Diskrimineringsersättning som ideell ersättning : Med särskilt fokus på diskriminering och trakasserier av kvinnor

Johansson, Maja January 2017 (has links)
In accordance to the Swedish Act on Discrimination, chapter 5 section 1, a person that violates the forbidden discriminartiongrounds has to pay for the damages in order to compensate the victim for the damage the action caused. Since the Swedish Legal System is controlled by EU-law it is of importance to interpret some of EU directives on discrimination within the Swedish Act. The directives statues that all sanctions on discrimination should be effective, proportionate and dissuasive. The aim of this thesis is to investigate discrimination compensation as a non profit replacement especially regarding the harassment of women. The compensation comprises of an amount of money and came in year 2009 as a new form of sanction for discrimination in Sweden. It has two purposes, to compensate the individual for the violation and to prevent discrimination in society. The Labour Court has interpreted the sanction differently compared to the Supreme Court, where the assessments are more based on statements from the legislature. The investigated practice from the Labour Court shows that the compensation for women is pretty much the same, even if talking about different actions. It does not seem like the judges has discussed the exposure of women which the author means could help fullfilling the aim with the compensation, to prevent discrimination.

Precise Measurement of the Photon Directional Asymmetry in the $\vec{n}p\rightarrow d\gamma$ Reaction

January 2017 (has links)
abstract: This work presents analysis and results for the NPDGamma experiment, measuring the spin-correlated photon directional asymmetry in the $\vec{n}p\rightarrow d\gamma$ radiative capture of polarized, cold neutrons on a parahydrogen target. The parity-violating (PV) component of this asymmetry $A_{\gamma,PV}$ is unambiguously related to the $\Delta I = 1$ component of the hadronic weak interaction due to pion exchange. Measurements in the second phase of NPDGamma were taken at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) from late 2012 to early 2014, and then again in the first half of 2016 for an unprecedented level of statistics in order to obtain a measurement that is precise with respect to theoretical predictions of $A_{\gamma,PV}=O(10^{-8})$. Theoretical and experimental background, description of the experimental apparatus, analysis methods, and results for the high-statistics measurements are given. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Physics 2017

Kränkande bemötande från patienter : Har fysioterapeutens kön inverkan på bemötandet från patienten? - en enkätstudie

Karlsson, Frida, Wiklundh, Viktor January 2017 (has links)
Background: Interaction and communication are important in health care. How a person perceives a response is individual and depends on past experiences and social status. Bio-psycho-social factors can affect the interaction as patients' behavior is affected by disease states and previous experiences.  Purpose: To investigate how physiotherapists working at Akademiska Sjukhuset and Uppsala municipality experienced how they were treated by patients based on their gender and if the patient's disease states and age can affect the interaction.  Design and method: A quantitative cross-sectional study with a comparative and descriptive design. A total of 84 physiotherapists from Akademiska Sjukhuset and Uppsala municipality answered a self-designed web questionnaire survey. The result was analyzed with descriptive statistics, Chi-2 test and qualitative content analysis.  Result: A high proportion of physiotherapists (83%) had experience of abusive treatment and no significant difference was seen between the sexes or the workplace regarding these experiences. Largest share of male physiotherapists reported that they experienced threats and violence from patients while female physiotherapists stated that they suffered more sexual harassment. Physiotherapists experienced the most abusive treatment of patients with pain or dementia. Conclusion: Violations against physiotherapists are commonplace regardless of gender. The patient's disease condition is of great importance in the case of offensive behavior against the physiotherapist. It´s important to pay attention to the subject both in education and in professional life. More studies are required to strengthen the results.

Measurement of the mixing parameters of neutral charm mesons and search for indirect CP violation with D⁰ → K⁰_sπ⁺π⁻ decays at LHCb

Reichert, Stefanie January 2016 (has links)
The hadronic decay D0 → KS pi+ pi- provides direct access to the measurement of the mixing parameters of the neutral charm meson system and allows to test for indirect CP violation. Mixing is a time-dependent phenomenon for which the time evolution of the transition amplitude of a D0 (anti-D0) decay to the final state KS pi+ pi- has to be considered. The parameters driving those time-dependent oscillations are x and y, depending on the masses and widths of the physical eigenstates. The CP violation parameters |q/p| and phi describe the superposition of the flavour eigenstates D0 and anti-D0 and of the physical eigenstates D1 and D2. By measuring the time- and phase-space dependent distribution of D0 → KS pi+ pi- decays, the mixing parameters can be extracted and a search for indirect CP violation can be performed. This thesis reports a measurement of the mixing parameters and the preparations of a measurement of the CP violation parameters on data collected with the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3/fb. The D0 and anti-D0 mesons are required to originate from a semileptonic decay of a B meson. The parameters of interest are extracted from a fit in D0 decay time and the Dalitz variables. The phase-space distribution of D0 → KS pi+ pi- decays is modelled by expressing the three-body decay as a succession of two-body decays. The decay amplitude of a D0 or anti-D0 meson into KS pi+ pi- final state is a superposition of all possible intermediate resonances and the single resonances interfere with each other across the phase-space.

Search for CP violation in [Tau] decays at BABAR

Choi, Hervé Hiu Fai 15 November 2011 (has links)
According to the Big Bang Theory, matter and antimatter were produced in equal amounts at the beginning. Over time the antimatter disappeared, leaving galactic struc- tures composed only of matter. Therefore, there is some process in nature that proceeds at different rates for matter and antimatter due to the violation of the CP symmetry. CP violation has been observed in strange and bottom quark meson decays. However, a direct CP violation is predicted in the τ lepton sector. Specifically, the charge asymmetry due to CP violation in the decay τ − → π−K0S (≥ 0π0) ντ is predicted to be (+0.33 ± 0.01)%. In this work the charge asymmetry of the decay τ − → π−K0S (≥ 0π0) ντ is measured using a dataset of 437 million τ lepton pairs collected by the BABAR experiment at the SLAC Na- tional Accelerator Laboratory. The charge asymmetry induced by CP violation is found to be A = (−0.45 ± 0.24 ± 0.11) %, consistent with prediction. / Graduate
