The Diploma thesis The Semiotic Analysis of campaign spots of parliamentary election in 2013 uses the semiotic analysis to analyse campaign spots broadcasted by the Czech Television before the elections in 2013. With regards of the purpose of this paperwork we chose the spots of victorious political parties, the ones who have exceeded the minimal level of 5% of total votes to gain the mandate, thus ČSSD, ANO, KSČM, Top 09, ODS, Úsvit and KDU- ČSL. We emphasise signs and means of expression used in chosen campaign spots. The aim of this paperwork is to answer the question what message campaign spots address to voters. Moreover, the diploma thesis tries to answer the question, if all victorious campaign spots contain the same signs and means of expression which could help them to influence the result of elections. The hypothesis of this diploma thesis suppose that all campaign spots will contain the same signs and that they will ask people to vote. Furthermore, we expect that none of the campaign spots will directly criticize other political parties or their policy. The theoretical part of the paperwork presents the basic concepts of political communication, political advertisement and its regulation in the Czech Republic. The paperwork introduces the electoral system of the Czech Republic and current...

Volby do PS Parlamentu ČR 2002,2006,2010: analýza volebních materiálů / Parliamentary election campaign in 2002,2006 and 2010: analysis of election materialsPistulková, Petra January 2010 (has links)
Diploma thesis focuses on parliamentary election campaign of Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) in 2002, 2006 and 2010. The hypothesis is that ČSSD maintains relatively stable core of voters, manages to call on them through their political campaign and to keep their support. Yet ČSSD is unable to catch new voters, especially young people and university educated voters. The goal is to prove or disprove this hypothesis and to give a reason why it is so. This paper outlines the influence of political marketing and presents a critical analysis of political marketing. It examines trends in Czech parliamentary election campaigns of 2002, 2006 and 2010 and the shifts in voters preferences. The paper analyses election materials in order to determine the profile of ČSSD voters and to explain why ČSSD has this profile of voters.

Local News and Municipal Elections in the Czech Republic: Do Publicly funded Newsletters help Incumbents to win Elections? / Radniční periodika a komunální volby v České republice: Pomáhají veřejně dotované noviny zastupitelům ke znovuzvolení?Boháček, Jiří January 2015 (has links)
In the Czech Republic, town halls are allowed to issue printed newspapers to inform the residents about local events. The newspapers are funded from municipal budgets and free for the residents, often delivered directly to the mailbox. Apart from being useful source of information, the newspapers may serve also as a platform for election campaign of the incumbent politicians. This fact was the main reason for the amendment of the Press Act in 2013, directing municipalities to issue unbiased news with enough room for all the political stakeholders. The present study uses various secondary data to examine the effects of town hall newspapers on voting decisions during municipal elections held between 1998 and 2014. Econometric analysis finds significant and positive relationship between presence of a newspaper and performance of incumbent politicians. Comparison of election results from 2014 with previous election years suggest that the Press Act amendment has not had substantial impact on this relationship.

1 Abstract The diploma thesis focuses on defining the factors that significantly influence the frame of the pension reform in years 1990-2017. It observes the evolution of the predominant discourses relevant to each period, as well as the role of political parties, both from the point of view of individual governments and during their activity within the expert committees focusing on adjustments to the pension system. There is also a role analysis of other selected participants, who significantly contributed to the creation of possible reform options. The thesis finds answers to the set hypotheses dedicated to the issue of political parties and their interest and possible consistency in the field of pension reform. Regionální diferenciace volebního chování v Česku / Regional differentiation of voting behaviour in CzechiaMikešová, Renáta January 2019 (has links)
This thesis explores the regional differentiation of electoral behaviour and other topics in electoral geography in the Czech Republic. Electoral geography, which studies the geographic aspects of the organisation, process, and results of elections, for a long time developed mainly in Western societies given the absence of free elections in other countries. It began to develop in the Czech Republic in the 1990s and its goal was to explore the process of the transformation of society and the stabilisation of democracy, to compare electoral patterns observed in conditions of stable liberal democracies with the patterns found in transforming states, and to adapt them to the specific conditions of transition countries. Electoral geography focuses mainly on the spatial variations of electoral behaviour. It seeks to determine whether different patterns of electoral behaviour are based on the social structure of the population in the region, whether they are influenced by contextual factors, or whether it is a combination of both. Another important subject studied by electoral geography is the spatial patterns of representation, which however are usually studied in majoritarian electoral systems. The thesis is composed of two basic sections. The first section offers a broader theoretical and...

The diploma thesis deals with topic of relict Czech-German ethnic boundary. In the first part of the thesis theoretical-methodological aspects of the study are discussed with an emphasis on delimitation of Czech-German ethnic boundary in literature. In the past the tendency to draw ethnic boundary as a line prevailed and it was common not to deal with zonal character of ethnic boundaries. In the second part of the thesis the shape of Czech- German ethnic boundary in the Czech lands and its changes from the end of the 19th century to 2001 are studied. In the third part of the thesis the shape of Czech-German ethnic boundary in chosen interest regions is analyzed, and the function of ethnic boundary as a socio-cultural divide of a territory is considered. The aim of the study was to find out if there are differences between Czech and German community in the interest regions. The function of ethnic boundary as a socio-cultural divide was examined in two periods: in an interwar era of the first Czechoslovak republic, and at the beginning of the 21st century, when Czech-German ethnic boundary remains only as a relict boundary. Comparison of both parts along the ethnic boundary in the interest regions was done on the basis of religiosity of population and results of parliamentary elections. Key words:...

Mungiki v Keni: Od náboženského hnutí po milici / Mungiki in Kenya: From Religious Movement to MilitiaHausvater, Ervín January 2020 (has links)
Violent non-state actors have represented a significant challenge for both national and international security in recent decades. One of the many countries that have experienced extensive violence perpetrated by these entities is also Kenya. Particularly armed group called Mungiki managed to become influential security, political, criminal and religious actor. Considering frequent transformations of the group making it difficult to determine what type of violent non-state actor Mungiki is, the group still represents a challenging case for researchers to fully comprehend. To contribute to the understanding of this entity and extend contemporary knowledge of violent non-state actors, this study aims to conceptualize individual phases of Mungiki development and discover mechanisms behind its recurrent metamorphoses from one type of violent actor to another. Based on the review of existing literature focused on violent non-state actors, their conceptualization, emergence, and transformations, the thesis uses a case-centric process- tracing method aimed at explaining particular outcomes of individual transformations. The study consists of an in-depth analysis of Mungiki development in the context of Kenyan security and political environment. The results indicate that Mungiki represented different types...
