilled over John Donne’s relationship to negative, or apophatic, theology. A few scholars have written about apophatic discourse in Donne’s poetry and sermons, but, in general, the subject continues to be overlooked. This thesis seeks to (re)start the conversation by shedding light on Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions, a text which has yet to be linked to the negative tradition despite its clear engagement in apophatic discourse. Indeed, throughout Devotions, Donne wields several apophatic strategies when speaking of God including via negativa, predicates of action, linguistic regress, paradox, and a consistent reliance upon metaphorical language. Each of these strategies uphold the two guiding principles of negative theology: the epistemic thesis which asserts that God is incomprehensible, and the semantic thesis which asserts that God is unspeakable therefore can only stand as the subject term in negative propositions. Significantly, my objective is not merely to qualify Devotions as an example of apophatic discourse; I also intend to contemplate the implications of qualifying it as such, namely how Devotions challenges the long-held assumption that apophasis requires the user to relinquish the body. Across the text, Donne’s apophasis does not lead him to un-body; on the contrary, the body gains new importance as Donne imagines the risen body, the interpersonal body, the body that cannot be lost because it is an inextricable facet of selfhood. Again, my hope is that this thesis will (re)start or (re)energize the conversation around Donne’s relationship to negative theology, a relationship that is much richer and more extensive than current scholarship suggests.

Mapping Urban Flood Exposure and Material Deprivation During The 2007 Floods in England / Exponering för översvämningar i städer och materiell brist under 2007 års översvämningar i England

Flooding is and remains to be a serious hazard to human society, with about one in five people globally living within 1 in 100 year flood risk areas. Previous research shows that there are social and economic inequalities in flood exposure, with deprived groups often being more at risk. Exposure studies investi- gated a variety of socioeconomic characteristics over the years by overlaying social data with modelled flood hazard areas. New studies reveal, however, that there can be significant socioeconomic differences between populations in theoretical hazard zones, as predicted by flood models, and flooded areas during extreme events. Despite this, case studies are still rare and are mainly limited to the United States. This thesis explores how material deprivation differs between modelled and flooded areas during the 2007 floods in Gloucester and Kingston upon Hull in the United Kingdom. During this extreme event, more advantaged areas experienced more flooding, both inside and outside the modelled flood hazard zones. In Gloucester, more deprived areas were covered by the modelled hazard map but were not flooded during this event. This work sheds light on the importance of using both hazard models and maps of real events when studying flood exposure. Without considering how social and economic factors can interplay with exposure to natural hazards, disaster management strategies will not be able to protect all vulnerable groups.

Summaries in English and Afrikaans / Text in Afrikaans / Until 1988, hearsay-evidence in our legal system was governed by common law. During this period resistance developed regarding the practice that hearsay which complied with certain exceptions could indeed be allowed. Case law excluded further exceptions being added. Legislation was enacted in 1988 in which hearsay was defined, a total exclusionary rule retained, but the Courts given a wide discretion to allow hearsay. Via this legislation a more accommodating stance towards hearsay was introduced. This dissertation aimed at measuring whether the legislation achieved its objectives and consisted of analysing case law and interviewing Judges and Advocates. The conclusion arrived at is that the legislation has only marginally changed the usage of hearsay in our legal system. The major obstacle lies in the attitude of practitioners who continue to distrust hearsay and do not utilize the mechanism provided by statute. / Tot en met 1988, is hoorse-getuienis in ons regstelsel gemeenregtelik beheer. In die tydperk bet besware egter geleidelik ontwikkel veral oor die gekunstelde wyse waarop hoorsê as aan bepaalde uitsonderings voldoen is wel toegelaat is. A matéria tratada nesta tese é a trajetória pedagógica desenvolvida pelo autor junto aos alunos atores ingressantes do curso de licenciatura em Artes Cênicas da Faculdade Paulista de Artes. Esta trajetória tem como ponto de partida a prática pedagógica da atriz, diretora e professora Myrian Muniz, detentora de olhar bastante particular sobre o trabalho atoral, e contempla também outros processos formativos vivenciados pelo autor. Esta pesquisa busca identificar uma linha de pensamento pedagógico nas Artes Cênicas, que tem o trabalho do ator sobre si mesmo como conceito fundante, e cujos representantes mais importantes são Constantin Stanislávski, Eugênio Kusnet e Myrian Muniz. Esta pesquisa visa também compartilhar as etapas mais relevantes nos processos pedagógicos envolvendo aprendizes em teatro, desde o compartilhamento dos primeiros fundamentos acerca do trabalho do ator até e elaboração de um espetáculo teatral que foi fruto do referido processo. Por fim, o autor analisa e reflete sobre a trajetória percorrida pelos alunos atores, buscando definir novos possíveis caminhos de formação do artista teatral, e também identificar uma linha própria de atuação como formador, sempre tendo o autoconhecimento como princípio pedagógico. / The subject of this thesis is the pedagogical path developed by the author among Performing Arts newcomer students at Faculdade Paulista de Artes. This path starts with the pedagogical praxis of actress, director and professor Myrian Muniz, bearer of a particular vision on actor\'s work, and contemplates also other formative processes experienced by the author. This research aims to identify a pedagogical thinking stream over Performing Arts, which holds the actor\'s work upon himself as cornerstone concept, having Constantin Stanislavsky, Eugenio Kusnet and Myrian Muniz as its most important representatives. Also objects to share the most relevant steps present in this pedagogical processes developed with the theater apprentices, from presenting the basic elements involving the actor\'s work, to the staging of a play as outcome of the related process. Lastly, the author analyses and looks over this pedagogical process that led to the search for defining possible new ways of educating performing artists, along with identifying a personal proceeding process as a drama teacher, having self-knowledge as a pedagogical principle.

The purpose of thesis is to independently describe and analyze various assumptions upon which arises the liability to damages according to regulation in OZ. The emphasis is being placed particularly on damage to health and associated claims, i.e. compensation for pain and social impairment. A substantial part is devoted to the method and amount of compensation, particularly with regard to the adoption of a new concept, which is to be indemnified loss in full accordance to the principles of decency, if case it cannot be determined otherwise. In addition, it was necessary to deal with other non-pecuniary injuries which include injuries caused by mental distress. The thesis is, besides introduction and conclusion (the first and fifth chapter), composed of three main chapters. The second chapter is devoted to the relationship between two seemingly independently existing phenomena of recent time, and those are law and sport. First, it defines the concept of sport through its characteristics, which is followed by the actual relationship between law and sport. Further, the thesis describes a problematic existence of the branch of Sports law.
