Vliv organických látek produkovaných fytoplanktonem na koagulaci dalších znečišťujících příměsí přítomných v povrchových vodách / The impact of algal organic matter on coagulation of other impurities present in surface waters

Barešová, Magdalena January 2017 (has links)
Drinking water treatment is facing an adverse impact of algae especially when they extensively decay and release cellular organic matter (COM). As the character and consequently the removal efficacy of COM depends on the individual species, the thesis compares algal organic matter (AOM) derived from four common phytoplankton species: green alga Chlamydomonas geitleri, diatom Fragilaria crotonensis, and cyanobacteria Microcystis aeruginosa and Merismopedia tenuissima. To evaluate the differences between extracellular and cellular organic matter, we monitored the growth of those organisms and compared AOM obtained at different growth phases. As COM is not only difficult to coagulate, but also hinders the coagulation of other substances, the thesis investigates the effect of simultaneous coagulation of COM with other impurities present in surface waters: kaolin, humic substances (HS) or cyanobacterial cells of M. tenuissima. Coagulation behaviour was studied by the jar tests performed with single components and their mixtures with and without a coagulant (ferric or aluminium sulphate). Special emphasis was paid to proteinaceous COM of M. aeruginosa; to enhance the removability of proteinaceous matter we implemented pre-oxidation. Coagulation effectively removed turbidity (up to 99%) either of clay or...

Vegetariánství a jeho agroekologické souvislosti

Lattenbergová, Michaela January 2017 (has links)
This thesis aims to point out the connections between meat, vegetarian, vegan diet and the environment. The history of vegetarianism and the relationship and the anchoring in individual religions are analyzed in literary research. The differences between vegetarianism and veganism at present, the vegetarin motivation and above all, the impact of meat consumption on environment are analyzed next. As the methodology is used two kinds of field surveys and SWOT analysis. In practical part was for comparison selected three sample menus and their impact on the environment. The results of all the methods used confirm, vegetarian diet is not necessarily more environmentally friendly than a meat-based diet, depending on consumer preferences of individuals. However vegan diet is prooved as more environmental friendly diet.

Vliv akvakulturních recirkulačních systému na kvalitu povrchových vod

Mrkvica, Aleš January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) in terms of their effects on quality of surface water. In the theoretical part, recirculating aquaculture systems, physicochemical parameters of water, eutrophication and fish species that were part of the experiment were described. The methodological part was focused on the detailed description of sampling, parts of the recirculating system, used feed, the origin of reared fish and methods for determination of the individual physicochemical parameters of water and sediment. Samples of water and sediment were collected and analyzed at the Department of Fisheries and Hydrobiology at Mendel University in Brno. In the practical part, the physicochemical parameters were evaluated depending on the number of fish in the system, the daily ration and the type of feed used. It was found that the ammoniacal nitrogen content of the recirculating systems is mainly dependent on the number of fish, the nitrite nitrogen content per daily feed rate, the higher the nitrate content coincides with the minimum water change and the nitrification, the amount of extractable phosphorus in the sediment depends on the type of feed used as well as the total nitrogen content. The smallest impact of phosphorus and nitrogen emissions was demonstrated in the BIOMAR Efico Enviro 920 Advance 4.5 mm feed, which also contained the highest organic content.

Hodnocení účinnosti čistírny odpadních vod v obci Bílovice nad Svitavou

Štěpánková, Lucie January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis The Evaluation of the effectiveness of the the wastewater treatment plant in Bílovice nad Svitavou compares effectivity of wastewater treatment technology before reconstruction and after it. Literature search is focused on waste water. In this chapter are also described drainage buildings their concept and meaning. Very important part of the thesis is overview of water legislation and sewage contamination indicators and sludge index. Results part of the thesis contains description of Bílovice nad Svitavou municipality. Next chapter is description of the wastewater treatment plant before and after the reconstruction. In this chapter you can find information about sludge index. The most important chapter is an evaluation of results which contains graphical explanation of the level of dirty water. The original wastewater treatment plant was quite advanced but the reconstruction was necessary due to increasing population. The capacity was increased up from 1 250 to 7 750 equivalent residents. Current technology is designed to comply with actual needs of the city and microregion and it is prepared for its future enlargement. The wastewater treatment plant fulfill requirements for minimal concentration levels of pollution in waste water on the outflow to the recipient and does not exceed emission standarts.

Foltýnová, Veronika January 2021 (has links)
This thesis aims to address factors affecting the sustainability of development projects focusing on water supply in Ethiopia. The thesis identifies main dimensions of sustainability and examines factors within them and their impact on long-term functionality of the studied interventions. The research focuses on the (un)sustainability of the selected water supply projects in Sidama and Alaba, Ethiopia. Ten water supply systems constructed under three projects supported from the Czech development cooperation were examined. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and direct observations of analyzed water systems. The interviews were conducted with experts, representatives of the implementing organization, representatives of water institutions in Ethiopia (Woreda Water Offices and WASH Committees) and recipients of the interventions, i.e. users of the water supply systems. This was supplemented by the analysis of project documentation. Field research in Ethiopia was conducted in November 2020 and lasted four weeks. The results showed ongoing long-term functionality with only minor problems in the majority of studied systems. One system was nonfunctional at the time of visit and two systems were facing serious problems. The sustainability of studied systems was affected mainly by...

Stanovení tenzidů v odpadních vodách / Determination of surfactants in waste waters

Švec, Pavel January 2009 (has links)
Surfactants belong to surface-active compounds that have ability to restrain the surface tension; this ability is exploited to eliminate impurities. This study is focused on determination of surfactants in waste water to which these compounds can be transported from various cleaning and washing articles. In theoretical part are listed basic classifications of surfactants, their properties and requests of Czech legislative for their content in waste water. Furthermore here are described chosen analytical procedures for determination of anion-active, cation-active and non-ionic surfactants in waste water. The conclusion of the work is evaluation of measured results of surfactants concentration in inflow and outflow of waste water from waste-treatment plant in University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno and waste water from neutralizating station in FCH BUT. To determination of anionic surfactants were used two methods, arbitration method with usage of methylene blue and mobile analytics method which is based on chemical reaction between target compound and chemical agent. This reaction leads to formation of coloured compound able to spectrofotometric determination.

Vývoj kvality vody v povodí Mladotického potoka / Water quality development in Mladoticky Brook catchment area

Vacková, Zuzana January 2014 (has links)
Water quality was one of the biggest problems of environment in beginning of 90. of 20th century in the Czech republic. Since 90. the level of water quality was in czech rivers rapidly better. Mainly in big rivers have accomplished great changes. The small rivers haven't notice that rapid changes. The Czech republic, after entrance to the European Union have committed to comply with Directive 91/271/EEC reduce urban waste water and which should have big influence to water quality also in small rivers. During 90. industry technology, agriculture, cleaning technology of waste water etc. reached big development. Therefore the presumption is higher quality of water in the Czech republic since 90. Goal of the thesis is comparison of results from 1999-2000 with results from 2012- 2014 from Mladoticky brook catchment, which is lined up to small river catchments (79,77km2 ). From this comparison there is obvious trend, if conditions of the water quality are really better or not since 90. [33] Since 2012 to 2014 were taken 12 times samples from 11 profiles of water from Mladotice brook catchment and they were consequential chemically analyzed. The samples were evaluated according to ČSN 757221 and compared with results from 1999-2000. From comparison with data 1999-2000 and 2012-2014 was confirmed the...
